Called the Amber Capital of the World, Gdańsk is the major shipping seaport and the most beautiful city along the Polish Baltic coast. It has everything from fascinating history and great architecture to a friendly atmosphere!
Also known as Danzig due to its complex past with periods of Polish, German and self-rule, the city is part of the Tricity urban area together with the port city of Gdynia and the popular spa town Sopot. It’s also a birthplace of the world-famous Solidarity movement, which helped to bring down Communist rule in Poland, initiating the end of the Cold War era.
Its charming buildings were rebuilt in a historical style after the city's near-complete destruction during World War II. You can admire the colorful townhouses of the Old Town by boat on the Motlawa River or by strolling down the popular Long Street and Long Market.
While in Gdańsk, make sure you visit the 15th-century St. Mary’s Church, the largest brick church in Europe, and make a wish at the Neptune Fountain, the city’s patron. While in town, try the legendary local Goldwasser liqueur with 22 karat gold flakes!
Whether you reach Gdańsk by train or plane, Booking.com has a variety of accommodations near the Lech Walesa Airport, the picturesque Old Town or the general city center.

Despite not being an architect, the historic buildings took my breath away. The old town is generally very clean and maintained. to every place you can go by foot. If using a car, I recommend to learn upfront where the parking places are otherwise you get nerves:)
Do not forget to visit Sopot and Gdynia as well. And when you have some more time, the Slowinski park narodowy with the sand dunes is a must-see.

A lovely city.
A lovely city. I've done a guided tour of the city, went for food and drinks (you must try their winter teas), walked along the river. Also, very easy to go to Malbork from there, which is not to be missed.

Do a city tour as there is plenty of local history.
Do a city tour as there is plenty of local history. Must see attractions are the WW2 museum and European Solidarity Centre. If you have the time go out to Westerplatte site and memorial. Try Polish cuisine at one of the local milkbar (diner) restaurants, traditional cuisine and great value for money.

Gdańsk, a jewel of the Baltic Sea, dazzles with its remarkable architectural heritage and rich gastronomy. At the heart of the old town, cobbled streets take you on a journey through the ages, where colorful facades and Gothic buildings like the imposing Saint Mary's Church recount the city's rich history. Furthermore, local cuisine tantalizes the senses with its culinary delights. Picturesque restaurants offer traditional Polish dishes such as pierogi and żurek, while modern establishments serve innovative fusion cuisine. Waterfront eateries add an extra dimension to the gastronomic experience, providing fresh seafood in a spectacular setting, making it a true celebration for the palate.
Gdańsk's old town is a veritable architectural treasure trove, where every corner holds unique beauty and history. Iconic structures like the medieval crane and city gates bear witness to the city's glorious maritime past. Visitors can also admire the intricate architectural details of the adorned gabled houses lining the narrow streets. Meandering through the bustling streets, travelers encounter a harmonious fusion of historic architecture and modern touches, creating a captivating and memorable atmosphere at the heart of Gdańsk.

Just google the opinions about Gdansk.
Just google the opinions about Gdansk. As overall they must be more reliable than mine. I've spent two third of my life in 'Trójmiasto' and will always highly recommend to visit this and many nearby places.

We went to visit it in December, and it was lovely!
We went to visit it in December, and it was lovely! We did not expect it to be such a cute and enjoyable city-break. It is a clean, safe and gorgeous city! Just walking on the streets is enough, no need to visit a lot (even though you can). The nature and beaches around the city are accessible and beautiful as well. We highly recommend visiting the city and next time we will spend a longer time there, for sure.

- generous hospitality
- powerful, hot shower
- cosy beds with extra blankets
- lots of storage space
- rapid and helpful communication, very fast check in
- lovely bistro opposite
- super location
- near cash points and taxi rank
- Bozena is the loveliest person and responds quickly to queries and questions
- without a doubt my number 1 choice of places to stay in Gdańsk
Honestly, the best thing about this hotel is the spa, the pool is excellent (with various settings, it even has an air bubble area), the hot tub is pleasant, and you have sauna area in different mode. The safety staff was very kind, they even helped me to turn on the bubbles when I was struggling with it a bit.
The location is excellent, you just have to cross the bridge and you will see a gorgeous old town. Actually, the river itself is a beauty. And the room is pleasant, the size is nice.
This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished, and the facilities were comfortable and working flawlessly.
The breakfast was really delicious and with many options, also, different every day.
The hotel location is very good – while it is away from the main streets, everything in the center is very easily accessible by foot.
The front desk is available 24/7 and the staff in general was very kind and helpful.
The hotel is very well located; it is exactly where you want to be in the Old Town. The staff at the front desk polite and helpful. My room was spacious, clean and well equipped. It was nice to have a little fridge, a working desk, a sofa and a relatively big bathroom. The air conditioning was working very well and rather quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The elevator is a huge plus. Pretty good restaurant; I recommend it.
Location is perfect. Quite and close to park/beach. You can easily visit Sopot or Gdansk if you want. But for us most important was to be close to the beaches that are not too crowded ( Brzezno/ Jelitwkowo) The best ting is probably rent bike but it very close to walk also.
We have got ALL help we needed and even more. Quit answer to our questions. One of the best place we have been to. Prepare yourself to RELAX
Breakfasts in Scandic hotels are great. They were until 11, which is good for me as do not wake up early. Hotel stuff were very helpful in all our requests, thank you guys!
Location is good, parking near the hotel is convenient and pretty cheap. Getting to old town is quick and easy, route goes through nice parks and sight spots.
The room view to the station was top notch!
The room itself was incredibly tidy and spacious. The kitchenette was a nice size and even came fitted with a dishwasher, and plenty pots and pans.
Hotel is in an amazing location, right in the city centre next to the Basilica and so many other great attractions. Our window had a great view of the basilica of St Mary as well as the town hall (museum of Gdańsk).
Location is very convenient - 15 min walk from the central railway station, 5 min from museum of WW2, in the old town. Spacious and clean room and bathroom.
Breakfasts a la carte were superb - from oatmeal to scrambled eggs with baby-calamary. The dinners at Zafishowani restaurant at hotel were fantastic too. Our respect and many thanks to the hotel kitchen.
Had a great stay here. Hotel is a little dated in parts but makes up for this in cleanliness, helpful and friendly staff, an excellent location, street-sided parking nearby and a very short walk from the Old Town and the main sites. Breakfast was great and the spa was nice if small and the massage a bit light. I recommend and would stay again.
The best part abouy the hotel was the location! Very central and close to all the main attractions of Gdansk (and ~15 minutes on foot from the public bus stop to the airport). The double room was great, very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast had a variety of options and some of them were changing every few days.
The hotel was really great, the room was clean, staff was really helpful and kind even when we arrived for check in at 2 am because our flight was severely delayed. We had a pleasant stay here, enjoyed the SPA, and had a really delicious and rich breakfast. And it is really close to the city's centre and old town.
The design of the facility was perfect. It also had spa and massage which we did not have enough time to go to but it was a perfect option that any hotel could have. The location of the hotel was perfect, close to everything. We were usually walking to old town or the mall.
Good location for walking to the old town, museums and restaurants. Good breakfast. Also you can book a free boat ride on the river through the hotel. The hotel has a nice patio area along the river perfect for grabbing a beer and relaxing.
Been here before, and can highly recommend. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Beautiful rooms. The hotel is close to the old town with plenty of restaurants nearby. An Uber takes you in less than 30 minutes to the airport.
Quite recently opened, in the heart of the old town with many restaurants, cafes and shops in the vicinity. The facilities within the hotel are great as well.
