Easily accessible from the A7 Motorway, Hostal Madruga is located in the city of Elche. It offers a 24-hour reception and air-conditioned rooms with a TV and private bathroom.
Elche's old city enter is beautiful and clean. With it's huge Palmeral, it has much more green spaces than most. The town is in some ways an undiscovered gem among tourists; it feels very "local" (though a handful of its many restaurants also operate in nearby Alicante), and has well-preserved buildings from centuries ago.. The historic center is largely pedestrianized, and it's lined with a great variety of restaurants and cafes. We'd day-tripped there previously, but recommend staying for a couple of nights, if possible. It's old center truly comes to life in the evening.

Although we reviewed Elche before travelling, we were surprised at the rather modern looking buildings around us. The Old Town had several wonderful buildings and the Palm Groves were stunning..especially when viewed from the little, white tourist train. The Tourist Office ladies were very helpful, Taxis are very cheap (compared with the UK)
Last year we went further south (Malaga and Marbella) and we enjoyed the white buildings, iron balconies and many flowers. I think we would visit the southern areas in preference to the rather utiliterian buildings in the area around the apartment in Elche. Good bus/train links but quite a hike to get to the terminus. We visited Murcia by train (very cheap) again the station was nearly a mile away from the Cathedral etc...and Santa Pola. (we had a taxi).and were expecting a little fishing village,,,not so..another built up,expanded town with modern marina and smart yachts! Buses and trains do not seem to run on time..so be early!
We found several good restaurants..as mentioned the Flamingo (on Plaza de Espagna) for brunch and the Pizza parlour (near the river)...if you like eating early, you may be disappointed as most places seem to start about 8pm.
Several excellent supermarkets near Javiers apartment and super kitchen if you decide to eat in.

Restaurants and cafes all very keenly priced but food quality reflected those prices. Buses, taxis and entrance to museums very cheap. Taxi from airport was much cheaper than posted elsewhere on the internet.
The palm groves are unique and fascinating.

Lovely clean little town, only 20 mins by car from Alicante airport, a few attractions, beautiful palm trees everywhere, tons of dining options, some offer menus in English, some don’t.
Shops, banks and most of the pharmacies are closed down during siesta, good few cafes remain open.
People are friendly, majority of the people who choose Elche for holidays are Spanish.
We visited at the beginning of sept, very comfortable temperature - fresh in the morning, some heat in the afternoon around 27,29, nice cool breeze in the evening and no mosquitoes!

Elche is an amazingly vibrant but surprisingly undervalued city - plenty of culture, history and nature. Full of life, street cafés, bars, etc and packed with interesting architecture, palm grove parks that blow you away and a maze-like old quarter waiting to be explored. Ah! and holder of 3 UN World Patrimony Awards to boot. How many places can beat that?
A recently renovated stylish apartment that puts you in the heart of Elche. It had all the facilities we expected and needed and the owners are very responsive and a really friendly couple. The airco works really well and cools the entire apartment. Internet is the fastest I’ve ever experienced in an apartment rental. Tv, kitchen appliances, etc. all were new and worked well. The showers were comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the apartment for anyone wanting to stay in or near Elche.
The property is nice. The kitchen only has basic equipment. No spoon to stir eggs in a pan. No spatula to lift eggs or something else in a pan. No pincer to lift meat from a pan. The pool area is well equipped with sun loungers.
Corkscrew to open wine very basic and hard to use. One with a leaver action would be better. Journey to pick up keys is 15 minutes from the location at a hotel reception. Use Google to get you there.
The hotel grounds are beautiful. our room was large and comfortable.
Parking is easy, and if you want to explore, getting out of the city quick and easy
Elche is a lovely town and the town centre only a few minutes walk from the hotel
nic pool, nice bar and nice restaurant
Had a great nights sleep. Dinner in restaurant was very good, as was breakfast. Drinks at bar were very reasonably priced.
Did not feel that we were being ripped off like some hotels that we have stayed in. Had early morning flight and on 10 minutes from Alicante airport.
Great communication with the host,
Excellent location, nice items included as a welcome to the guests,
Kid-friendly property(books etc were included)
Easy check-in and check-out..
If we aver return to Elche we would hope to stay there again 🙂🍀
The size of the bed was great an the full sized bath was needed after investigating the streets of Elche. Car parking was fine at hotel although is charged for. Very fast WiFi was ideal for streaming.
The best hotel I've been. It makes you feel like you are in Mexico. Amazing place, vibes, staff and everything. If I ever visit Elche again I will stay to this hotel again for sure!
This appartment was the best option we could get for a week in Elche. It has everything needed, was very clean and confortable. Location was right in the center of the city.
It was a cheap hotel
WiFi was good
Shower was powerful
Bed was comfortable but pillows are actually just blocks of foam with an open-ended pillowcase, not at all comfortable
This is our second visit... Such a perfect location close to everything.. very modern clean hotel.. the staff are very friendly and welcoming.. great break.. loved it
Everything was at expected standards from a business hotel.
We went with our dog and near the hotel there is a green area were we could walk her. This was a plus.
The hotel getting better since last year, they do renovate the hotel..for outside and in side the room..
Location in center and walk distance to find food.
Good location looking across street to the wonderful main city park, filled with Elche's famous palms. Super-nice host. Easy walk to the old city center.
