Loved the Washington Park beach. It was nice to park and be so close to the beach! We also really enjoyed the Washington Park Zoo, it was small but fun and inexpensive. If we had more time, we definitely would have gone to the Friendship Botanical Gardens.

Nothing that I expected.
Nothing that I expected. The National park and State parks are very nice. The beaches were surrounded by Steel Mills. Wasn't feeling the vacation atmosphere. Huge Nuclear plant near the shore
The city wasn't much of a beach town. Alot of industry controlled the shoreline. I traveled Michigan's side of Lake Michigan. Several quaint beach towns align the coast.
We ended up going to Buffalo City MI to capture the feel of being on a vacation.

We drove around town for awhile to find a place to eat dinner. Finally found a cozy pub where the food was very good, but I don't recall the name. The town has some very nice art work scattered around and the library looked lovely. It was almost raining the days we were there or we would have visited the dunes. Our visit was only for 1 night so we didn't have time to sightsee, but the folks there were very nice.It looks like they are trying hard to overcome some of the unfortunate effects of covid, and we wish them all the best!

We traveled to Michigan City as it is close to the Indiana Dunes. And that was our goal. So it was convenient to stay there. And we found a great Catholic church in the city for Sunday Mass. Had but one day in our travel plans else should we have explored the city more.

The area seems quite old.
The area seems quite old. The smaller businesses are all very run down. Doesn't appear to be a very financially stable area. However, every person we came into contact with was exceptionally friendly and courteous. We will be returning.

Baymont sucked, won’t go there again.
Baymont sucked, won’t go there again. Restaurants customer service in Michigan City was horrible. Texas Corral … we ordered our meal and got our drinks and appetizers and an hour in half later everyone got their meal but us and everyone that walked in after us had already eaten and left and we were still waiting for our food so needless to say we paid for our drinks and appetizers and walked out. Never go there again. Went to Dennys for breakfast and had to seat ourselves and get our own menus and then the service got a little better … at least we got to eat there. Saw people walk out of there too bc of no service. Went to steak and shake and crappy service there too. Won’t go back Drove to Michigan and got the best service we have had all weekend. The only thing good about Michigan City is the beach and the town was clean but we will probably never go back there bc when u r a tourist and have no descent place to eat and I won’t go back to Baymont again and wouldn’t recommend it.
Staff all had exceptional attitude! very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are clean well decorated and very unlike most 2 star hotels. We vacation in this area every year and our normal hotel was booked. But we will be staying here in the future! Close to the beaches and state park. Have outside gathering area with gas fire pits and chairs to enjoy conversation with other guests if you so wish. And food trucks during the day which was a surprise!
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was close to other amenities - gas station, fast food, and an antique market. It was also easy access to highways and main streets but far enough away that there was no street noise. The rooms were quiet. The hotel had an indoor pool and continental breakfast and the hotel was clean.
Very clean, well kept facilities! Appreciated the fact that they did not allow dogs or pets. The continental breakfast was amazing, and offered great selections, lobby was very welcoming, and I liked the fact that they offered ice cold water when you walked in...as most people were probably hiking at Indiana Dunes all day nearby...
Very tidy and lovely motel in a great location. It’s close to Indiana Dunes NP! Everything was provided to ensure we had a comfortable stay. They even included a dog blanket for our furbaby! We had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone!
I liked the location the place has potential but it’s not kept up with at all it’s a bit ran down and the towels were filthy I never use hotel towels anyway but for those who do that is horrible
We loved the proximity to the dunes! It was so fun to be able to explore the National park with my family, including our dog. We chose the Red Roof Inn specifically because it was pet friendly.
The front desk worker was extremely polite and helpful. The hotel was lacking for the cost. Felt more like a rundown motel then what I have experienced before at Country Inn and Suites.
The hotel was what you would expect for the price, but I left something valuable behind and they found it and returned it to me. They have my undying gratitude.
