Travelers who stayed in Rio de Janeiro near Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (GIG) have said good things about Linx Galeão, Capri Hotel, and Matiz Multi Suites.
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘ Marvelous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city, full of life , plenty of nice restaurants an beaches. Is easy to move around as there are taxis services everywhere. Most of people in Rio are friendly and ready to help. Still a bit dangerous, so be careful with your belongings as mobile phones, jewellery etc... depending on the place like shopping centres there are lot of security, but not everywhere.
For the rest is an amazing place to spend your holidays ;-)

Rio is a great place to study for example at the PUC University in Ipanema or at the UFF in Niteroi. Perfect place to practice sports and meet friendly people! Highly recommend to explore Rio by bike, also surfing in Ipanema is great, not to forget paragliding and sailing. Would love to play football or volleyball at the beach with locals next time and visit the Museum of Modern Art. You might enjoy the pubs, salsa bars and live music in Santa Teresa and Lapa - I have joined a group, felt safe and comfortable. Beautiful beaches and exotic nature.

We arrived for final night at the Sambadrome, with about 70,000 people, and it was so amazing and wonderful! We felt safe the whole 2-1/2 weeks in Rio and also when we flew north to Salvador. We loved Rio. Cariocas are friendly and they like to have a good time. We liked the beaches, the scenery, the food, the prices (coming from the very expensive American northeast) and the pace!

Rio is just amazing.
Rio is just amazing. Taking usual travelers' precautions, with an extra care on where your belongings are when you're walking in crowds, then you're safe. Food is great and people are lovely. Recommended to learn basic portuguese or even a bit of spanish before you go, so you can have a more pleasant experience. Sort out your roaming or phone before you go there (e-sims are life-saving but make sure your phone is compatible). Jesus is incredible as expected, and recommended to visit as early in the day as possible. I'm going again for sure.

I was extremley dissapointed with Rio
It felt like I was travelling back to a Soviet era grey communist era city.
Dull stained concrete buildings
No modern infrastructure
Very few modern buildings
The hostel is in an excellent part of Rio with easy access to the Metro for the city as a whole. The area is safe even at night and we never had any issues!
The facilities are great and the staff are super friendly!
Some people complain about the steps - they are not that bad. About six flights up which is tough with your bags in the heat, but no reason not to book this amazing hostel!
Remember this is a hostel, if you are looking for luxury there are plenty of overpriced hotels in Copacabana!
Say hello to the Macau!
- Large, comfy bed
- Lovely view from rooftop of the endless beach. Great to swim in the rooftop pool
- Good location 2 mins walk away from the beach and under 10 mins walk from a number of good and lively restaurants. (Obviously is in Barra da Tijuca so far away from major tourist hotspots like Ipanema, Copacabana, Santa Teresa, Centro, Lapa)
- Friendly and helpful reception staff who spoke fluent English
- 17 floors but lots of modern lifts meant you weren't waiting ages
- V clean
- Midday checkout always a bonus!
The location is incredible. Just a few streets and you're in the middle of copacabana beach walking its famous "Calçadão". There are lots of services around the corner from pharmacies to small snack bars - the closer to the beach the more refined it gets.
The metro is right in front of the entrance of the hotel - so it's quite easy to leave your stuff af the hotel and go to Lapa/Cinelandia or meet friends around the southern area of Rio, in botafogo, flamengo or ipanema.
The location is unbeatable. It literally is a 3-minute walk from Leblon Beach (nicer than Copacabana and Ipanema). There are many amazing restaurants to choose from nearby. It has a really vibrant atmosphere and it felt safe to walk around. Linda is an amazing hostess - helpful, passionate, welcoming. We felt like we got to be part of her life for the five nights we spent in her home. And she has a really cute cat!!!
The location is excellent. The hotel is just a short walk from both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches and close to Arpoador as well if you want to catch the sunset.
The rooftop pool also has an incredible panoramic view of 2 Irmãos, Pão de Açúcar and Arpoador.
The beds aren't the most comfortable, but the rooms are spacious and clean.
I enjoyed my stay and will stay here again in the future
Location (not your typical Rio hotel on Copacabana/Ipanema), this hotel is literally on a very nice small beach (not private, but easily accessible and safe), great breakfast with lots of options, comfortable room with great sea view. Very helpful concierge desk. Bikes available for a stroll over Leblon/Ipanema beaches. Good restaurants on the resort.
Hotel is located right in front of Copacabana beach, is easy to access, very close to subway and bus stops. Staff are very helpful, checkin was smooth as possible and so was checkout. Breakfast is very generous, and staff at the restaurant really give the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Is really value for money at a great location in Rio.
The staff at this hotel are amazing. Everyone from check-in to the bell hops, cleaning staff, bar tenders - all exceptional. The breakfast is great with a huge selection of items and again, amazing restaurant staff. We liked the quieter location but still being in Copacabana, and being close enough to Ipanema that we could walk if we wanted to.
Originally when we booked into this hotel they put us in a VERY small room with a view of a brick wall. We asked the front desk if we could switch rooms. Our second room was beautiful. Clean, spacious, the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very kind about helping us switch rooms. Location was a 10min walk from Copacabana Beach
The view from our room from level 26 we could see the whole Copacabana.
The hotel is located nearby the beach, you only need to cross the boulevard. Also very accessible for uber/taxi.
In front of the hotel is located a desk to book tours, but more expensive than the ones you can get the other side of the street on the beach.
It is the most amazing hostel/hotel on Copacabana! Owners are very attentive, the dorms are absolutely equipped with everything you need, there are plenty of programs organized for your stay. very clean, close to everything- beach, restaurants. very safe area, and the hospitality is outstanding!
The residence itself is a part of the Real Palace Hotel just around the corner 20m. Everything you need is there: tour desk, excellent breakfast etc. The Copacabana beach is just 100m away, Ipanema beach 45 min. walk. Great location! Frendly staff, especially Mario. Wi-fi good. Clean and safe!
The hotel is very clean and the service is great. It's on a top location in Copacabana (even though I would recommend Ipanema). There are many restaurants and stores around the hotel and the breakfast is aweeome! The room was pretty nice, too.
The hotel located just two blocks to Copacabana Beach, a nice sandy beach and next to 24 hours restaurants. The area is safe and vibrant. Easy access to Ipanema beach where full of shops and restaurants. The staff is very nice and helpful.
Everything in the hotel was according to expectations. The hotel staff was very friendly and always took care of our needs. The location is perfect, in front of Copacabana Beach and close to Ipanema, Leblon, restaurants and bars.
Very nice hotel in one of the best locations of Rio de Janeiro. The area around is very safe even in the evening. 5 min to Copacabana beach makes it a perfect location. The staff is very helpful and rooms are large and clean.
Great hotel and location within steps of Ipanema beach and Copacabana Beach is right around the corner. Good food and drinks at the pool top bar and a wonderful breakfast buffet to get you going for the day.
Excellent location right between Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Good facilities and friendly hotel staff. Let me store my bag after check out before my flight that night
