What an amazing hotel with a world class restaurant experience. We were the only guests at the hotel during mid week in March. It is right on the river with rapids in front and great walking trails all along. It is registered as a historic site by the Galician province and recreates what a Galician village estate would have been like. We had an amazing dinner served by the chef. With a romantic fireplace in the common area and very comfortable beds and rooms.

Our family of four had an extraordinary three-night stay at Casa Toirán. Our studio and one-bedroom apartments, in this newly renovated, farm-house hotel, were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. From our terrace, we overlooked a picturesque valley that offered us views of spectacular sunsets. And while our location was tranquil and pastoral, we were only short drives from Sarría and Lugo.
But most of all, it was our hosts, Pilar and her daughter Elena, who made our stay at Casa Toirán so special. After learning that we had come to Casa Toirán hoping to find our family’s genealogical roots in a nearby Galician village, and realizing that we had limited information to go on and even more limited Spanish language skills, Pilar and Elena offered to help us with our search. They located and accompanied us to the appropriate Records Office to find our family’s civil documents. They identified and brought us to our family’s church and convinced the custodian to open if for us. And, miraculously, through multiple phone calls to friends of friends, they introduced us to 89-year-old Manual who actually remembered our ancestors and knew where their house had once stood.
Pilar and Elena were exceptional women, teaching us all about Spanish generosity, hospitality, and kindness. They gave us a link to our family’s heritage, a gift we will always treasure, and we will never forget them.

We Absolutely loved our stay here.
We are a couple and came for 2 weeks, for some medical
procedures and adventuring in the area.
The apt is gorgeous. The building is a renovated barn. The design is a beautiful mix of traditional and modern. Everything is new and top quality, from the appliances to the bed sheets.
The floors are heated, and mattresses and pillows are high quality memory foam.
.You have everything you need in the kitchen to cook and prepare meals.
Great water pressure. The conduction stove is great
The three buildings are all within a large walled garden, with outdoor seating areas.
It’s very safe and quiet.
The hosts, Lola and Jesus, are masters of care, attention and helpfulness. We always felt comfortable to ask for anything we needed. Their house is 50 metres away and they always answer their whatsup within minutes
They both grew up in Lugo and are knowledgeable about the area and its history. It’s small city and they know everything and everyone.
The apt is in a semi-rural setting, 7 min drive from Lugo. It is very quiet with views of the fields and mountains from all the windows.
We drove into town regularly and also walked in o few times, along the riverside path (1h15 walk at a leisurely pace).
All around, it’s the perfect setting for us. We will be back again in a few months.
