A town synonymous with sherry, dancing horses and motorsports, Jerez de la Frontera also features the typical Andalusian traits of gorgeous sunshine, elaborately painted tiles and rhythmic flamenco.
The latter was reportedly born here and the town is home to the Andalusian Center of Flamenco. Nearby is the "bodega" of Harveys, a sherry brand with great wine cellar tours. Others include Pedro Domecq – the oldest – and the internationally acclaimed Tio Pepe.
There's no shortage of horse statues all over town and a park houses the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, a dressage riding school with public performances. The annual Jerez Horse Fair is an even more spectacular event that takes over the whole town. The town is also teeming with bike enthusiasts during the Spanish Moto GP, the same circuit that hosts pre-season F1 testing.
Other sights include Jerez Alcázar, an 11th-century Moorish castle, and the multifaceted cathedral which is beautifully lit at night. Plaza del Mercado has the archaeology museum and part of the city walls surround the historic center. The Hammam Andalusí has a wonderful Arab baths experience, and the Cartuja monastery provides delicious soul food.
Booking.com’s Jerez de la Frontera accommodations include 5-star hotels with pools, cheap apartments and guesthouses near the train station, with direct connections to Jerez Airport.
We loved it. The centre of Jerez was full of bars, restaurants and cafes. Our stay was three nights. We packed in a day trip to Cadiz by train, visited Tio Pepe for tour and tasting and Andalusian horse show. All done on foot. We stayed Sun to Weds and not all the restaurants we had been recommended were open however, Las Banderillas was fantastic and highly recommended. I would definitely return at this time of year.

We absolutely loved Jerez de la Frontera.
We absolutely loved Jerez de la Frontera. Although it's not 'on the map' like Cordoba or Sevilla, it's a really attractive and sizeable town with plenty to see and do. We visited Bodegas Tradicion and would highly recommend. We also went to the Andalusian Equestrian school which was good and the Alcazar was really great. We were lucky enough to be there during Santa Semana so it was interesting to see the Catholic traditions.

Little gem of a small Spanish city.
Little gem of a small Spanish city. Lively , authentic town bustling with cafes bars and restaurants. It’s definitely a poor relation to Seville but it felt self , friendly and less touristy than other popular Spanish destinations. Can walk around city easily . Great food options

The apartment was in the best location off one of the very popular squares where all the tour guides meet. There are so many bars/restaurants/cafes around here, it was hard to choose from but they were all good. The car parking was easy and close to walk to. However, it is best to park the car and walk around Jerez de la Frontera which is very easy and the best way to see and experience everything. Jerez is famous for its Andalusian horses and the Show is amazing and worth seeing. Flamenco is everywhere and again, try and see this in a bar or two while you have a tapas. It is also famous for its sherry growing and a tour around one of the sherry places is a must. However, check the reviews before you book a tour as not all are good value. On top of all the historic and beautiful buildings, there is a lot in Jerez to keep you interested and active.
I would avoid the Tio Pepe sherry tour as we felt this was a real scam. A silly carnival tractor that took you very slowly around the owner's garden followed by a tour that, depending on the tour guide, could have been so much more interesting but mostly concentrated on advertising Tio Pepe and their brands around the world. The tasting at the end was appalling - no tasting notes or explanations of the wines. Just all put on your table at once with a few nuts/ham/cheese and left.

Jerez is an amazing and off the beaten track town in Spain.
Jerez is an amazing and off the beaten track town in Spain. Very conservative and traditional, the locals know how to have fun their way. I've decided to move to Jerez in the next 5 years - I love it so much!

Unfortunately arrived on a Sunday and a lot of places closed but were able to get a restaurant table. Shops were opened on Monday but some eateries and bars were still closed. We spent good time at our accommodation which had a pool.

Virginia and her assistant Maria José were extremely helpful and friendly to feel at home at ‘la Gitanilla’ and with giving suggestions to experience the best of/in Jerez de la Frontera. The hotel has 10 rooms and a cosy roof terrace (where also the breakfast is served) with a nice view at the cathedral. The hotel and its rooms are very clean and tastefully decorated and we will absolutely recommend ‘la Gitanilla’ to our friends, as this small boutique hotel and its owners deserve it !!
Nice room with all that we needed for a day/night in Jerez. It is a fair walk into the City centre, however we didn’t mind. Some may wish to be closer. The breakfast and breakfast room was very nice overlooking the pool. We also had an evening meal in the restaurant, which was excellent. Staff in all areas were first class, particularly Alex; who checked us in. He was very helpful and spoke very good English.
What the Nuevo Hotel lacks in elegance and opulence, it makes up for with character and charm. For accessing many of Jerez’s restaurants and bars, it quite simply couldn’t be better located.
Those who need pampering should look elsewhere, but those who want to immerse themselves in the authenticity of this beautiful city should take advantage of this hotel’s exceptional value.
- comfortable parking (a bit small, but just as every underground parking in Spain),
- great location - a walking distance from the centre, but quiet neighbourhood,
- a shop just opposite the building,
- nice bars and restaurants within 5 min of walk,
- efficient air conditioning,
- large and comfortable apartment,
- a bottle of water waiting for us in the fridge.
What an incredibly beautiful welcome to an equally beautiful hotel.
Staff, beyond helpful. The room, beyond comfortable, stylish and welcoming. The hotel, above and beyond gorgeous, perfectly located and reasonably priced. We were made to feel at home the entire stay. I just wish we booked for an additional night. This hotel and Jerez deserve your full attention.
The first is the location. A stone's throw from all attractions. Cathedral right outside the window.
The second is the concept. The hotel and the winery are one. The hotel offers an excursion to the winery. The third is the staff. Very friendly and willing to accommodate guests' requests. And one of the best is the rooftop patio overlooking the historic city.
Location! Located in the old town of Jerez de la Frontera, it is 500 meters from the cathedral and the Alcázar, visit the famous Jerez wineries as well as the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and the bullring, 10 minutes walk.
Many bars and restaurants, tablaos flamencos and tabancos.
Construction going on next to hotel. The heat did not work. The tub/shower needed an anti slip mat, guess they'll put one in after someone hurts or kills themselves!
Poor management. I suggest you go elsewhere! I will never stay at another Soho Boutique anywhere. They lost me as a client.
Everything was amazing 😍. We travelled Spain for 2 weeks and this was by far the best accommodation we had in that time. Rooms are very clean, staff is able to speak fluent english, it's close to the city centre and in a quiet neighbourhood. The Rooftop chillout area is really nice also.
The flat was immaculate and very comfortable with every need catered for. It was easy to drive to and was easy walking to the city centre, perfect. An added bonus is that there is a yummy patisserie just over the road! Raoul was very helpful and spoke excellent English
Beautiful boutique hotel. Spacious rooms with lovely furnishings. The staff is very friendly and there's a very nice breakfast. The hotel is minutes away from all the great sights in Jerez. This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations.
Located in the very center it was easy to get around. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions and things to do. The room was fresh and clean, it was very peaceful to sleep. Breakfast was good, we didn't miss anything.
Great city center location, and it is easy to find. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Very comfortable and well laid out rooms. We enjoyed our buffet breakfast. Thank you.
Fabulous hotel, as are the people who staff it. The attention to detail is impeccable and the property is a gem in a relatively sleepy little town like Jerez de la Frontera.
The hotel is beautifully equipped and very well run. A ten minute walk to the city centre and on site parking are really good features.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding!
Probably the best 1* hotel I have ever been. Ample room, ample bathroom, great TV, nice swimming pool and recreational areas. Staff super kind and perfect cleanliness.
