We were in Meteora for four nights and three full days. We filled all three days if you travel like us. We hiked two days and rode e-bike the third day. We saw monastaries, hiked up to mountain peaks, etc.

Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.

The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal.
The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal. The Byzantine art and the historic architecture elevate the soul. I was fortunate enough to half ten minutes alone in the chapels of both the Varlaam and Holy Trinity monasteries in between the flow of tourists and found it to be peaceful and prayerful. The natural scenery of the area, including the sunsets, has no equal anywhere I have been, and watching the sun change the colors of the rocks and the monastery buildings as it set in the west was truly amazing. Kalabaka is a bit built up and a mile or two further away from the rocks. Stay in Kastraki for a really Greek village experience.

Kalambaka is an interesting small town with many restaurants, gift shops, souvenirs shops. But the main attractions are the mountaintop monasteries from the 14-15th century that seem to float as you look up.
Taking a tour is very helpful because you get the history of the area and the monasteries, and you do not have to concentrate on driving.
Don’t forget to visit the Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum housed together. We have such respect for mushrooms now!

Upon arrival, the front desk gave some recommendations for a great restaurant, The Taverna to Paramithi. The food was great, (don't mind the cats) the live music was warm and generous. The bakeries were stellar. The e-bike rental shop on Ioanninon St. was a good find.
Solo motorbike traveler, I booked the room last minute while i was at Trikala. The night swift receptionist was super friendly and welcoming. Service minded and really helpful. The room was really nice and clean. Next day they even gave me a call to not miss breakfast, in the morning I met the owners and the whole experience was remarkable! Totally recommended, the best stay I had in a 7 days trip, staying at different hotels and locations around Greece! Thank you for the great hospitality!!! :) cheers from Iceland!
The hotel has a fabulous view, possibly the best in Kastraki, and it's worth staying there for this alone. However, there are other aspects that make this a solid choice. The front desk staff and owners were extremely friendly and helpful, and were always on hand to answer questions. The rooms are comfortable and those with a panoramic view of Meteora's landscape come with a nice terrace. It's a short walk to Kastraki where you'll find a range of places to eat in the evening.
Exceptional beautiful hotel in the heart of Kalambaka, very close to Meteora monasteries (5 minutes drive). A lot of free parking around. We loved a design of the entrance and lobby, very friendly and helpful staff, we received a full explanation about area attractions. The breakfast was good. The room has a fantastic view to the mountain rocks. Very clean and comfortable, fridge and coffee amenities, everything you need to enjoy and relax.
One of the best hotels in Greece!
First, I want to start with the staff. They were very, very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated near the city center with acces to everything you need (stores, supermarkets, tavernas, cafes).
The room was very clean. They changed the towels daily. We als had a spacious balcony with an incredible view to Meteora.
When we will return to Kalabaka, for sure Hotel Kaikis will be top on our list of accomodations.
Excellently located in a beautiful spot of Kalambaka, having a magnificent view to Meteora, Theatro Hotel is a really cute place to be. Inspired by legendary movies, each room is nicely decorated and personalized, that makes it even cuter. Breakfast is rich and changes every day with many local delights. The beautiful mountains area with the monasteries is only 5 minutes driving. Strongly recommended.
Nice hotel in the city centre, ideal for one / two nights or when Meteora is your destination.
Nice staff, elevator, I was surprised by the bathroom amenities (it's on a higher category level), large balcony.
Tasty and very varied breakfast including cakes.
Internet ok, parking is in narrow streets but you could find a spot.
Price / service offered ratio very good.
It has an excellent location and is only minutes walk from the train station, town center (restaurants, shops etc). The reception is outstanding and very helpful and accommodating to us. The breakfast is fantastic and has plenty of options and variety. The price per night is reasonable. I will definitely recommend this hotel when in Kalambaka/ Meteora.
This hotel felt more like a luxury rustic apartment than a hotel room. The bed was fantastic - the bathroom and jacuzzi were exceptional as well. If you want to feel "at home" this is absolutely the Suite for you! Modern - sexy and comfortable! Meteora was the highlight of our Greece trip and we will be returning to these Suites for our stay!
Has everything needed for one night stay. Breakfast was really good - almost like 4 star hotel in Athens. Good cappuccino and you can choose milk or almond milk.
Bed was very comfortable.
Very clean everywhere.
Very nice staff.
Located at the entry point toward Meteora and easy to start hiking up.
Expect what is written in the description.
We booked a room with a view of the Meteora rocks, and it provided exactly that. A view straight onto the rocks. The hotel is in a great location on the road to the Meteora, but it is also quiet with a good sized garden around the hotel. There is plenty of parking, if you have a car, or a bus stop very nearby. We enjoyed our stay here.
The sofa bed is a big double bed!!! Nice area outside room and nice little balcony with a great view of Meteora. Also, there is a playground right next to the hotel.
The host was very helpful. He helped us book a trip to meteora and had a solution for everything!!! We were treated with kindness and respect. Thank you very much!!!
I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The room with a balcony offered a breathtaking view of the Meteora mountains. The gentleman who checked me in was incredibly helpful in every aspect I needed. The breakfast was delightful. If I have the opportunity to visit Meteora again, this will definitely be my first choice.
The hotel room is small, but very cozy and with a good view of the mountains. Everything is nearby, the best restaurant, shops, and a tour desk, where we booked an excellent excursion (30 Euros per person) “Watching the sunset at Meteora.” This is an unforgettable place. as if we had visited another planet.
the best for this apartment was the location, its 15 till 20 minutes walked from train station kalampaka and 1 minute to bus station that taking us to go up to monastery, walking about 5 minutes we arrived in city centre with all nice place to eat with view from meteora... what a great property to stay.
Hotel is located right by the city square and main strip, and the view of Meteora from the balcony is enchanting. The hotel is 30 seconds from a large, free parking lot. The room is small but has all the amenities (fridge, water kettle, coffee/tea packets) and the bedding is very comfortable.
The hotel is in centre of Kastraki and close to Monastery of Saint Nicholas. It's very convenient for a hike or sightseeing in Meteora. It has a private parking. The owner was really kind. The room is as in the photo, clean and well equipped with air-conditioner and heating if you need.
Beautifully renovated, spotlessly clean & spacious apartment right in the centre of Kalampaka. Perfect location for visiting the monasteries of Meteora. Free parking nearby. Attentive & kind owner.
Location was great, hotel was very nice, has a great patio to sit outside with an amazing view of Meteora. Very close to lots of great restaurants and shops.
