Probably a city which doesn't get many tourists, but certainly deserves more. To be honest, until planning our interrail trip, I had never heard of the place, but it was necessary to stay there to get across the border next day.
Plaza Alta, high up in the town as the name would perhaps suggest, was jumping, and everyone was eating outside.

Badajoz seems to me to be a very under appreciated city very much in the shadow of its Extremaduran neighbours Merida and Caceres, yet it is as steeped in history as both of these two more popular tourist destinations. Culturally it has so much to offer: two excellent art galleries, Museo de Bellas Artes and MEIAC which have very contrasting collections of mainly local art; The Moorish Alcazaba, with sweeping views of the city from its imposing, extensive walls and within these walls the Archaeological Museum and gardens; Nightlife in the old town is particularly lively with excellent tapas; There are numerous cultural events throughout the year including a yearly festival of Flamenco and Fado plus a Jazz Festival.
Behind the slightly run down facade the city presents lies a wealth of experiences.

Many people say Badjoz is modern and ugly with not much to see. There are lots of historical sites like the town walls, gates and castles plus the many gardens situated in parks. The Alta Square was great with three good cafe/restaurants. If you have a hire car visit nearby Elvas in Portugal.

Whilst we appreciated the room was cheap the quality of the room was poor. It weas very dated, small, smelled of smoke, the furniture had cigarette burn marks on all of it.
The bathroom ok but again tired and in need of redecoration.
The staff weren't very helpful with regards to what to do, where to eat etc
It had parking on site which was useful.

Robbed at the hotel, during breakfast, I returned to Portugal with no money, no documents and no credit cards. The Hotel Director refused to help me even though I was left without any means of survival. I returned to Portugal with little gas, no money, no credit cards and no documents.

Badajoz is a beatiful city, very quiet and very well communicated. You can get by bus to almost anywhere in city. I had to go there for a short admin procedure and had to stay the night. People are very helpful and willing to help visitors. Great place!
The underground parking was great (€12.50 per day with good sized bays). Bed was very comfortable - wide and medium to firm mattress. shower was powerful and the breakfast was really good (plentiful buffet and tables well spaced). Didn't eat dinner here as the restaurant/bar was closed due to covid but room service was offered (we went into town instead). Hotel was easy to get to and well sited to walk around Badajoz. Bonus of a nice little park out the front of the hotel gave us a good outlook from our room window.
The house was great: ample space, decorated in good taste, had everything we needed, comfortable furniture and a beautiful terrace on the roof with incredible views, day and night.
The heated floors were wonderful.
Great location, close to the city center but in a quiet area.
The owners were very nice, making sure we had a pleasant stay.
Room was fine but we booked as it was advertised as dog friendly it was if you just wanted to lock your dog in the room as it was not allowed anywhere else in the hotel even though my dog is a service dog they just didn’t want to know. There should be a dedicated area in the hotel where you can sit with well behaved dogs .
Perfect service, room was so big I got lost.
Excellent value and breakfast
Had a workout 630am excellent training room (I own my own personal training studio in Switzerland) and this equipment is extremely good.
Great job on this hotel.
Good service, great rooms, workout area, breakfast for a king
You can't find the hotel using Waze bc it's on a pedestrian street, use Google maps. The parking garage is on the same street and private. You can drive on the pedestrian street to access the garage. Well worth 10€! Everything was great. I even had a mini-fridge and full size bathtub.
i like how this hotel despite the age is good at maintining the level of comfort and quality. clean, quiet, and with all the facilities you need for a nice stay. For me the big balcony with a view is the best of its features, great for having a coffee outside looking at the river!
Standard simple room in the centre of Badajoz.
The room was clean and spacious and was equipped with AC.
The hotel has everything you may need: hair dryer, iron... Available in reception.
In the areas there are many shops and bars, and the historic area is at foot distance.
modern well-run hotel with helpful staff. The hotel reach the expected standards of cleanliness. The breakfast was adequate.
In terms of access to the town centre the hotel was well located but road closures made it nearly impossible to find.
Friendly staff, large clean room, large clean bathroom with shower and bath. Good heating system for cold winter stay. Easy free parking behind the hotel, short walk over bridge to old city centre.
The hotel room was big, well appointed with comfortable pillows and a bath tub. The pool was great. The front desk employees were kind. It was directly across from the bus station.
Very comfortable and nice
At the heart of Badajoz but at the same time with easy access to everything
It was a stay for a New Year’s Eve and the dinner was delicious
This is a comfortable hotel on a relatively quiet street (ask for a room facing the small park in front), half an hour walk from the historic centre and the university
I love the hotel. The room was nice and clean and the hotel was in the middle of the city of badajoz near to every attraction and the stuff was very nice and helpful
It was all that you would expect a 4* hotel to be . thought there were very small signs of wear and tear. The reception and dining room staff were very friendly.
