FAQs about hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

Year-Round Sun and Fun

Set against the backdrop of desert and mountains, Sharm el Sheikh is a year-round Red Sea diving and beach resort. Although based on an existing village, it is very much a purpose-built holiday town, with lots of international brands of hotel, restaurant and bar lining its sandy shores.

The oldest part surrounds the Old Market, a heady mix of shisha and spices, roughly in the middle of the Naama Bay and Um el Sid suburbs. The other Sharm districts of Shark’s Bay and Nabq Bay are along the coast by Sharm el Sheikh Airport.

The Red Sea offers some of the world’s best dive spots with rich underwater life on the deep reefs of the amazing Ras Mohammed National Park. Other watersports include windsurfing, kayaking or banana boating, and the Cleopark waterpark has flumes, pools and rapids.

Other things to do include shopping at Il Mercato mall and the many souvenir stalls, karting at Ghibli Raceway, or watching a show at the Arabian-styled Alf Leila Wa Leila. Outside town you can go horse or camel riding in the desert, and visit a Bedouin village or St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai peninsula hills.

The Sharm el Sheikh accommodation on Booking.com covers everything from 5-star holiday resorts to all-inclusive hotels with pools, and cheap apartments.

It was not the first time I chose this hotel, and I felt at home from the very first moment again - and would always go back to the Il Mercato any time possible. I specially like the architecture (Jugendstil), the spaciousness, the interior design with beautiful pictures of flowers/plants, the old lamps, the floors in marble, the high ceilings, the courtyard of the restaurant with real palm trees, etc. This hotel is just beautiful and well kept! It is perfectly located, with Hadaba and Old Market very near and the possibility to walk around any time, do some shopping etc. You have a choice of beaches and can even walk down to Il Terrazzina or other beaches as well.

My visit to Sharm El-Sheikh was marred by experiences that made me, as a woman, feel uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe. There’s a noticeable push to exploit tourists, which goes beyond simple haggling to situations that feel more like scams. My unease peaked during a taxi ride when the driver made inappropriate advances, attempting to touch my legs, which was both alarming and a clear violation of personal boundaries. Despite Sharm El-Sheikh’s beautiful surroundings, such incidents can overshadow the joys of exploring this destination. For female travelers, it’s essential to stay vigilant and prioritize safety.

Lovely place but only accessible beaches were owned by hotels and limited to their guests. Can get pestered by touts outside hotel and taxis will try and rip you off. Nice places to eat outside hotel are Mon Rev just across the road from Amwaj and German Bakery 5 minute walk. Drinkies has alcohol at good prices. El Ezabee pharmacy has good range and at Egyptian prices. Sinai clinic very good for medical treatment and is just across the road from Amwaj.

I recently encountered some concerning situations during my travels, and I want to share my experiences to help you stay vigilant. Here are some important points to keep in mind: Airport Scammers: At the airport, be cautious of individuals offering to assist with paperwork related to immigration. These scammers may approach you, promising to expedite the process by stamping the back side of your immigration paper. They’ll ask for a fee (around $20) for their services. Do not fall for this! You do not need their help. Stick to the official procedures. Visa on Arrival: When arriving in a foreign country, check if they offer a visa on arrival. Most airports provide this service, and it’s straightforward. No additional assistance is required. Avoid unnecessary payments to strangers. Immigration Check: Upon reaching immigration, be aware that the police may scrutinize your documents. Scammers and immigration officers might have connections. At somepoint, the officer make you to tip them. They even, asked about my wallet, asked to show it. It's hard to explain the situation. Language Confusion: Some immigration officers intentionally mix local language with English to confuse travelers. The intension is to get some tips from international travellers. Stay alert and take your time to understand. If something seems off, politely ask for clarification. Taxi Fare Negotiation: In the city, taxis can be expensive. A fair rate for a taxi ride should not exceed 400 Egyptian pounds. Be cautious of drivers who try to overcharge you. Additionally, some taxi drivers may offer to exchange dollars for Egyptian pounds varying from 45 to 60. Tourist Traps: Finally, be aware of tourist traps. Research common scams in the area you’re visiting. Stay informed and protect yourself from unnecessary expenses or unsafe situations.

This is Egyptian standard 5 star hotel. This is a Family hotel, with a lot to do,and as it have several restaurants and bar,a lot to choose also on that site. Location is a bit out of the main city, but as there are cheap taxis everywhere, that is no problem. The best person of the hotel was Luca, who works with booking.com, his way of handling any issues was really professional. As I have travelled in 90 countries, and hundreds of hotels, his way of dealing with customers is exceptional. The rooms were kept really clean ,everyday.

It’s a large property with lots of actives for adults and children. Good place to visit with family and friends. We were a large group (49 people) and there was something for everyone to keep busy. Given that our group was so large, the staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We also took the all inclusive package and Mr. Amr Mansey helped with all the online bookings and made special arrangements for us. Everything was quite seamless and I would definitely recommend the resorts to others who are looking to visit.

Mohamed Elgomasy, the receptionist was so helpful despite we had a little issue due to booking.com. Mohamed managed it so well for us that he arranged us the best apartment with a pool view with all the amenities due to small inconvenience. Mohamed was so polite and courteous and he made sure he explained the issue to his reservation very well so thanks to him. Hotel was very good all around due to private beach and access to Aqua park and food was amazing with all inclusive package.

This was the best hotel we stayed at on our trip to Egypt. Very positive experience here. My partner wanted to stay another week. Everything about this place is 5 stars. The gym was beautiful and half outdoors. The staff were kind and charismatic. The spa treated us like royalty. All the restaurants and food were scrumptious. The hotel itself is very aesthetic and attracts a lot of beautiful people to take a lot of incredible photos. No complaints at all during our entire stay.

Value for money, breakfast is delicious with many options, room wasn't that clean but the staff made sure i get my requested room. What annoyed me a bit is that rooms have no kettle, so bring your kettle if you like hot drinks every now and then. Pool wasn't that clean either. Honestly you get what you pay for, it's not a luxurious hotel or anything, but one of the biggest factors is the hotel location, it's a 5 min walk from Naama bay.

This place is simple and cheap but got everything you need—clean beds, bathrooms, a friendly host, WiFi, breakfast, peace, and security. If you don’t want to pay big money for overpriced and overcrowded big hotels where everything is rushed and the service is impersonal, I’d recommend you booking with this tiny hotel (motel). It was my 3rd visit there, and everything was as expected—5 stars from me.

Location was excellent at preferred rooms location and the staff were super attentive and friendly. The wellness Sellers’s are too pushy though as they were in the previous hotel we had stayed in !! We did not go for all inclusive as we wanted to try the restaurants in the town which for us worked really well . Beach bar was really goood as well and the reef just off the beach was great.
