while Carlsbad is a lovely city to see, we did not have enough time to walk around, drive around. We were there for a specific reason, and that took all of our time.
From what I heard the flower gardens are suppose to be gorgeous.

Carlsbad is a quaint small town that is worthy of one-day’s exploration. The greater Carlsbad, including the beaches, flower fields and activities off downtown area can probably filled another couple days’ time. However, I probably will become bored if spending more than three days in the area.

It is a sleepy town where most of the restaurants and bars shutdown by 10:30 - 11:30 or earlier even on the weekends. If you want entertainment or nightlife you have to leave the area and head to towns to the north or south.
The big attraction is the beach and some of the boutique restaurants and shops.

The hotel fell short of my expectations.
The bad first:
The hotel fell short of my expectations.
The bad first:
- The rooms are dirty and in disrepair. My shower turned into a bath.
- The freeway is loud, so you hear cars all night
- The shuttle only starts at 9:30am and runs every 20 minutes. Need to call at 7am to get on the calendar. 11 people to a shuttle.
- Breakfast options are very slim which means you need to venture out to feed yourself. The market next door isn't geared towards breakfast, leaving you starbucks.
The good:
- The location is only 4-5 minute drive to Legoland. Super fast and easy. We decided to forgo the shuttle and just park at the park early (avoid traffic) and eat at a Legoland hotel. Just need to reserve spot on open table night before.
- The pool is nice. Kids loved it.
- Great air conditioning in the room.
Overall, I would rather just pay a little extra and stay at Legoland if you are going to go to Legoland. If you aren't going to Legoland, I don't know why you would stay at this hotel at all.
The hotel goes for a hard value play, but it is a 2 star hotel at best for me.

Well, Summertime is very busy.
Well, Summertime is very busy. Good for finding places to eat. Not so good finding beaches to sit on. Or finding Dog Beaches. Hard to find parking for the beach. Got to get there early. Warm weather inland made for humid weather at the coast. Windmill Food Hall was a great place to eat. As was Benihana and The Green Dragon. Primo Pizza was good too. Beaches were crowded and expect to pay for parking there. If you have one good day at the beach consider yourself lucky.

Terrible experience when trying to sleep the windows don't have proper noise isolation the sound of the freeway plus the sound of their walls/tubs/AC cracking is just awful, we couldn't sleep right the 3 nights there.
Great location by the ocean. We had a big balcony and wonderful view on the ocean and sunset, we saw the dolphins and surfers also from the balcony. We had 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen with all necessary equipment. Carlsbad city is walking distance. Very good Carlsbad Premium Outlets in close driving distance. Parking place for the car. Laundry washing and drying possibility on the property. Good location between San Diego and Los Angeles. Very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed at Villa 8!
The location was fine and I appreciated the easy close parking but the breakfast was a disaster!
There were low-quality and unhealthy food choices and worst of all the plates, utensils, and bowls were made of styrofoam and plastic!!! No ethically responsible hotel or restaurant uses these non-biodegradable items!
Wake-up Marriot! It is time to adopt "Green" policies and practices!
We are a family of 5 and the one bedroom suite was perfect for us. We had space for the kids to hang out, space to eat and warm food and everything we needed. The staff was very nice and helped us every time we asked for something (extra towels, coffee, etc). I would definitely recommend this hotel to families. Also was not too far from Legoland which was very nice!
This is an older property that has been remodeled inside nicely.
It is located just two block north of where all the Bars and Restaurants are located in Carlsbad Village. This area is very up scale beach town. Most hotels in the area are charging well into the $150 to $300 per night.
So to only pay $67 total for a nice room in this upper class town is fantastic!
Amazing location right on the beach. Amenities were fantastic. We had an enormous room with a huge patio overlooking the ocean. Fridge and microwave were also nice to have. Free continental breakfast and they offered free dinner one night as well. They have a great restaurant as well! We really enjoyed listening to the sound of the crashing waves at night.
We loved staying at the Legoland Hotel. They had so many activities lined up for the kids! I loved how we can cross over to the Castle Hotel and have my toddler play in their playground. It was so nice to be able to relax and let my kids play while I sat and watched them. My 3 year old really enjoyed the dance party at night also!
The location is handy and very attractive with palm trees all around. It is close to the beach, as promised, but the walk is a bit busy on higher traffic roads to get there. The hotel is close to a Ralph's grocery store and other shops which is really nice. There is a pool, but no hot tub if you are looking for this.
Location is fantastic! Walk to Legoland. Outlets and beach are nearby and good restaurants nearby. Hotel seemed clean. Quite pool was great, views of the city and beach were amazing! Room was nice and spacious. Kids had their own room which was so nice! Daily kids activities seemed fun. Friendly staff.
I love the lush greenery and peacefulness from the patio. The staff was amazing and helpful. The hotel has a lot of extra perks like a shuttle to Legoland or the beach. They gave us beach balls for the kids, and also have beach equipment available! The pool was clean and refreshing.
Great location but was treated like shit and it's a disgrace because Carlsbad is my hometown. It's crazy how the worker was getting mad at me because he couldn't explain or provide the location or proof of deposit fee that wasn't added on my reservation. Disgrace.
Great location and accommodations in Carlsbad, California! Located just in front of the beach - you can experience the dolphins and pelicans first hand!
We enjoyed a lot the apartment - bonus points for the kitchen and washing machine!
Location. All that was needed was within walking distance, including downtown Carlsbad and a variety of neat little shop's, even antique shops.
A very unique hotel in the way it's 2 story facility is laid out. Easy parking .
Excellent location close to the beach and Carlsbad village.
Very well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and cookware. New large microwave and oven, and full size fridge.
The staff responded quite quickly to my email.
This is an ideal location to legoland California and the best Southern California has to offer. The variety of shops, restaurants and alike only a short distance from the hotel.
