Pros: Clean, great food, many options, a lot to see.
Pros: Clean, great food, many options, a lot to see. Good for walking, has small horses and donkeys for transportation. No cars. Everything in walking distance.
Cons: many of the restaurants were not open (March 2024), while their websites said they were. Relevantly pricey. Ugly, monstrous yachts moored at the front of the little harbour. Expect tourists with an attitude - not very friendly.

Hydra is the sort of place where you can quite happily sit at a cafe on the harbour side and do nothing apart from watch the boats and people come and go. It’s such a beautiful harbour. There’s a swimming area at the headland at one end of the harbour, where the rocks have been modelled to provide comfortable sitting and sunbathing, and where the water is an absolutely gorgeous colour. There are taxi boats to beaches further away, tho I didn’t use them.

Hydra is car free, which makes the stay so unique.
Hydra is car free, which makes the stay so unique. Villas and houses climb up from the port connected by narrow alleyway and stairs. Donkeys to haul your luggage to your rental if up on the hill. Water taxis to take you to other bays. Very relaxing place to stay at.

Hydra is a quiet and well preserved town.
Hydra is a quiet and well preserved town. It is stunningly beautiful. I loved seeing the boats and I loved swimming off the rocky beaches. I could definitely spend more time there. It's a perfect place to relax and unwind.

You can't see any explanation anywhere there is no sign , no information desk. No sign for beaches even when you find that without asking you don’t know where you are, and also island peoples don’t know English well .
We were surprised at how lovely the room was even in its simplicity, with furniture that matched the vintage building, a view over the rooftops of hydra, nice crispy sheets and an efficient AC unit. Efie and her family took great care of us and gave good advice on what to see and where to eat. The hotel was easy to get to on foot, and a few steps up from a souvenir shop where you could find Efie or a family member to help out with anything. Hydra is a magical place and staying at Pension Efie added to the charm.
The coolest, boutique style hotel ever. HUGE rooms, so modern and spacious. The owner was so friendly, helpful and chilled. They even had a help yourself fridge full of wine and just trusted you to
let them know which one you picked to pay at the end. Incredible roof top sitting area with 360 views of the port and mountains. A gorgeous, resident cat chilled in the lobby and was happy to give cuddles. So picturesque and a great location, walking distance to delicious restaurants. So happy we stayed here!
This is an excellent hotel if you are looking for somewhere to stay on a budget in Hydra. The rooms are simple but very clean and well-maintained. The breakfast is the star, different every day and cooked with various types of food. The owners are really helpful and even arranged for someone to meet us at the ferry as there were a few of us arriving at 8pm when it was already dark, which could have made it a bit difficult to find the hotel.
The hotel is absolutely stunning. It’s tastefully decorated in a historic style. The hotel is spotless and we loved access to drinking water for free all day. The breakfast was also one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had, coffee, fresh fruit, excellent eggs and bread. Hydra is absolutely gorgeous and this was the ideal base to explore the island. I want to come back every year!
Fantastic place! Beautiful little boutique hotel, right on the port (overlooking the boats, 2 min walk from where you get off the ferry). SUPER friendly staff, couldn't be more smiley and helpful. Let us leave our bags after we checked out as we had a late ferry. Gorgeous rooms, big breakfast which you can take to have on your balcony, very comfy beds. Highly recommended :)
The room is located very close to the harbor and you don't have to carry the luggage very far. The location is ideal to visit the nearby restaurants, bars and shops. The owner if very polite, helpful and flexible in arrival times. They even turned on the water heater and A/C so I could have a hot shower upon arrival. Hotel Glaros is my prefered accomodation in Hydra.
Very nice and friendly staff! All information you need they are always prompt to help you. Location is excellent! The breakfast is delicious and you can have a unique atmosphere at the beautiful garden. If you want to have a special experience, combined with history, romanticism, luxury and tranquility in Hydra I highly recommend the Orloff Boutique Hotel.
the staff were so helpful with tips about where to eat. The history of the mansion is very interning, the gardens are lovely, and there’s lots of room to relax in the bottom level. Furnishings are perfect. it’s easy to find. The whole stay at Hotel Miranda on the island of Hydra is perfect!!
It is a very beautiful hotel in a quiet street a few steps from the port. The room was very clean and speciuse facing the patio/garden. We recieved from the rsception a lot of useful information and it defenely made our trip to Hydra exciting we loved it .
The location is beautiful and quite, yet central. What we loved the most was sitting in the mornings with a cup of coffee at the beautiful balcony of the hotel. Dimitris was the nicest and recommended us on great spots to visit in Hydra and the area.
The hotel is in a great location near the harbor, offers excellent value for the money, has a welcoming and accommodating staff, well-equipped rooms, an accessible terrace, and a charming building.
We loved staying at the Angelika Hotel on Hydra. The staff were helpful and kind. The rooms were lovely, and the location was convenient. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
Overall quality of the premises and service quality of the staff. Ioanna at the reception, she is exceptional!
The 5star hotel at Hydra, such a tiny Island, can’t be better.
Friendly, relaxed central hotel on Hydra. Could be called basic, but I had ensuite, balcony and views. Access to the roof with camp kitchen/laundry was a nice touch
