Guadix is a town with the charm of old times, a little sleepy.. there is very interesting part of city with cave dwellings (cuevas)
We missed to visit Cathedral museum. But we had a very nice trip to foothills of Sierra Nevada.
There is nice restaurant Liceo Accitano on the Plaza de la Constitución, popular for local people (which we like)

Look forward to returning to spend more time.
Look forward to returning to spend more time. Good to explore the barrio of the caves, the local church is free entry with a small museum and lots of cave rooms to explore. The alcazar was being renovated in autumn 2023 so will visit again -
The historical centre and modern part of town are both great to visit with lots of good value resteraunts, cafes, traditional architecture and a nice plaza major.
The city is situated in a unique area of Spain with nearby deserts and surrounding rock formations.
Excellent area for buying traditional ceramics.

Guadix is a friendly, small city/town, with a magnificent cathedral. There's not too much else to see, but wandering around the quiet streets of the old town is a pleasure in itself. There are a few good bars and restaurants. The cave area is interesting for a quick visit. All in all, Guadix seems like a nice place to break a journey and spend the night, but probably not worth going out of your way for a special trip.

The caves are a must when at Guadix and to stay in them isa great experience. The town was lively with an interesting historic quarter, a cabildo and a cathedral dominating the town. Plenty of place for tapas or dinner and all well served.

Guadix is not only the Cave neighbourhood, the old town has a fascinating history and historical monuments to visit. In the surroundings there are also amazing walks and views into the badlands. The food offer unfortunately is quite poor and not very appealing.
There is also an amazing tradition on ceramics and you can shop very beautiful and special pieces.

Fascinating to walk around the area of the cave houses and we can recommend a vist to the cave museum to learn more. Also we strongly recommend you have dinner at restuarante Vinoteca El Refugio (Plaza de la Constitución Junto Correos) as we had a fanstastic meal there.
The cave house was marvellous and fully met my expectations. A friend had stayed there previously so I did know that it was going to be good. It is in a great location about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Guadix. The owner was helpful and friendly. The cave was spotless and was well equiped although as we were only there for one night we didn't do any cooking. The shower was hot and powerful. The beds were clean and very comfortable. I would not hesitate this place and I would definitely stay there again.
Unique experience to live like 21st century cave people, with 21st century comforts.
Casa Cueva Guadix allows you to stay in a an actual cave without giving up any comforts: you get comfortable beds, a tidy bathroom, an nicely equipped kitchen, a living room, a dining room, and 2 bedrooms. Contrary to what you may expect, there is as much fresh air and sunlight as you'd get in any city hotel.
Our host Maryse was very helpful and welcomed us with delicious cake from the local bakery. Much appreciated!
This is a motorway stop hotel - clean, spacious room but a little tired with regard to the furniture. Great shower with lots of hot water. Easy parking. The cafeteria was a nice surprise as the included evening meal was very good. Nice decor in communal areas. The staff were all very pleasant, polite and helpful. The cave dwelling area was very interesting and just a short drive from the hotel into the town - really worth the visit.
Very unique hotel built into a cave, a style of habitation that Guadix is famous for. Host was extremely friendly upon check-in. Hotel was located with a 20 minute walk of the cathedral, Moorish castle and main plaza in town. The apartment we stayed in had 3 separate bedrooms with 6 beds and a interesting design with many curved surfaces. Value was excellent and our stay was a true experience!
The cave was absolutely wonderful. Elegantly decorated, very clean and peaceful. From the terrace one could see all of Guadix and there were multiple restaurants at walking distance. Our host was very helpful with everything, from recommendations on where to go for dinner to where to buy tickets for the Alhambra... We felt at home and will definitely return!
Set in the heart of a beautiful city, good research helped us to find the parking and hotel entrance. We were given a pleasant welcome. We had booked on a halfboard basis, and although the set menu in El Buho restaurant was limited, the food was of a high quality, and we both agreed that the garlic soup was probably one of the best we had ever eaten.
Our stay was very lovely! We came for a bike race and staying right in the center of town was perfect. everything was even better than pictured, with lots of space. the host very communicative and checked in to make sure that we had everything we needed. would definitely come back if I find myself in Guadix again.
This is a beautiful, historic, small hotel. It was so close to everything yet it offered a quiet and peaceful retreat from the hubbub of the city. Imagine a 500 year old home redone with all of the modern conveniences.
The covered rooftop patio was amazing. I’ve stayed many places and this is one of the best!
Lovely cave houses in a great location. The house looked pretty and traditional and had space for parking nearby. It was decorated in traditional style, was clean and had all I needed for my overnight stay. The view over Guadix from just outside the house was beautiful, especially at sunset.
It was great to have the opportunity to stay in a traditional and explore this area of Guadix, which is beautiful. The cave was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Maria met us at the shop and was friendly and showed us round. Parking was easy.
The hotel and rooms were excellent. Great location but high up, must be able to handle steps.
Excellent service, only negstive for me but not my husband was strong air freshener smell in the restaurant, put me off eating. We will definitely return.
The apartment is in a perfect location to visit Guadix. It is a beautiful place, clean and refurbished with everything you need. Javier is a wonderful host and was always available for us. Definitely recommend this special historical apartment!
Excellent location just a minute of the A92M, the cave was wonderfully cool considering the outdoor temperature was 40C.
Hosts very nice and welcoming. Cave was spotlessly clean. Guadix is a fascinating city and well worth exploring.
very spectacular natural valley with caves as hotel room. who loves nature will enjoy it. the Guy from The Hotel, Ramon was a charming man who helped us to feel comfortable. I would come back!
Great location, beautiful property with lots of artwork, helpful host, comfortable bed , large bathroom with a BATHTUB! I could have spent my whole time in Guadix staying in the pension!
