Unlike Cairo, Aswan is much slower paced and people are much nicer. The city has several historical sites, temples, and islands. The views and food are amazing. I’m skipping Cairo on my next trip to Egypt and coming straight to Aswan and Luxor.

A very beatiful place to relax and enjoy the sun during winter.
We felt very safe and happy.
The local market is great it has unique and authentic goods.
The philae Temple is great it has spots to take photos and great views.
We enjoyed the Botonical Garden very much as it has plants from all over the world.
The feluca ride is one of the best things we enjoyed but first you have to agree on the price.

Tombs of the Nobles were really neat if you can make it over to the other bank. Watch out for the camel guys there though. We got roped into $50 camel rides.
Aswan was probably our least favorite stop in Egypt. Harassment by salespeople was higher here than at the Great Pyramids, and much higher than Luxor! We couldn't walk anywhere at anytime of the day without a salesperson walking with us for several blocks. And as soon as they were done, someone else would take over. Its too bad, I think the corniche could be a really pretty walk!

Aswan is pleasant pretty city on upper Nile within easy day excursion to Abu Simbel. Don't ride camel at Giza, ride one at Aswan out into the desert. Ride felucca boat around Elephantine Island. Eat at King Jamaica restaurant. Stop to see unfinished obelisk

Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
I didn’t realize that the hotel was undergoing a little construction. It looked like they were upgrading their ramp. This meant we had to carry our bags up the stairs to the lobby.
The property is beautiful and has a terrific view of the town and we could see the Nile from our room. The restaurant was very good- we had dinner there.
BTW the construction noise never bothered us. We couldn’t hear it at all.

If you are doing the Initiatic path, Elephantine Island is so perfect. We stayed at Mango Tree (feel like exotic move stars) and Nubian Dreams (also a restaurant but we scored their top floor room and that is super fun) We also stayed at Nubian Palace, oh my gosh. Take a little private ferry and go to that place. Its so memorable. Philae temple was set up from our host at Nubian Palace (which we usually never do but she is a badass and handles it so you don't have to negotiate to and from the ferry marina) Stay on the west bank. Never the east. Its so loud and full of hustle. The west bank is like real Egypt. Lovely. Easy to start the temple path to Abu Simbel by hopping on a local large bus. Fun, cheap, easy. (Its a little more coming back but its all very cheap so be nice and accept the system) From here you can take a train, bus or private taxi to Kom Ombo and Edfu as you make your way to Luxor. (ALSO STAY ON THE WEST BANK in luxor) What a lovely quiet and profoundly spiritual adventure.
Everything! The location, the lovely exterior and interior design with so much attention to detail, the crazily welcoming and supportive staff was just out of this world - also compared to all the other places we stayed at in Egypt, including five star hotels. We especially loved the many peaceful outdoor gathering places to relax, chill out, read, talk or have a tea :). Everything was super clean, and the breakfast with a view was a selection of the finest local food. Hatem in particular made a huge effort to make us feel like at home.
Such a beautiful, relaxed place on the Nile, overlooking Aswan, staff are so friendly and will go out of their way to help you. They picked us up in Aswan on their boat and took us back to the Island which is stunning. We had a Nile view balcony and was great just to sit and watch the boats. Breakfast was included and was a great Egyptian breakfast, we also ate dinner over looking the Nile, which was so reasonable and all freshly prepared They can also organise trips for you
We would stay here again.
Good value for money! The owner was welcoming and accommodating. He was also one of few people we encountered in Egypt who didn't try to hustle or hassle us, so thank you. The breakfast was delicious! We felt safe here. Being in the Nubian village was much nicer than staying in Aswan city. The owner helped us organise a boat to King Jamaica restaurant as well as deal with our rubbish driver we unfortunately booked online. (btw, I advise you booked drivers through hotels and regret that we didn't)
EVERYTHING was simply perfect! The food was the BEST we had in Egypt. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, clean, and eco friendly which we love! The service and hospitality far surpasses any 5 star hotel. Tamir proactively arranged our airport transfer, a romantic sunset dinner along the Nile, and even accommodated an extended stay for us all before we even left the USA. We would have stayed longer if our trip allowed, we loved Ayujidda so much. This must not be missed!
Very lovely people, helpful manager that kept checking on us. We arranged everything from the hotel manager Othman himself, and it was done at great prices. The rooms were very clean and the view is fantastic. Will sure come back for an extended trip again in the future. There is so much to do Aswan.
On also they picked us up from the hotel to the mainland for the Abu Simbil tour which usually starts at 4 am, there are no public boats at 4 am in the morning.
We are Elisenda and Oscar and we would like to highlight the excellent stay at the Basma hotel. The views from the rooms and the pool area are very nice. Special mention to the attention received by the staff, from Regam, the relationship manager, the receptionist and even the person who helped us with our bags upon our arrival on the afternoon of April 19th (extremely dedicated and efficient). Without a doubt if we return to Aswan we will return
Very wonderful hotel on an island with boat service 24 hours a day to and from Aswan.
The hotel have a lot of nice spots around the island with nice terraces, pools and chill out spots were you can order drinks and food from the bar.
You can have nice breakfast and dinner in the restaurant they offer open buffet with a lot of different food both international and egyptian.
We loved the staff at the reception, bar and restaurant.
The hotel has an excellent location on the shores of the Nile River in Aswan. It has a beautiful swimming pool and a nice restaurant and shisha bar—well-trained, and kindly efficient staff.
I had a problem with my booking dates, but the manager was willing to find a solution and accommodate my request to change the dates. We spent 3 memorable days in the hotel. I highly recommend the Obelisk Hotel for friends.
The houseboat is nestled in a beautiful place on the quieter side of Elephantine island. It is very well maintained and has all the modern amenities one expects to find in a hotel. The houseboat staff are all Aswan locals and very polite and well mannered. Adding to these, the excellent views from the houseboat rooms and upper decks help to make the stay an amazing experience.
We had a very nice and comfortable stay at the Aswan Nile Palace. The rooms are big, clean, with amazing view! What made this place extra nice was the help of Hares for getting around, he was super friendly and helpful, definitely recommend book things through the hotel! Egypt has a lot to offer, but it can be difficult to do it by yourself.
The view is breathtaking! Most hotels are located in Aswan’s main avenue and you won’t get a chance to see how beautiful the city’s scenery really is. Also, the staff Kamel and Hares were 5 starts. They helped us with everything, we even got a boat trip with Hares. Don’t miss the chance to stay at this hotel!
Mahmoud made our stay a delight! he is extremely knowledgeable and connected us with many sites and recommendations. the hotel on Elephantine Island was comfortable and very clean. access to Aswan sight excellent. the breakfasts are wonderful and enormous. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place.
Hotel was nice and clean. The best thing is the view to the Nilo, so the location. The hotel is rather old style and it’s not perfect but is the best you can get in Aswan considering Egyptian standards… believe me. Ahhh…. Dinner and breakfast are amazing!
The only good things about this hotel is the staff who do their absolute best given the circumstances. They are all so kind, friendly, and accommodating. I also really enjoyed the food! They serve Egyptian food which is really cool and it’s delicious!
The place was amazing, great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and we were assisted to do things in Aswan. The food was the best, very authentic. And the owner of the hotel told us many things about Nubian history and offered traditional coffee.
The location was so good at the west banks of Aswan and in the Nubian Village. The people were so good there so the manager in hotel. He was so frinedly and served us tasty dinner and overall the stay was memorable experience.
