The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. We were overbooked by Priceline so the hotel updated our room with no extra charge. We didn’t plan on having to stay in a hotel but it was a good experience in a pinch

My friends and I had planned a trip to see basketball we live in the UK. I made a mistake and put in the wrong Arena on Booking.com and this hotel came up. I booked two rooms and when we put in the zip code it was 1,000 miles away!!! I contacted booking.com literally 3 minutes after booking who contacted the hotel on my behalf and they refused to answer me or booking.com. I lost £270.00. Moral of the story they were in their rights to take the money but the fact they ignored both me and booking.com says a lot about the company greed. Enjoy spending my money..

I lived in Des Moines for 32 years and always enjoy our summer returns for the season of the Des Moines Metro Opera. Farmers Market, Court Avenue, the East Village, the Art Center, the Botanical Garden, all are worth a visit.

Des Moines is a very nice city, downtown is nice especially the skywalks. Our visit to the capitol grounds for the Des Moines symphony Yankee Doodle Pops event was awesome. We lived there a little over 30 years ago and still have friends that we visit from time to time. We always enjoy our visits.

Hotel was an easy walk to Civic Center and restaurants.
Hotel was an easy walk to Civic Center and restaurants. Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. Went to Court Street Brew Pub - casual and great for a variety of beers. Splash is a nice seafood restaurant - quiet and low key.
Parking is pricey whether in the ramp or on the street.
Cute shops downtown - nice change from mall shopping. Locally owned! Cooking store, spices, oil and vinegar shop, gift shops.
Hotel is historic and recently renovated - nicely done. Room was comfortable and quiet. Staff was pleasant and friendly.

Des Moines is a thriving metropolitan city with plenty of events and entertainment value. From exciting sporting events to an entertaining amusement park with a fabulous waterpark (better than Oceans of Fun in Kansas City). Exciting nightlife with alot of clubs with live entertainment. Golf Courses, Extreme skating park and many nice parks. If your a bicycler, their trail system is 2nd to none for riding enjoyment. Clean and friendly people. A nice place to visit. If you're lucky enough to be there during the Iowa State Fair, one of the best fairs in the USA!

Love this hotel!
Love this hotel! This is a new favorite place to stay for us. The Christmas decor made this place feel like a dream. Our room was so clean and the bed was actually super comfy! We look forward to returning again!
Breakfast at the restaurant was exceptional. Room was very nice and spacious. King bed was wonderful and they provide you with lots of pillows . Bathrooms were recently remodeled and the whole place was top notch. Close to dining, bars, nightlife. Young man at check-in had our room card ready literally 45 sec after walking up to the desk. I've never had a check in so quick and efficient. I forget his name (Riley/Ryan?) but he was exceptional. Made a few recommendations for dining and things to do while we were in Des Moines.
We did not even stay there...we checked in a little after 3. Our room was not even clean or ready. The room next to us had a barking dog, the hallway smelled of animal and human urine, no one was doing any housekeeping, there was a line waiting for help, and one other customer was looking for a phone charger because hers had been stolen from her room. When we complained to the main desk she stated that they were short staffed. We drove almost 4 hours for my grandsons medical appointment and that is what we had happen.
The staff was great, and very helpful. The hotel was very clean, which was great off course. Breakfast was nice, good options the kids where happy with it also. The location was the perfect location for what we were doing in Des Moines. We would definitely stay here again. That is not a question at all. The good most certainly out weighed the little things that we saw that could be improved.
Lovely restored hotel with a cool, modern vibe in downtown Des Moines. Right off Court St. district with tons of restaurants and fun Saturday Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the clean, comfortable rooms with modern amenities. The restaurant food was all delicious. Service was always on point. That it's very dog friendly and welcoming is a big bonus for those traveling with their pets.
I was beyond impressed with the cleanliness of the beds, the floors, and the individual rooms. I felt that each room was adequate for our stay over the weekend. A very great place to stay for the value and the location - it's only a few minutes away from many places of interest within Des Moines!
I didn't have breakfast. This motel is really not for vacationers. My expectations versus what was available didn't match and the photos were a lie, so I was quite disappointed. I will not stay here again, or visit Iowa really. It's not a very nice place.
Room was clean, staff were friendly, & price was decent for weekend rate. Price included breakfast & use of pool, which was nice. Location was close to the zoo, which was the reason for our trip to Des Moines.
This is the best hotel in Des Moines. A little off the beaten path but worth it. Very affordable, comfortable, very clean. Arcade, pool, hot tub. Staff was great. I won't stay anywhere else.
Very comfortable room and beds. We arrived after a long drive and slept very well. The staff was kind and helpful. The location was ideal for walking to local restaurants and sights.
The breakfast omlettes were good although they appeared unappetizing. The room was rather spacious! The area of downtown was super accessible and right by the Hotel!
Overall liked the room. It was large with more than enough space for our family. Was nice not having to share a bathroom and everyone had there own bed.
