although nafplio itself is not large, especially if you stick to the old town which is the most interesting part it is a good base for local tours either with a bus/ktel, affordable taxi or a car. We would have liked to at least check out Epidavros as well and a near by monastery. if you plan to visit nearby sites without basing your self in nafplio 2 days is plenty other wise 4 days to fit Mycenae and Epidavrus

3 nights max is perfect for Nafplio during the winter season. The city is beautiful, the Venesian forst was fabulous and the food is good. The only issue I have with the city is the terrible smell, air quality that seems to start around 5pm and continues until about 8 pm.

A great place with lots of history and plenty of places to eat. Very quaint in the old town and as the tourist season runs throughout the year, it was still having things open during December.
The castle’s are well worth a visit and the shops in the old towns are very much craft related.
It’s not expensive to eat out and it’s well worth a visit but it’s not a very big town so about 3 days would be enough. If you stayed longer, it would be as a base to explore all the old heritage sites located within a hours drive. Definitely get a hire car as no train comes out this far. We flew in to Athens which is a 2 hour drive on the motorway.

Worthwhile to visit. Great little find in Greece.
Worthwhile to visit. Great little find in Greece. Fly to Athens, catch a train as far as Corinth. We then got a taxi as it was late but on researching, better getting a bus from the airport to Nafplio. A third of the price and very convenient. We got a bus back from Nafplio. Sounds a faff but it wasn’t and very comfortable bus journey with helpful driver. Def worth the effort to get to there to visit . Walked up to Palmedi fortress. Wow! The views were stunning. Got the boat over to the other fortress - nice trip. Took the little road train too - only 20 minutes and helps get bearings round the town. Loads of walking. Loads of pubs and restaurants and shops. Food was all fresh and amazing fish served too.

Nafplio is a picturesque costal city in the south of Peloponnese full of history and culture, with the historic centre beautifully preserved. One can enjoy the various restaurants and coffee shops, visit Palamidi castle or Burtzi, or the museum and nearby sights. There is also a lovely beach if you wish to swim or sunbathe. Try the local food, is really good! And the local wine or beer as well. The lovely ancient theatre of Epidaurus is just a half an hour drive away, really worth visiting the old town of Epidaurus as well.
Excellent location right in the old city centre and a 3 minute walk from every restaurant cafe club or historical site worth visiting. The room was clean with a unique decoration style that definitely stands out. One of the best breakfast services we were ever offered in a hotel despite all the covid restrictions and regulations. Even the coffee was made to order by a barrista and from a standard hotel breakfast coffee machine. Their restaurant is also worth one of your other meals during your stay in Nafplio.
The property is in the old town of Nafplio and in the very center, just a few steps from the point where Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece, was murdered which is very impressive to think. The building is really beautiful and our room was really spacious. The breakfast was exceptional, and very rich, so much that you can spend the day without even eating. The owner,
Dimitris was really nice, easy going and kind, ready to provide us with information about everything. We will for sure come back!
Great location, great hosts, really taking care of us. Lovely individual rooms, Akis was answering all our questions re Nafplio and gave us many tips. In the morning we were offered to have breakfast on the balcony of our room, which was lovely and very good!
I would go there without hesitation.
It is recommended to park at the big public parking and walk to the hotel - it is very close and easy to find. Akis provides you a little map before arrival and it’s super easy!
Thanks to Akis and his family!
This was one of my best stays in Greece. Except Nafplio, which is an amazing city, I will always remember this apartment. Beeeeeautiful, nice decorated, fully equipped, clean, comfy bed, perfect terrace for chill in the evening. The host was amazing lady who help us and explain everything. It's not that central, but if you are coming with a car, definitely recommended, private parking and plenty of supermarkets and bakeries around. Quiet and nice neighborhood. Highly recommended, you will enjoy!
Aetoma has character and soul. Located in the prettiest square in the Old Town, run by a dedicated family with a lot of heart and love, it is a perfect place to stay in and discover Napflio.. and you can start your day with a hearty breakfast - probably one of the best in Greece - prepared by the wonderful landlady who was born in the mansion. Akis, the young generation of the family managing the hotel leaves no question unanswered in a most friendly and professional way.
Everything was truly spectacular! The location was perfect — walkable to all of the shops and restaurants, yet the hotel itself was private and quiet. The staff were friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast was an indulgent experience; such a treat!
We’ll be recommending the Hotel Ilion to all of our friends who travel to Greece, and will be sure to return ourselves!
Amazing building that gives you that true feeling of an old-school grand hotel, without feeling outdated at all. Huge spaces, lovely piano bar, peaceful location only 5 minutes away from the old town of Nafplio. Despite it’s age, it’s very well maintained and everything is in perfect condition and super clean. Maybe one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in and the complimentary bottle of wine in the rooms was definitely a plus.
Pension Dafni is a very nice place to stay in Nafplio, Greece. In the old town, in a quiet street, with very nice and helpful staff, generous breakfast. Excellent location - minutes from the coach station, minutes from the centre of the old town and port, minutes from the beach. We rested very well after exploring this corner of Greece in the heat. It was so quiet that I had some of my best sleep ever. Highly recommended 👌
An unexpected nice little hotel at the outskirts of busy Nafplio, we only had a stop over on our travel back, but it was unexpectedly lovely. The concierge helped my wife to identify the hotel where she forgot some clothing, the breakfast was lovely and too rich (who can eat all this stuff), totally friendly personal, free parking places at hotel site, lovely, just lovely!
This small, traditional hotel is situated in the heart of Nafplio old town, which makes it perfect to go around and explore the beautiful small streets and traditional shops and taverns.
The hosts are very attentive and professional.
Breakfast was served at the rooftop, and it had a very nice variety of food.
Excellent choice for a one night stay in Nafplion. Great location. We appreciated the suggestion offered by the staff at the reception to take the Nafplia Palace Hotel lift (at the end of the little street) to go up to the Clock Tower to watch thesunset above the sunset over the city. Fabulous.
A beautiful little boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Nafplio with beautiful setup great service and great smiles from both of ladies in reception that we were welcomed and darewelled with. Breakfast was amazing.
A definite stay while your in Nafplio
It is a new hotel with tasteful decorations. Its located is in a central place but the sealed window/door blocked noises away and made the room very quiet. The service was warm and pleasant. Epoch house will be our choice when we visit Nafplio again.
Lestel apartments are a typical boutique hotel in Nafplio. The room is nicely furnished, also with a small kitchen. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area that can be used by all apartments in the building. Also, the view of the castle was really nice.
The location was perfect for a short trip to Nafplio. The fortress was right outside of the property. The bus stop that connects Nafplio to other big cities in Greece is also extremely close by. Furthermore the hosts were super friendly and kind.
Beautifully designed colorful hotel, with spacious, comfortable rooms in the heart of the Old Town of Nafplio. The owner, as well as the staff working the desk, are exceptionally hospitable and friendly.
Beautiful ambience. It was the definition of a luxury boutique hotel. A small relaxing treat much needed for our family of four. Both kids loved the spacious room and their comfortable beds.
