An enchanting Arabic jewel, Muscat was already an important port in the 1st century. With a strict building code that imposes respect to heights and styles, the city has developed a harmonized and traditional look that makes it irresistible. Don’t miss the traditional Muttrah Souq marketplace, considered one of the best in the region.
The city is actually composed of three towns: Muscat is the walled Old Town where royal palaces are located; Muttrah includes the old and new harbours and the Corniche seafront; and Ruwi is the commercial and diplomatic area. Check out the Muscat hotels map on Booking.com and choose your preferred location!
The city is surrounded by the Western Al Hajar Mountains, and the crystalline waters and sandy beaches of the Arabian Sea. Staying in a Muscat hotel on the beach is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Oman views.
The modern and elegant Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the largest in the world. Don’t miss the twin forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani, and the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace.

Muscat is an amazing place to stay. Very calm people very relaxing place.. Theres so much peace in there. I love the behaviour of the people itself. Even if you are in a public places you cant hear any loud noises. I am very impressed. Its very good for my mental health. Very friendly locals. I feel completely safe.

Muscat and Oman in general is a lovely destination for outdoorsy people. Mountains and desert trips are a must. Also the coastal area is nice and Mutra is a nice area where the Royal palace and fort is. Would recommend a trip to the desert, Wadi Bani and Nizwa and Jabreen Fort. Grand mosque is lovely to see. Beaches are OK, but not really touristy. People are so friendly and welcoming. It is not easy to get around Muscat if you are walking - it is impossible, you have to get taxis or hire a car.

Best you purchase a local sim card with local Omani phone number that can only be purchased at the airport.
Local food is cheap but transport can be expensive.
Hotels are good value
Oman focus more on culture and tradition whilst up-grading most infrastructure and does not have the "show off" atmosphere of UAE

Obviously the weather is a plus at this time of year.
Obviously the weather is a plus at this time of year. Warm, but not too hot. The pole are very nice and very welcoming with a genuine interest in showing off their city and country.
There are plenty of sights that are worth a visit, be it the Grand Mosque, the National Museum, the Royal Opera House or the Mutrah Souq. You will either need a car or a taxi to get you around as the city is very spread out.
It is modern and clean, but without the high-rise buildings of the UAE and Qatar. It has a lot of charm with lots to explore both in and out of the city. We went to Nizwa for the day which was great as was the Wadi Sham and Bimmah Sinkhole on another day. We spent a week in Muscat and that covered most things to see, though had we been a bit more mobile (my wife has mobility difficulties) we would probably have ventured on more of the physical outings such as snorkelling and diving or hiking.

We stayed 6 nights in Muscat and did day trips up to 300kms (wadi shab).
Our kids (2 teenagers + 7 years old) enjoyed trails we did in Mutrah et Sidab. They loved wadi walk.
We had a good experience at Sultan Qaboos grand mosque, it's a quite quick visit.
Good time at souk Mutrah and a long the corniche, the road is busy but it's ok.

The people of Muscat are very friendly.
The people of Muscat are very friendly. You respect them, and they respect you.
Several interesting places and buildings to visit, and they have a very interesting history.
It is cheap to use taxi, but my advice is to download the Otaxi app (here you will know the exact price). If you grab a taxi from the street, they start with a much higher price, and you will have to bargain.
The beaches are great, and it is OK for women to wear bikini at the beach, but you don`t wear it outside. And you also do your sunbathing a little bit away from local families that are on the beach. You don`t bather them, they don`t bather you.
Al Bustan is an amazing palace-style hotel. The service and staff are impeccable. The grounds are manicured and feature three large pools. There is a large private beach with plenty of parasols and sunbeds. The hotel caters mostly for European guests, but there are also many locals who come to restaurants after sunset to celebrate Ramadan. Non-Muslim guests need to be aware that during Ramadan Omani hotels are not allowed to serve any alcohol in outer spaces. When coming here expect peace and quiet and no partying of any sorts.
Great location, around 15 minutes from the airport by car and with a number of restaurants close by. The staff were welcoming and helpful at all times - the service was really good. Our room was clean and looked just like the photos - I had a great night’s sleep (and I am a very light sleeper so this is a big deal!). Our first night was on a Friday when the hotel has a BBQ night with live music. The food was tasty and the performers had lovely voices - I’d recommend it. I’d happily stay here again if I visit Oman in the future.
The property is perfectly located. You can reach every spot in the city within 15 minutes (airport, harbor, Mutrah). Well the surrounding of the area isn’t the best. It doesn’t look welcoming. By feet there is a bigger supermarket reachable within 10 minutes.
My room had a coffee machine and some drinks in the minibar - everything complimentary, which I really liked!!!
The cleaning staff was also very friendly and did their job good :-)
So convenient for the airport and long distance bus station. Very short walk from the city bus stop Oman LNG_1, just behind the new Istanbul restaurant. Staff exceptionally helpful printing visa forms and boarding passes etc. Fabulous Indian restaurant attached. 24 hour service at the front desk. Parking outside the front door. Comfortable room with all facilities.
It's conveniently close to the airport - 10 minutes bus ride at the cost of 0.5 riyals, which makes it perfect starting/finishing point of a trip to Oman. The room is spacious, bed comfy, with the best pillows I've seen! Complimentary bottle of water on arrival, hot water and sealing fan (I love those) plus some decent places to eat in the area.
Everything. We started and ended our trip in Oman in this hotel. Staff are extremely kind and professional, they saved the coat that we forgot on our first visit. The room is big, clean and nicely decorated. The location was also convenient, since it is close to airport. All in all, great hotel and we hope we will come back.
The location of the hotel is fabulous, near airport and beach at the same time!
We really liked staff who were really polite and customer-oriented. They gladly responded to any of our requests. Thank you very much for making our staying so comfortable! Also we were impressed by the pool overlooking the beautiful sunset view.
Excellent staff in particular David Fernandez and his colleague who couldn't do enough for you. I had both early and late check in/outs. Location was perfect next to all the restaurants and the beach.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and excellent values as everywhere else nearby was a 5 star hotel.
The room is spacious with pool and ocean view. Bed is comfortable. Breakfast has lots of choices. It's the best stay we had throughout our trip to UAE and Oman. Great location! We should have spent one more night so we could explore more of the hotel and the beach!
The hotel is perfect for those arriving or leaving from the airport. It's well-located, nicely designed, very clean, and comfortable. Check-in and check-out was very easy. Staff were nice. Bonus points for having a café and car rental in the building.
The hotel is in an excellent location. It is in the prime area of Muscat (Al Khuwair), where you have many convenient stores nearby. Also, lot of Indian eating joints around the hotel. Considering all the positives, the property is reasonably priced.
We spent 12 days in Oman as a family, traveling and staying in 6 hotels. This one was the best of all and the pool was on the roof! I highly recommend - 4☆ comfort!
