Stayed here as stopover before and after an 8-day Havilla cruise, Trondheim to Kirkenes and back. Which was excellent by the way and highly recommended.
So we spent one day touring the city and seeing some sites.
Walked a circuit to the Fortress, Bakklandet, Old Bridge around the river front into the Nidaros Cathedral and then down to the harbour via the town square. Enroute, tea & cake, lite lunch followed by an fantastic Beers & Pizza at Grano next to hotel. 5+ miles.

The booking.com recommendation with sleep 4 quadruple room 2...
The booking.com recommendation with sleep 4 quadruple room 2 adults and two children. (rules: check in age must be 18 years or old) But come in on the day of booking, the hotel staffs states the hotels rules is that children age of two years or older considers adult) so they charge extra person NOK 50 per child since the booking did not declare the child as adults. The hotels has not thing to do with the booking since it stated only two adult. I need to deal with the booking.com. stay away!!!

We stayed in Trondheim for 1 day to recover from 2-days ride. Very nice and quite city. There are a couple of cool places if you like history: the Nidaross cathedral and the space around. We visited Rockheim and it is kinda cool. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the central area. The city has its own vibe. However, it’s hard to imagine what to do there for 2+ days besides the trips outside.

Trondheim is a charming little city in the north of Norway...
Trondheim is a charming little city in the north of Norway with a bustling, albeit tiny city center, loads of cute little cafés, a magnificent coastline and so much more! The only thing is: You have to get there when the weather is good, which is less than likely. The city experiences a lot of rain and unpredictable weather, so being prepared for everything is in your best interest.
Other than that, some nice places to visit are: Tyholt tower, with a fairly priced restaurant at the top (by norwegian standards), Munkholmen, a tiny fort in the fjord, Nidarosdomen, the cathedral, the University on top of the hill and the areas close to Solsiden and Bakklandet, which are incredibly charming.
To get around walking is for sure the best option, although the bus system is highly efficient and reliable.
Also, for the best experience, schedule your visit between June and August.
The staff was great. We had to completely cancel and reschedule our train to Bergen at the last minute and Florence Echarri took the time to help us get it all arranged. We also had to get a new booking for a hotel in Oslo for one night due to the changes and she found us a lovely room at the Hotel Bristol. Just over the top customer service.
The breakfast buffet was excellent and the room was lovely. Bottom line is that the Britannia Hotel was the best hotel of the seven we stayed in during our trip to Norway.
The breakfast was very good, worth the extra expense. The hotel is in a very central location and rooms on higher floors had a good view of sentrum. The room was equipped with a flat screen TV and had the chromecast option 🙂. Near to many shops and restaurants at convenient walking distance, and central bus stops. The staff were also very compliant and kind
The location was fantastic, right behind the Cathedral and on the River. This is a Pilgrims hotel ie there are mainly dorms, it’s self check in (no traditional reception) and not a ‘normal’ hotel as such. We had a spacious, private room. Breakfast was fine. There is a tea & coffee station which was free and a comfortable, cozy lounge area.
Excellent location. A 25 minute walk to the Hurtigren/Havila ferry terminal. Close to a. Number of restaurants and cafes, and great walking pedestrian malls. Excellent buffet breakfast. Friendly professional front desk staff. Even though the hotel was very busy on a weekend, staff kept the buffet items filled and hot.
The hotel staff looked after us as if we were family. Our room was more spacious than we expected and was clean, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need in it! The hotel location was perfect to give access to all of Trondheim's best attractions. Looking back, we would have liked to have stayed longer!
The room was quiet and comfortable. We had a slightly larger space as we had a rollaway for a third person. There is paid parking under the hotel. The breakfast was amazing with everything you could possibly imagine. The view of the fjord with the ships coming and going was nice.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. awesome location! airport shuttle bus is around corner. the hotel is also very close to the center and old town bridge. the sauna on the top floor is also nice. we had a great stay. breakfast is awesome!
The hotel room was comfortable and warm. There was proper storage space for our belongings and clothes. The free Norwegian waffles that you could get in the lobby everyday were very much appreciated. Staff was friendly.
Easy to find, near public transportation. Plenty of parking. Friendly welcoming cat. Very clean bathrooms & bedrooms. Plenty of locker space. Very comfortable linens, mattresses & pillows.
A cosy hotel with spacious rooms. My room was towards a backyard, but even the backyard looked nice. Breakfast is excellent. Nice location with lots of restaurants nearby.
