Portorož is the most popular beach resort on Slovenia’s small but undulating coastline. It was first developed as a health resort and several spas remain. The largest is the Terme & Wellness LifeClass Portorož, offering treatments using local products such as salt pan mud, seawater and thermal mineral water.
The huge complex is surrounded by some of the 4 and 5-star hotels available on Booking.com. Nearby is the Hotel Kempinski Palace, a historic property built in 1910 as a retreat for Austro-Hungarian officials. Other Portorož accommodation options include guest houses with pools and beachfront apartments.
The beaches are of course why most people come. The main, sandy beach is awash with colourful parasols in summer, while offshore watersports include diving and water skiing. Boat trips from the marina sail along the coast and even to Venice and Trieste in Italy.
As the temperature cools down, the nightlife heats up as people start hitting the bars and clubs. Several casinos also provide another way to spend some time…and money, and there are also relaxed restaurants where you can enjoy the sunset.
Portorož Airport is just south of the city and in the opposite direction is Piran whose Venetian old town spread over a promontory provides a more cultural offering.

Lovely place for long weekend, great place for spring and autumn. We are visiting this place twice a year for very long time. Not the best place for summer vacation, but for long weekend it is one of the best places.

Very nice swimming pools with sea and termal water.
Our food was delicious, especially sea food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms we stayed in were very neat and tidy.
Although there were not enough parking spaces, the staff tried very hard to provide us with payable parking.

A very bad experience, from everything that can be said about a hotel that does not respect itself.
We booked a Mosim room, paid in advance and received "another product",
Although there was a lack of reference, and the answer was
"Sorry. Although you did not receive the room you paid for and booked a month ago,
The hotel is full and you are welcome to stay in the room even though it is bad and not suitable for the reservation. Unprofessionalism, indifference and disdain even though they realized they were wrong,
And they didn't try to solve the problem they had. We paid full price, and we did not receive the product (a room that did not match our wishes and conditions) and we did not even receive a refund for the difference between the room we ordered and the room we received.

A beautiful resort- we went in September.
A beautiful resort- we went in September. An unknown gem to British tourists. I imagine too crowded in main summer months. The area is stunning- short bus ride to Piran- which is beautiful and interesting. Swimming in the Adriatic is wonderful.

beautiful and vibrant riviera with a charming atmosphere.
beautiful and vibrant riviera with a charming atmosphere. Lots of shops and great restaurants. Unfortunately, though, you have to pay for parking (1,5 EUR per hour until 22:00), for this I highly recommend the EasyPark app, which made this duty much easier for me.
As for the beaches, here I was slightly disappointed. There are only city beaches which are not great, or stone beaches under big cliffs. All in all, you have to search and drive around.
We ended up going to Fiesa Beach near Piran, which was relatively pleasant to sit on and the snorkeling was not boring. For example, I even saw a squid here, which I hadn't seen before in Bali.
We got a room on the first floor with a partial sea view, which was definitely a plus as I hadn't booked any sea view. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food, and dinner was really good as well. The staff was friendly and there were no issues with the hotel during our stay. Hotel Apollo is up the hill in Portoroz, but that is actually an advantage in my opinion because there's very little car traffic next to the hotel. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
The structure is renovated, it is very nice. The rooms was enough for 2 people, the bathroom was fuiet big and clean. Nice view from the balcony so we werw able to see the sea and the city Portorose. Very good breakfast, you can choose whatever you want. The pools in the hotel were good but in some of them the water was a really cold (the pool for the babies). Piran is near, just 20 minutes by foot. There are also restaurants nesr the hotel and a small supermarket.
Great stay, location close to the beach and Portoroz. Very clean and comfortable place with good facilities for sunbathing and spending time outside on a patio or balcony with a great view of the sea from the property. Damijan is a great guy, very friendly and helpful. He gave me a cold beer when I arrived which was much appreciated after the long drive there in hot weather. I highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back next time I'm in Slovenia.
Everything was just perfect. This is the most beautiful hotel in Portoroz, with its own free sandy beach. Inside the hotel there is an excellent outdoor swimming pool with sea water. Amazing breakfasts. Large comfortable rooms with a large terrace (superior room). And most importantly - very friendly staff, ready to help with any problems. This is one of the best hotel stay experiences ever.
This is a five star hotel. We have travelled a lot around the world and have experienced many beautiful hotel, this one is on top of our list. For us already third time at this marvelous hotel, situated at the beachfront of Portoroz and in the middle of the cosy boulevard. Breakfast is excellent, various choices, if you still feel hungry or not satisfied after breakfast its your own fault.
It was our second stay at Hotel Histrion and we absolutly like it. We came with our 3 year old son and enjoy some time in the swimming area where he can enjoy the baby/child pool and we can enjoy the sea view -- which is really incredible. The Hotel is new renovated and has all ammendities in the room you need. Piran and Portoroz are both very close and can be reached by walking or bus.
In general, we really liked everything about the hotel and staff. Excellent location (not close to the noise of the bars) but very close to the beach. The garden of the hotel was charming. We enjoyed our breakfast (rich offer of variety of foods), our lunches and dinners on the terrace. The chef is truly excellent. We also liked the size of our room. All in all, I recommend the hotel.
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and the apartment was really clean and neat. The apartment is about a 15-minute walk away from the Portoroz main beach, in a residential area, so at night it is calm and quiet. We took our bikes with us and the apartment has a small private terrace where we put them at night, so we didn't have to worry about them.
The apartment is close to the old town of Piran and Portoroz. The Parenzana cycle path is easily accessible by bicycle, on which almost the entire Slovenian coast can be covered. The beach is only a 5-minute walk away. Safety parking place. This apartment has no extra services, perfect for those who don't want to spend their vacation in the apartment.
It's the perfect place for family vacation and pets also.
Location is out of noise and very close to entire scrounging and trips to Slovenian, Croatian, and Italian touristic places ...
Beach side, walking, jogging ...
Rent bike is also a good choice...
Super markets very close ...
The owner is more than perfect and reachable all the time.
Staff is very helpful, rooms are clean, the view is actually amazing and the breakfast is delicious.
The beach is a bit far, but if you arrive with a car it is easy to reach both Piran and Portoroz. You can also walk down the hill, it is a nice walk (around 20-30 min to the nearest beach).
It was super clean, terrace view is probably one of the best in Portoroz! Apartment is quite big, kitchen fully equipped and apartment in general is fully equipped.
Hosts were so helpful and friendly, they helped us with some local info, important for our stay, and gave us some kind gifts.
I hadn't experienced a richer and better breakfast than in this hotel! It was like in heaven - more than meets the eye! The restaurant, bar, looby are great and very cozy! A good offer of good cakes is also available. Not to forget, live music in the evening.
Location is great, nice hotel but very few aspects are truly 5 star like. The private beach costs extra, but in my opinion that should be standard to the price paid. Breakfast was nice, good variety, but the same everyday.
Amazing experience. The staff is very nice, friendly and always willing to help you at best.
I went there with a Tesla and the hotel was equipped with a charging station.
Lovely and relaxing experience.
Great view, sunbeds in garden. Shared seating area. Private parking space and little traffic around. Portorož is mountainous, so walking from the beach area to the hotel is a serious workout
