With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history while embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you'll find tavernas serving tantalizing souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.
A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds of the city center.
The changing of the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here, Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The upscale districts Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.
Athens has some of the finest museums in the world, such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.
Loved Athens, busy vibes everywhere. Not quiet.
Quite a few street people asking for money, and loads of kids playing drums for money, can be annoying.
So much to see. I booked a few tours, E-bike and food tour, both excellent. Good food everywhere. Plaka, can be more pricy. Psiri, is a must see at night, great cafes. Great Graffiti Art. Would do an Art/Graffiti tour next visit.
Acropolis and Agora great to see. No queues in March.
Hop on Hop of bus okay, but city centre just gets stuck in traffic. Piraeus well worth a visit.

Athens was lively with lots of good restaurants, shops and historical sights. It's a shame there is graffiti everywhere you look, even in the "ritzy" areas. It was difficult to distinguish between ritzy and derelict areas of the city.

Athens in March is not overcrowded with tourists.
Athens in March is not overcrowded with tourists. Temperature is perfect for walking to all ancient sites and museums.
Most of the tourist restaurants have heaters outside because in the evenings it is a little too cold without coat and heater.

Definitely the place to be if you are into history and arts.
Definitely the place to be if you are into history and arts.
Also I noticed that recently it got elevated gastronomically.
Not a clean city and you could say that there is a huge pay gap between upper and lower classes. The fact that the city is not hospitable to the locals themselves, it makes it also not appealing to tourists. Everything got more expensive the last few years and you can sense that it drains the locals. Therefore if you are a person with a bit of sensitivity on social matters, it makes the whole experience awkward, to say the least. Last but not least, it doesn't feel like a safe place for women to walk alone during the night.
First time in Greece and while others travellers (on a tour we took inland) complained endlessly of their hotels in Athens, we were able to express complete satisfaction with the Jason Inn. No, it's not the Hilton: the rooms are basic, the appointments nothing fancy, and (from our windows at least) there was no view. But the locations is great, the buffet breakfast is good (with an exceptional rooftop view), the rooms clean and the staff helpful. Most importantly, it represents great value for money. Would certainly stay there again.
Staff was very nice, i asked for early check in in advance and they cleaned the room earlier so we could get in. Very center location, restaurant and supermarket nearby. Rooftop with Acropolis view is real bonus. It's not a brand new hotel but its clean and comfortable. Breakfast was standard with egg ham cheese and several greece pastry. But no complain with the price and location its worth the money. We rent family room and turned out its 2 rooms with connecting door and 2 bathroom! Great one !
We had the best stay ever! Room was super nice and super clean. Everything was in place even olive oil for cooking. My complements to the interior designer by the way!
Location is great!!! Just 50 metres from the metro and super close to Acropolis, the museum, syntagma, plaka, thhsio. . Neighbourhood is quiet and very safe. . Hosts are super friendly. . We stayed 3 kids and me. . Highly recommended to solo travelers, couples and families. . Thank you Sofia . . Thank you Greece!!!!
If your traveling to Athens, Greece on a budget then this is the perfect place to stay. The hotel has all the basics you need. It was very comfortable, centrally located in the heart of the city where you can easily get around to the many different neighborhoods and sites. Best of all the owners & staff were all really incredibly hospitable and friendly. I would recommend Hotel Tempi to anyone who are considering a short visit to Athens to stay here !!
We stayed at green suites multiple times over a 3 week trip hopping around Greece and Turkey, and we stayed multiple times for a reason! Actually, many reasons. The staff is exceptional in their professionalism and friendliness. The rooftop was cozy in the winter. The welcome drinks, regular drinks, and food were always delicious. The rooms felt luxurious and were always clean. When I return to Athens, I’ll definitely be returning to Green Suites!
Loukas , our host contacted me personally about our arrival and had very good and easy directions for us to be able to check in to the apartment at a later than usual time.
It was clean and comfortable place to stay. Hot water for showers and clean smelling sheets for the beds. We would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to stay in the main part of the City of Athens, Greece. Thanks Loukas!
Modern room, very clean, very nice staff. I was very thankful for the flowers they gave me for my birthday, that was a very kind gesture from the staff, they were also very sharp delivering the breakfast which was really good too!
I liked that you can walk to the beach and see the sunset from there. I also had the BEST calamari in all Greece from Delfinia, the nearest restaurant from the hotel.
Top notch luxury hotel in the area, with very spacious lobby with multiple seating areas, bar and unique rooftop views to the Athens sightings. Great bed, super comfortable and stylish. Food at the great hotel's restaurant was great and abundant. Reasonable prices for autumn so I will highly recommended to my friends who want to visited Greece for vacations.
The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The location is perfect to get to all sites in Athens. Syntagma Square is the best central location. It is clean but busy and has links everywhere. Ideal location with the City Sighseeing Bus around the corner, metro link at the top of the road and walking distance to Plaka.
This is a stunning hotel with the friendliest staff. We were upgraded to presidential suite and I cannot stay enough about the room. Beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable beds and our own private pool overlooking Acropolis. Rooftop restaurant was delicious. Made our trip to Greece even better. We will definitely be returning.
The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. They spoke very fluent English which was helpful compared to other hotels I stayed at in Greece. The breakfast was excellent especially for me as a bacon and eggs person rather than a granola and fruit eater. The location was in a good area and a short walk from the Acropolis.
The hotel is new and very clean. The roof terrace was a lovely surprise. The service was excellent - by far the best during our trip to Greece. The rooms are compact but wasn’t an issue for us and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the room (505) was great! We will stay here again if we re-visit Athens
The location is premium close to subway and tourist attraction. New fresh hotel with most comfortable bed during our entire stay in Greece. The room was very roomy, clean and fresh. I would definitely stay here agin during my next visit. The roof top terrace has an amazing view of the Akropolis.
Fantastic! It's right in the city center with extremely convenient transportation. The view outside the window is breathtaking, and the service is exceptionally good and considerate. It's the best hotel we've stayed in Greece.
The airport was very conveniently located near the airport making our departure from Greece go smoothly. It worked well as a stepping stone between traveling to Athens from the islands and returning home to the United States.
Downtown Athens and looking at the Acropolis on the top floor of hotel. The. Pictures cannot same enough. Wonderful. Very inexpensive. Time to go if you can. 3 days are enough. Greece is inexpensive. Travel
Very well located, rooms are clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The owner was a delight, he took his time to sit with us and tell us all about Greece and Athens. We will definitely return.
It was honestly super clean and the shower was better than i had in other apartments in greece.
If you are in athens, probably the best place to stay.
Plus a great rooftop bar
Best breakfast, we had in 4hotels in Greece on this trip . Beautiful roof top bar . Reception staff really friendly , great restaurant recommendation from kostas
