Travellers who stayed in Rio de Janeiro near Rio de Janeiro/Galeao International Airport (GIG) have said good things about Linx Galeão, Capri Hotel and Matiz Multi Suites.
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – unforgettable. It doesn’t end there though. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, whose trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take the funicular railway up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘Marvellous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.
Great area. Walking distance to the beach. The employees were excellent. I just felt bad that they have to tell clients that the pool closes at 17:00. Too early as after getting back to the hotel after 17:00 I could not use the pool. Which has an amazing view.

10 days in this town is enough to visit all the interesting places and of course the Beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema .For me the best was the beach outside the town taking Metro to last station Jardim Botanico .The sand more white the water more clean not so much crowded and the prices much lower.Visiting the interestig places in the city quite easy I strogly recomend to go to Placa XV and use ferry boat to go to Paqueta island also to cross the Guanabara bay to Niteroi and find bar Imperio do Sabor with the best caipirinha and sardines served there.

Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city, full of life , plenty of nice restaurants an beaches. Is easy to move around as there are taxis services everywhere. Most of people in Rio are friendly and ready to help. Still a bit dangerous, so be careful with your belongings as mobile phones, jewellery etc... depending on the place like shopping centres there are lot of security, but not everywhere.
For the rest is an amazing place to spend your holidays ;-)

Rio is a great place to study for example at the PUC University in Ipanema or at the UFF in Niteroi. Perfect place to practice sports and meet friendly people! Highly recommend to explore Rio by bike, also surfing in Ipanema is great, not to forget paragliding and sailing. Would love to play football or volleyball at the beach with locals next time and visit the Museum of Modern Art. You might enjoy the pubs, salsa bars and live music in Santa Teresa and Lapa - I have joined a group, felt safe and comfortable. Beautiful beaches and exotic nature.

We arrived for final night at the Sambadrome, with about 70,000 people, and it was so amazing and wonderful! We felt safe the whole 2-1/2 weeks in Rio and also when we flew north to Salvador. We loved Rio. Cariocas are friendly and they like to have a good time. We liked the beaches, the scenery, the food, the prices (coming from the very expensive American northeast) and the pace!

The most beautiful city with the best swcenery.
The most beautiful city with the best swcenery. Anywhere you go, you see the beach, the Sugar Bush and Christo. I loved being there and wish i had more time to stay for another week. It is vibrant and full of life. We had a brunch at Copacabana Palace! first class :)
Firstly, the staff was just amazing. They were professional, helpful, and friendly. I was pleased with my room. It was spacey and the bed was huge. Large bathroom. Everything was absolutely clean. There is a desk, an extra table and another table on the balcony. There is a small fridge in the room as well. Really appreciated the blackout curtains. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, pretty much everything is walking distance. It is at the crossroads of Copacabana and Ipanema. I would definitely stay again.
The staff were fantastic. Young, very capable and kind Brazilian people. Fabulous! The room was great with a super view of the Santa Teresa Convent. The rooftop terrace has a spectacular view of Lapa. I stayed for 5 weeks and was made to feel like part of a family....the Selina Lapa family. The garden space was wonderful too. I very much hope to return! Thank you to the brilliant young Brazilians working at the hotel. You made my stay magical!
The localisation of the hotel is great (30min by taxi/uber from GIG Airport, 5min walk from Copacabana beach, and 10min walk to Ipanema). Lots of store around to eat, drink and buy convenience products.
The staff is really helpful and nice. The room was a great size and has AC, the bathroom too and everything was clean.
Breakfast was kind of buffet with many choice (eggs, sausage, bread, jam, honey, coffee, milk…) and was tasty.
Amazing price for the location (Copacabana Beach was a 5 minute walk), the room was clean, and the staff are friendly. There’s even a security guard by the front door/lobby so we always felt safe coming and going from the hotel. A front desk staff even went above and beyond by doing research and printing out the info for us when we were trying to buy tickets to a soccer game at the Maracanã Stadium!
Pura Vida is a special place. The hostel itself is really pretty, dorms and common areas are on this big old mansion and the private rooms are on separate buildings so you get more privacy and quiet. Copacabana is not even five minutes away and you can also get to Ipanema very quickly. The vibe in the hostel is pretty fun, they have a bar every day and organize outings to parties all the time.
Everything was perfect! Marcia was an excellent hostess and made me feel right at home for my first visit to Rio! The staff was very friendly and any questions or concerns I had during my trip Marcia answered with the utmost speed and professionalism via whatsapp. The property is conveniently located next to bars, fine dining, shops, all the hotels on Copacabana and tours. Excellent!!
The things I liked:
- Great location between Copacabana and Ipanema
- The room was spacious and had a small fridge
- Housekeeping was great, the cleaner kept the room tidy and clean throughout the week
- Breakfast was very good too
- Friendly staff in the breakfast area
- Excellent value for money. I was there during Carnaval and the price was very good
- spotless customer service. I believe it is the best I have ever experienced
- big spacious rooms, closets, bathrooms
- convenient location in the heart of the Copacabana beach
- very delicious breakfast with many options. Staff suggests a lot of new things to try. Very pleasant experience
- 2 Michelin restaurants right on the hotel area
Breakfast was great as I found fresh fruit, continental, and traditional English breakfast as a superb selection available both mornings. I appreciated the kind personnel at the reception who was always willing to help when needed. Location of the hotel is also very central which makes it easy to access Copacabana , Ipanema beaches...
I went during New year time...Dec 29 to Jan 2nd...my main reason to choose this property was the price range; if not I would have chose hotel in Copacabana area ..but the price range would have gone 60-70% higher for a Copacabana area Hotel during new year time. This location is good for Samba style night life ...thats all.
It was a nice stay at Royal Rio Palace, the breakfast was excellent and staff were really kind. The pool area is excellent place to spend the day, the location allows you to walk to Copacabana beach and walk around the neighbour to have real Rio de Janeiro feeling.
The location is very nice and the hotel is conveniently located between Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The room was nice and comfortable although it was very humid so it was hard for the towels to dry. The breakfast was nice and tasty with many options to choose.
the best price in Rio de Janeiro, good standard in the hotel , because a lot of hotels in Rio is old inside, but here is almost like new, good food in the breakfast, dinner for 40 real and you can eat how much you want 👍🏻 20-30 real with Uber to copacabana beach
Excellent location close to most popular beaches Copacabana and Ipanema. The service was great, good breakfast and nice staff. The room was comfortable and good shower, little old style room though. My son also liked the hotel!
Can definitely recommend it!
One of my favorite hotels in Copacabana, when the price allows I always try to book here. The renovated rooms are very stylish and the old ones still have a jacuzzi installed if you're lucky.
Very friendly and helpful staff and cozy little rooftop pool.
Breakfast was great, better than I expected for a budget hotel. Location was around 7 min walk to Botafogo subway station which was our main mode of transportation during Carnaval. Room was very clean and beds comfortable. The AC was working perfectly.
The location of this lovely hotel was unique. All hotels in Ipanema and Copacabana are on the opposite side of a busy street to the beech. This hotel is directly on the beach. The rooms are beautifully designed and have everything you need.
Breakfast was exceptional. Location is ideal. Room exceeded my expectation. Staff were very attentive and professional. An absolute privilege to have stayed at the Miramar by Windsor Hotel in Copacabana.
The location of the Orla hotel is perfect, on Copacabana beach and very close to Ipanema. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was good value for money over the carnival holiday.
