Cartagena is a beautiful city with stunning architecture, a lovely waterfront, charming squares surrounded by restaurants, and wonderful Roman ruins to see. We would definitely return for a longer stay, as we were only there one night.

Cartagena is a beautiful, small city- not crowded like the other cities we visited. Beautiful architecture along with Roman ruins, especially the amphitheater. Didn’t get to fully explore it, because I was sick one day. Worth a repeat visit.

If you are interested in history there is lots to see in this area, The Roman Ampitheatre, The Underwater Archaeology museum, Drive out from Cartegena on the minor roads in to the hills to discover lots of industrial archaeology. Take a boat trip round the harbour. Discover Aledo a hilltop town. Eating out can be cheap if you eat the menu de dia or a feast if you order off the main menus.

I spent 16 nights in Cartagena because I ran out of money during my backpacking trip in Europe and this was one of the cheapest places to stay in Spain.
Cartagena is a naval port town dotted with ancient ruins, medieval batteries, and beautiful mediterranean foliage. You can spend your time relaxing at la playa, hiking in the national park, having beers at hole-in-the-wall bars, and people-watching with your tostada de tomate in the late morning. The people are friendly and the street cats are adorable. It’s very walkable but there is an extensive bus service as well. It’s maybe not the most amazing coastal spot in Spain but if you’re broke, Cartagena is a lovely town to spend your time in.
Favourite hike: Mt Roldán
Favourite breakfast/coffee spot: Cafés Céldran
Favourite activities: the tourist boat (only 6€!), the Roman Theatre, and the Municipal Archaeological Museum

Cartagena is a lovely city.
Cartagena is a lovely city. Loads of things to see, museums, Roman ruins and more modern sights like the Civil War air raid shelter near to the castle.
The centre of the city is lovely with lots of places to eat and drink at not very expensive prices. The tapas choice is brilliant and offered by every restaurant. It's easy to walk around the town and you don't need a car. The open top Tourist bus is a good way to see the city, so well worth the hour round trip.
We'd definitely make another visit.
searched for a last minute hotel on a road trip and looked at the reviews for this hotel…. sounded fab so booked it and we were NOT disappointed! brilliant value for money. located in a side street but few steps de
Main Street with bars and attractions
staff all extremely helpful and
polite and free tea and coffee 24hrs which was fab.
breakfast was continental and optional but cheap.
shower gel/ shampoo and hairdryer also included….. great little find.
would definitely recommend for a short city break !!
The apartment is directly across from the Alcazar and a short walk to the main attractions in Cartagena. The host met us on arrival and assisted with parking in the garage that is immediately below the apartment. The apartment was spacious and it was nice to have both a full and a half bath for our group of 5. There was a continental breakfast included which was nice. It was a comfortable stay and great value.
Possibly the best situated hotel in Cartagena, a brisk 10-minute walk from the train station (without luggage, otherwise take a taxi) and immediately adjacent to the maritime museum and the harbor. We have sampled tapas throughout Spain and the hotel bar had the most interesting selection so far, very reasonably priced. Many good restaurants close by. Easy to walk to all the major sites.
A fantastically relaxing stay in this beautiful, peaceful property. Viv and Dan were very welcoming and friendly. The pool and gardens are stunning and well maintained. The breakfast and dinners were delicious and great value. The overall bohemian vibe made it very easy to unwind at this place. Its also only a short driving distance from some nice beaches and towns.
We went for a festival in Cartagena and the hotel was walking distance from the festival ground. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, room was pretty big with comfy beds (as you need after standing all day and moving between stages). There were a couple of nice bars/ restaurants next door, a real relief from the heat.
We loved the hotel and everything was amazing. We get the best room and had a amazing terace with amazing view. He staff herr are just amazing people that made for us the best day from our holliday. Is by far the most beautiful and clean hotel in Cartagina❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank u from all out herats for all u did for us.
Very good hotel in great location i.e. in walking distance to the old city center. Very convenient paid parking right in front of the hotel. Super nice, multilingual reception staff. Clean. Good Wifi. Great shower. Good breakfast. Good restaurant. Reasonable prices. I'll definitely stay here again.
Wonderful newly remodeled apartment, in the heart of Old Cartagena, with amazing facilities, great attention to detail, 2 bathrooms with wonderful showers, fully equipped kitchen, high ceilings, and incredibly quiet. Truly a gem!
A modern, clean airy and bright apartment in a great location by the train station and only a short walk down to the port. Really helpful staff too- will be recommending to friends and family for future visits to Cartagena
The beds were comfortable, there was Air conditioning throughout the hotel and that was huge for the summer! Breakfast was good, great variety and they stayed on top of restocking and keeping it full for guests.
The mobile home was well equipped and clean. Parking next to the house. The holiday village had a pleasant, calm atmosphere. We felt comfortable. The beach was bordered by rocks, private. Nice simple life!
Excellent location for the central area of Cartagena with plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and interesting sites within walking distance of the hotel. Good 'menu del dia' in restaurant.
Nice little apartment, clean.
The host was great. He helped with my bags and showed me were the bus was and got me checked into my new place. He is the best thing about the place.
Location was good away from the heart of the historic area but only 10 mins walk
Private car park right next to the hotel
Reasonable selection for breakfast
