A beautiful hotel with great design and lay out, ensuring all rooms and terraces profit from the fantastic view. We loved the lighting, the view from the terrace, the exceptionally clean rooms with lovely bedding and towels. The privacy, discretion and quiet were really appreciated, and it was also lovely not to feel like we had to rush out to vacate the room for cleaning (and often it wasn’t easy leaving the luxury of that view with coffee and reading on the terrace!)
We thank Anna, Marina and Nikita on reception for helping us have such a wonderful, healthy and relaxing holiday. Particular thanks to Anna for helping with the hire car and very good advice for a nervous driver/passenger on the cliff roads and tracks of the island!) And Nikita’s map was really useful thanks. And also a big thank you to the cleaning staff and room service team, the cleaning really was exceptional and what a luxury having breakfast delivered to our terrace every morning. Thanks to Marina and all the team for such a lovely stay, and apologies for delay with review - today on a dark, cold wintery day in UK we definitely wish we were back there now!

The room was nicely decorated and cleaned regularly. Any slight issues ( door handle broke ) were immediately put right. Dimitris was very helpful with any advice required and arranged car hire at a good rate for me, also a reasonably priced taxi to meet me at the airport on arrival. The views were very good - over the harbour area and most of the Chora area up past the windmills to the castle. Sunrise worth getting up early for too. Very quiet generally . A slight slope up from the main road and just a couple of short flights of steps to the apartment. 5 minutes walk to the restaurants in Chora. Walk down to the harbour takes about 20 mins at a steady pace., passes a supermarket and grocery shop. Take your time coming back up . No rush anyway. Worth hiring a car for a few days at least ( the main road is good for most local places - further on it turns to a rocky road surface in places so you might need a jeep type car if you want to be really adventurous and visit the more remote beaches ). But most traffic is light and flows at a slowish pace and there's at least 4 beaches within 20 minutes drive that are on the good road.

Location was excellent as we stayed in the viva mare studios near the port .The owner kindly changed our room as the traditional studio was beautiful but situated high up in the village. Excellent host very helpful and obliging.

Popi was amazing - friendly, kind, generous, breakfast was thoughtfully made. The studio was brilliant, surprisingly lots of space for the small floorplan. Comfy bed. Lots of equipment for cooking. Great location central to Astypalea and the castle.

Another cute Greek island. I have been to 15+ Greek islands over 50 times in total. It is similar to many other Greek islands. Small, cute. The castle and the old town looks really lovely. We went in mid-August. Although the island had probably around 5000 visitors, because there are few restaurants and options, all places were packed. Most of my Greek friends consider Astypalaia as the best Greek island, however in my view it's fine, cute, but I wouldn't say it's more beautiful than many other Greek islands.

The Chora looks great and picturesque, especially from distance. Nice walk to the castle and great to walk in the small narrow streets.
Very few shops with art, local products/local art, or galleries though in the small streets. Instead there are mostly restaurants.
Most shops/restaurants are set around the area of the windmills which although nice, do not have real view (although if you walk to the castle you get a breathtaking view, but not while seated).
Difficult to park in busy times

I've traveled to many islands in Greece.
I've traveled to many islands in Greece. Asytpalaia is the friendliest andprettiest of them all. The town beach is clean, the other beaches like jewels. Food is generally very good and fresh.
Everything is in walking distance, some steep steps involved but you can't have the hypnotic beauty and tranquility here without a little gentle pain.
The town and streets are spotless and the numerous cats cute and well looked after by the people.
Local grocers on the port have just about everything you need and if you can possibly tire of the food at Ageri in Hora or Astropolis in Livadi theres a great Pizza and pasta place right down on the port.

Not sure I want to encourage more people to visit, as this island of less than 2,000 inhabitants is indeed a hidden gem! We were charmed and delighted by this little island as a whole, and in Chora I was pleasantly surprised to find wonderful, chic boutiques, an abundance of phenomenal tavernas, exceptional restaurants (Akti, Cucina), well balanced cocktail bars and a lively atmosphere, as well as some of the best baclava I've ever. It's not for the faint of heart as there are a lot of stairs and hills to climb to get to the castle and the port.
The initiative to get the island fully electric is also commended, Astybus was a fantastic alternative to hiring a car and we used it almost every day - there are several pick up points in Chora, which makes it a great base to explore.
We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful town with houses set on the hill down from the castle to the port. Lots of little stairs and alleys to get lost in. Spectacular views and the flowers in June were lovely. Bars and restaurants up by the windmills and also down by the port. Plenty of shops.

beautiful chora with an imposing castle that you can visit.
beautiful chora with an imposing castle that you can visit. The beaches at Livadi and the port were lovely, but a steep walk downhill to both, or steep steps down to the port. The restaurants and bars around the windmills are excellent

Our pick up from the airport was coordinated and we were driven directly to the suites to collect our key and welcome information packet from Penelope. She provided information on local eateries, beaches, best practices, etc. and she remained in contact throughout our stay. Our room was gorgeous and the jacuzzi on the terrace a perfect way to take in the beautiful views. I will second the recommendation of another traveler, book directly with Oneiro Suites to be able to pick your room (and skip the middleman).
The nicest people and best service you can hope to come across during your vacation! If you're thinking about visiting the island (and you should!), Gerani Studios should be at the top of your list for accomodations.
The rooms and facilities are impeccable, tastefully decorated, and in a very convenient location, much better than you'd think for that price range. The restaurant next door is excellent as well.
We're definitely planning to stay there again in the future.
This studio was spacious and super clean! Room was cleaned everyday. I especially liked the balcony - it was big and had a great view. The best thing about this studio is the location. it’s only a few minutes from centre square and a short flight of stairs down to the ferry port. The host was lovely and picked me up from the ferry when I arrived so I didn’t have to go up the stairs with my bags. Highly recommend Gyrouli Studios, would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is exceptional. The staff is very lovely (mainly assisting from a distance), friendly, and attentive. Late or early arrivals are not a problem. Good restaurants and attractions are in the vicinity.
The location in the old town is stunning. The rooms were clean and traditionally/rustically furnished, and the bed was comfortable. It is centrally located and close to many attractions and restaurants. AV and internet connection were also good.
Popi is a wonderful, warm and welcoming host. She met me at the port and took me to the house & even baked a welcome cake for my arrival. I stayed in the cute little house near the castle. The rooms were super clean, powerful shower and the breakfast was amazing with more home baked goods from Popi - chocolate croissants and pies. Enough food for a picnic lunch. Popi's is a beautiful place to stay - the best in Astypalai.
Wonderful hotel and fantastic breakfast - spa was also very good. The breakfast team and Marietta deserve a shout out for making us feel extremely welcome and looked after, offering lots of local recommendations, Astybus and arranging to use the spa showers before we left for the airport.
The decor in Cucina was stylish, and the food and cocktails were exceptional. We've already started planning our trip for next year.
Hands down the best hotel stay I've ever had. The PEOPLE are by far the biggest asset - Virginia, Aggeliki, Dimitra, Renie, Nantia, Roussos, Yiorgos, thank you again for such a memorable stay. From the airport pickup/drop-off with Roussos, the conversations with the ladies, the local food, tips about things to do and see, the architecture and suites themselves - couldn't have asked for more.
The room was clean and the owner really sweet and helpful. The view from the balcony(which was spacious) was amazing and the bed really comfy! The location is fine , just 2-3 mins to Astypalea centre and about 5-6 mins to Pera Gyalos beach. I recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to feel a real Greek hospitality and enjoy a great view to the beach. Value for money for sure.
Best location on island in my opinion for view and walking to restaurants, bus stop, etc. Best views are in the non studio rooms. Studio rooms are down below main level, still with a view but with a telephone pole and wires and a shared terrace. If coming for a view, get the non studio rooms. Breakfast was good and varied in choices, staff was nice..a lovely stay.
Everything was great right from arrival - the villa is amazingly located, dominating Chora with a great view and peaceful vibe. It's spacious, well decorated and extremely comfortable. The best is the hospitality of the hosts, which made all the difference to our stay and made us discover a lot more of the island.
Maistrali is also very good taverna. We had apartment above this fish taverna. We did only 10 steps and we were there. The staff of this taverna were amazing!!! And best chef lady in Astypalea! Really worth it to go there even for a dinner.
very close to the port, quiet place
Overlooks Livadi Bay with no obstructions. Beautiful at night with the moon over the bay. Five minutes from the windmills. Very safe area (the entire island is very safe). Kitchen and tues were helpful as was the washer. I stayed two weeks and felt comfortable.
Located on a quiet part off the island, next to the port with an amazing view. Very friendly and responsive owners/staff. Near the port beach, but if you want a more private beach, there's one easily accessible opposite to Chora.
Maria has been the best structure owner ever met. So kind ...always available for every request and every day let you something fresh to be eat when come back in the room. I would say my best experience
Great location. It is near the center of astypalaia town.
Also, the host was very kind. Even our ferry arrived late at night 10 PM, he came to pick us up. We will absolutely visit again.
Very friendly and a great host.
They left us more time after checking out to stay in the hotel because the ship was leaving in the afternoon.
This was something we really appreciated..
