I first visited the area in 2004 on a coach tour, I've now been there four times including the coach tour. Twice I stayed at the same property near the train station and this last time the other end of town close to Santa Susanna. I don't plan on going back in the foreseeable future but I would recommend anyone going to that area. If you have a car visit Tossa de Mar, very picturesque and a lovely drive through the mountains. Calalla is cheaper for food than Malgrat de Mar.

Two cities are very near from the Malgrat de Mar.
Two cities are very near from the Malgrat de Mar. The Botanical garden in Blanes is very beautiful & offers stunning view of the rocky sea side. The Castle in the Tossa de Mar is also must visiting attraction. A boat ride with glass bottom gives glimpse of sea bed & it takes into the caves formed over the millions of years.

When we first arrived we didn’t know that the train line runs straight past the hotels, no all only on the main street, as we arrived late at night. Nor did we know that if you have a transfer they drop you off in the street and have to use the subway to reach some hotels, ours being one. You really must ask for detailed directions from the driver as our first driver didn’t, just said down there nor did he tell us where to go for our return journey. Saying that having the train line in front of our hotel we didn’t hear them much and they don’t go on all night. We have just returned from our 3rd trip so it hasn’t put us off! This time we used a taxi as it turned out around the same price as a transfer but we went from Girona airport, which is closer, straight out the airport and straight into a taxi and dropped off right outside hotel. Nice shops, restaurants, bars and a train station. Train cost around 10 euros to Barcelona. There is a vegan restaurant in the old town. Found Malgrat de Mar to be a friendly place to be in. We stayed in an adult only hotel so can’t really comment on entertainment for children. We did see large inflatables in the sea though don’t know how old children have to be to us them. There is quite a bit of graffiti, which is a shame as our first reaction was shock but we got past that once we had a look round. It’s not party central but does have the bars that I could only wish I got ID for! We went to a bar called Champions, which families use and the younger ones use as a start off point. Just down from there is a tobacconist where you can also exchange your money. Hope this was of some use.

We went for 4 days organised by a others I personally wouldn’t pick the resort again because I drive for work this place is is really far from Barcelona airport that renting a car was the just another expense that and an hours drive then parking not ideal for our hotel , taxi costs € 155 from Barcelona and the same back although if don’t mind trains and public transport it’s a lot cheaper but do research routes etc as they take longer . The beach isn’t great , man made and very stoney and not enjoyable for casual use , local food was good though

Some nice bars and a few restaurants but not masses of choice.. lots of graffiti everywhere even on the trains!
It was a little bit smelly in places. I preferred Blanes and would travel there next time.

I very much liked the room I was given at the top of the hotel with private terrace and beautiful views. The food and drinks were good and reasonable. the flooding on Friday night of the lobby area was
an experience to remember, but overall it was a good stay. Too bad I was alone there to attend a wedding. It would have been even nicer if I had someone to share it with, but it was within walking distance to the venue for the beach wedding so really worked out well.
Wouldn’t say it’s a 4* hotel but the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had fizz on arrival, they put a bottle in our room too which we thought was a nice touch. Food was decent quality, plenty of selection every day.
We were a group of 4 women, most of the other guests were couples and we were almost the only British people. This was ideal for us but if you’re looking for a British hotel this is not it. All of the staff do speak fluent English but most of the residents are not brits.
Room with side views of the sea and the hotel pool. The room was clean and spacious for 3 people.
We liked that when choosing 2 meals a day, you can eat the second time at any time from 13 to 21 o'clock, that´s very convenient, depending on the day you can have lunch or dinner.
Great seafood meal on Saturday. Good and interesting ready-made salads for dinner, delicious fruits (watermelons, figs, melons).
The reception staff was friendly.
Hotel close to the beach.
On the website, it says that there is a parking lot, but it is actually a city parking lot, not from the hotel. You cannot drive to the entrance of the hotel. The air conditioner works desperately and you can still feel some stench from the air conditioner. When you return to the hotel late, say from 1 to 3 a.m. sometimes there is no one at the reception and you cannot enter the hotel. Loud noise in the morning from the cleaning lady.
Very comfortable hotel, nice location not far from beach. Very clean. We also stayed half board. From a moment spent perspective this is was good value for money. Meal times were a bit like a conveyer belt and a free for all but on the whole food quality was good and kept fresh. One downside for me was the pool was uncomfortably cold, I personally couldn’t bear the cold for too long which put a bit of a downer on it for me.
Great location of the hotel right on the beach, close to the sea. Beautiful view from the window. The staff is friendly, any request was solved quickly. The territory of the hotel is well maintained. Very convenient that there is its own parking lot. In walking distance to restaurants, stores, train station. I recommend it for a family vacation with children. Special thanks to Senora Ebba!!!
+ The location of the house. Really awesome. Directly at the beach. Just amazing. The view from the terrace having breakfast or lunch. Super nice.
+ The host Gary: Like the other says, super nice guy. Helpful. Always there for you
+ Hot tube
+ Every room has an air condition
+ Walk distance to supermarket
+ Backyard is directly connected to the beach
The staff of the hotel were wonderful. The hotel is fine if you are expecting 3 star accommodations. I had no problem with it as this was what we were expecting. We also had a bathroom with no door for the shower area, which was not comfortable for us (family with adult children and young teen). But that may not bother others.
A feel of luxury without being pompous. Adults only but still managing to have an upbeat vibe. The pool area worked well as there was no scrabbling for beds. Food and drink prices were realistic and value for money without ripping people off so you felt you could stay around the hotel rather than have to go out.
When we arrived the check-in process was very easy and the people that worked at the reception were very friendly. The hotel had an outdoor pool, sauna and hot tub free of charge and the place is very clean. For the price we paid we can not complain as it is a good value for what they offer.
The hotel has a great view on the beach, the parking is available for free outside or on the private parking of the hotel for 10e/night
The food is delicious
The staff are great, the room are renovated and clean
I'd love to go back again to this hotel
First of all I like the location because train station is really near, city center also and a lot of stores and markets. Beach is also across the Hotel. Staff is friendly and very nice. Food is also fine but nothing slecial.
Staff is friendly and helpfull. It is a busy hotel in a touristic place. We had to be there for a wedding and the hotel was ok for what we needed. A parking, good night sleep in a clean room and breakfast. But nothing more.
We've visited this hotel in weekend and we have a really good experience. The room was very nice with extremely beautiful view. The personal of the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
