Exploring Los Angeles, the place where movies are made, you feel like you’re in a dream. Santa Monica Pier is the end point of the fabled Route 66, while just south is bohemian Venice Beach, lined by tall, swaying palms. Go slightly inland from the boardwalk to catch a glimpse of the canals that earned the area its name.
Head north to the golden beach and stunning scenery of Malibu and see why movie stars over the decades have settled here. Also popular with the rich and famous are Bel Air and Beverly Hills, home to exclusive Rodeo Drive.
And the reason for all this glitz and glamour? Hollywood, of course! Sitting high on a hill, the iconic sign is visible for miles around, while below the gold stars on Hollywood Boulevard immortalize celebrities of past and present. Be there on premiere night to see them grace the red carpet of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Over the hill is Universal Studios, with behind-the-scenes tours as well as rides. Next door are the Warner Brothers Studios, and Paramount Studios are closer to Downtown LA.
Whether you decide to live like a star in a luxury LA hotel or choose a cheap motel through Booking.com, it’s worth renting a car to get around this sprawling city and out to Los Angeles Airport (LAX).

Didn't really see much more than DTLA and Hollywood so can't really comment. Downtown is definitely worth visiting but you maybe don't get a full experience. The walk up to the Hollywood sign from the Observatory is definitely a must-do

No downtown vibe- best thing was the Broad museum and the statues outside the staples center. too much traffic everywhere- mostly single person in each car. no one uses public transport. Would be nice to hike up to the observatory if you had time.

I think most travellers plan their stay in LA for too long.
I think most travellers plan their stay in LA for too long. When you have a car you can see most if not all of the hightlights within a day a three. Landmarks like the Hollywood sign, Walk of fame, Santa Monica and Venice beach can all be done within a day. Add another day to see Beverly Hills, one or two museums and a visit to Koreatown and Thaitown for good food and you find yourself wondering what to do next. Kids might like to spend a day at either Disney or Universal, but doing them both is too much.
For shopping visit the nearby Cabazon Outlets. Califorina has so much more to offer than just the cities. A visit to the national parks gives a way more memorable experience. Not to say that you should skip LA, but know there is more.

I lived in Los Angeles for over 8 years. Circumstances beyond my control required me to move away recently but I had a great time visiting this time around as a tourist. Look forward to visiting again soon.

We stayed in the neighbourhood of Fairfax/La Brea and it's everything you think of when you think of LA living. Gorgeous and safe. The Walk of Fame was quite dirty and sketchy. We were approached multiple times by homeless people. There constantly seemed to be police helicopters flying around. The block with TCL Theatre is nicely kept up and was nice to visit, but we went down to the 6400 block to see some of our fav celeb's stars there and it was pretty horrible. There are two smells in Hollywood - urine and pot. If you are sensitive to smells, you will not enjoy it.
We did the Warner Brothers Studio Tour and highly recommend it. It had something for everyone. All in all it's sad to see how dirty and dilapidated Hollywood was. I would've thought the city would invest in this area a bit, given the huge tourist draw. It's hard to believe that at one time, it would've been a place celebrities would've been found. I'm glad we went to the Walk of Fame, but I definitely won't be back to that area. Next time I plan to explore La Brea/Fairfax more.

There is so much to do in LA.
There is so much to do in LA. We stayed in down town LA, but feel we would have seen more if we had stayed in Santa Monica. We have been over late Feb, we would come in Summer next time.
Definitely check out Hollywood so much to look at.
If we had more time we may have ventured for a drive along the coast to San Fran.
We have stayed here several times. The room is a good value for LA, and a nice location for visiting the Little Tokyo area, the Arts District, Grand Central Market and downtown museums. The hotel is a short walk or Uber from Union Station if arriving by FlyAway bus from the airport. The rooms have some Japanese type amenities (the toilet in particular) and are large and comfortable. The staff is always very nice and helpful and the rooms are very quiet.
The apartment was clean and spacious enough for our requirements, and a good base for the 5 minute walk to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, the ocean facing restaurants, and only a 10 minute further walk to the shopping areas and cheaper eating establishments for less formal dining. There's good Starbuck's 3 minute walk on the corner of Olympic and Main for breakfast bites and coffee. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating.
Staff were very nice and helpful The room came with breakfast, which was ok although not opulent. What I liked most was the big pot of hot oatmeal with many customary ingredients. It is in the downtown area and within walking distance of grocery stores and the LA Convention Center. The kitchenette is fully equipped with silverware, pots and pans, and do on. Car parking in the hotel with valet service was perfect ($50 a day).
So this wasn’t exactly a Business owned hostel it was a home with rooms and beds. More like a shared AirBnB.
What I liked about it was the location wasn’t too bad, it’s not exactly in a nice area but it is close to downtown Los Angeles. The other guests were polite and respectful but again this is more like a shared Airbnb so no “community vibe”.
The host is not on location but responded any time I needed anything.
Fantastic location, a ten minute maximum walk from Hollywood Blvd and the closest Metro station. The room itself is what I would call “budget chic”. You’d have no idea it was a cheaper option if you didn’t look closely. It had the feel of an expensive hotel, without the price tag and without the “hoity toity” if you know what I mean. The young lady at the reception desk was so wonderful as well.
Staff are amazing, Kevin made me feel very welcome and gave me a tour of the place and made sure I had everything I needed. The pods are great quite spacious and they come with their own air conditioning and tv it’s just like a hotel room if not better. Very cheap to stay in and the location is quite good only a 10 minute walk from the main buses and trains into downtown and Santa Monica.
The hotel is situated in the Arts District of Los Angeles. The location is excellent as several good cafes and restaurants are within walking distance. Downtown Los Angeles and the nearest metro station (to places like Santa Monica) are 20-25 mins away on foot. The staff is extremely good and polite.
I highly recommend it if you are on a budget and are okay with a shared bathroom.
We enjoyed our stay so much. Omni is a wonderful hotel with lots of comfort in one of the best districts of Los Angeles. Wonderful restaurants nearby, nice breakfast offer, good opportunity to spend time outside, go for a walk, sit down inside and outside the hotel. And most important-the staff is so friendly and polite. This will definitely not be the last time we came here.
the beds are comfortable, every time I go to Los Angeles this is my place to stay , it’s close to the airport , downtown LA , I also love the girls at the front desk they have always been really nice to me , I also love that they always left 2 packages of makeup removal wipes , I always forget mine and they make sure I have them 👏
Shantal is really the best hotel staff ever! She is very polite and friendly when I check in. She also tried to solve my problems when I stayed in this hotel. I really appreciated the excellent service Shantal provided. The room is clean and cozy. I have a nice memory of staying in Los Angeles.
This is a very good choice if you want to stay near the airport in Los Angeles. The staff are friendly and there was a very welcome selection of free beverages in the reception area. The bedroom was huge and very modern, with a great TV. The price paid was reasonable for a stay near the hotel.
Conveniente location to/from LAX. You can save money in transportation by taking the hertz shuttle at the airport and once at the hertz station you can cross the street and arrive to hotel. By bus you can reach LA downtown and santa monica! In the area there dining options.
If you're looking for a hotel for a good price that's near downtown LA, then this one is a good choice. I booked this hotel since I was going to attend a concert at the Banc of California stadium. The Lyft ride from this hotel to the venue was about $13.
Perfect location!! Amazing staff! Great price on a king room in LA! Has breakfast! 2 restaurants located at the hotel as well as a spa!! Would highly recommend staying here if you are heading for Downtown Los Angeles!
One of my best hotel staying ever
I liked the movies filmed there
Location is perfect in downtown near to transportation
Hotel is totally good and they are very clean helpful
I felt safe inside the building (downtown Los Angeles is not very safe and clean). But the building was very clean, the pool area, gym and lobby are very pleasant.
