Clean, large room, comfy beds. Nice hot shower with good pressure. Nice heating also. Big windows to let you enjoy the aurora (if you’re lucky enough). Excellent location in the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, some attractions are within walking distance and others are a short drive away.

Beautiful views of the sea, especially sunrise. Great mountain views. It was uncharacteristically cold and windy so no hiking but trails exist. Easy access to the national park with black beaches, lighthouses, lava tubes and volcano views. Hotel rooms are cosy but clean and comfortable - timber framed so not much noise insulation. We had a great stay for one night as a family of four with two sea view rooms - and were pleasantly surprised how good the restaurant food was considering how remote the hotel is. Dinner and breakfast both great. Also recommend the Frista Food Truck in nearby Arnarstapi for amazing fish and chips and quesadillas. Good recommendations from reception for spots to stop at on the drive back to Reykjavik, including seals on the rocks at Ytri Tunga. We also found a lovely little forest to walk through further on at Hofsstaðaskógur.

It's also walking distance to the "hotel" in Hellnar, and they have a very good restaurant. Hellnar was a perfect base for us to do some day trips around the peninsula.
