Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.
At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.
Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.
Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.
Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.

if you into temples and a few other sightseeing options, Taipei is a pretty interesting city. I only had a layover so did not have much time to do some exploring. Knowing some mandarin will help a lot!

I lost my pasalubong at the train station but was able to recover it two days later at the Lost and Found of the train station. I lost my organizer kit containing my car keys and IDs at Terminal 1 Taipei Airport immigration/ departure area. I hope I will be able to recover it still.
The food was great. Places were very much accessible through train. The people were very courteous. We visited towards the Chinese New Year and everything was so festive.
Amazed by how clean the city was. And we all so loved the Lucky Taiwan promo. My dad and I were gifted with cards containing 5000 NT which really came in handy.
Taichung was also beautiful and vibrant. Great night markets!
Might plan to visit Taiwan every year. Especially to get my organizer kit with my car keys back.
Thanks Taipei for the wonderful and memorable experience!

The metro system in Taipei is very good.
The metro system in Taipei is very good. Lots of connection all around the city. Most metro station and some 7 elevens have very clean public toilet for public use. Most main attraction are easily accessible through the Metro although a couple like the National Palace Museum would need to use public buses. You find places to get water/hot water etc in random locations in public places. Most people are very friendly and will try to help when you ask for guidance etc - but we do speak mandarin so that might help in our favours.
The only thing Iike in this hotel is the location, it is near Taipei 101 and Embassy of Netherlands which we had an appointment the next day.
Even the staff were helpful in providing an electric fan as an alternative solution due to malfunctioning aircondition, still I did not had a good sleep. They told us that we can transfer to another room but its too late at night and it’s hassle and troublesome.
The room is clean, the toilet, and water pressure from shower is fine.
If you have a car, a parking space is also available.
Very convenient location, you can reach all relevant MRT lines by foot pretty easily. The room is big enough and perfectly equipped. Great breakfast with a wide range of options, specifically lots of authentic local food options, which I found great. Furthermore there are free snacks and drinks available in the lobby 24/7, which is a nice feature that definitely stands out from other hotels.
The price is not cheap, but reasonable enough for the central Taipei location.
Location was a bit off the main road, park views are lovely and the vibe is surprisingly calm and relaxing considering how central it is! Great access to a MRT train station - easy to get to Taipei 101 and east/west through the city. Room was gorgeous, the enormous tub was an excellent surprise and we slept extremely well on the bed. Felt absolutely enormous after hotel rooms in Europe 😆 The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Yusense Hotel is right place to stay if you want to spend a few days away from overbusy Taipei downtown, this hotel is just in 15 min away from 101 by taxi and 25 min away from Shilin MRT by walking. Near by you can find an amazing parks, I strongly recommend to went both of them. During our long honeymoon holidays we've stayed there twice, everything was absolutely good, extremely friendly stuff helped to fix a small issues we faced.
Very close to the 雙蓮 MRT station, which connects to the 中山 underground shopping street and park. Also walking distance from the famous night market 寧夏夜市. There are two convenient stores on the ground floor of the building.
The location is close to the Taipei train station and nearby attractions.
Check-in and check-out are done on the self-help machine.
The price is reasonable. Recommended for budget-limited stay.
The hotel is conveniently located, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. My room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped. Despite being near the centre of Taipei, it offers a peaceful atmosphere. I appreciated the powerful shower and fast internet. Oh, the free snacks were yummy and the free bottled water was helpful. The staff were also very friendly. I couldn't think of anything that I didn't like about it.
Location is great, near Z2 exit of train station and 10mins walking distance from Taipei main station. Lot of food, shopping areas and massage centers around the hotel as well. Nice area to walk around before 7am before the working crowd arrive. Wifi is free and fast. Free access to washing machines and dryer are a great bonus and the machines are relatively new and clean, well maintain.
I really enjoyed the city view and the bathroom facilities were wonderful. The bathroom features a Japanese style bath and a lovely selection of toiletries. The buffet style breakfast provided a lot of options. Overall a very comfortable stay. Although this was above my intended budget, this place is well priced compared to other hotels in the area.
The hotel room is across Daan forest park with the window view is the best experience to have during our stay and its location is excellent at the heart of Taipei city, which connects to most of the places within 25 minutes of distance.
The room's cleanliness and facility are above our expectations. The staff is very courteous and helpful.
Good value for money. Staff are all very nice and accommodating. Hotel is just an 8 minute walk from the airport mrt station and a 5 minute walk from Beimen station. There are many food options around the area. A riverside park with bike rentals and well-maintained bike path is also a few minutes walk away. Bonus: Free coffee at the hotel lobby.
Marriott Courtyard Downtown Taipei is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Superb quality, value, comfort and the best cleanliness and upkeep I have seen thus far. Staff were polite and always willing to go the extra mile to help. The gym was superb and I visited it nearly everyday. I loved everything about this stay. Will 120% recommend!
This was a really relaxing hotel to stay in for a getaway trip to Yangmingshan 陽明山. The hotel is located right across the street from a bus that will take you directly to the main bus station at Yangmingshan 陽明山, so you can take another bus to the National Park. I also appreciated that breakfast was included.
We have stayed in this hotel for more than 40 years. Kind of a holiday home.
One thing though, when we checked out, they claimed booking.com did not charge my c/d and I had to pay before we left. We haven't checked our bank statement yet as we are still on the road. Please verify and advise.
I like everything just the issue with no parking and also because of Covid-19 the entrance is closed. I think the instructions of how to get into the hotel should be made clear. Especially as a foreigner, I cannot read any Chinese. English instructions will be appreciated.
Great location near Taipei 101 for a great price. It is a budget hotel so no lobby, no swimming pool and no complimentary breakfast. These were not important to us since we were sight seeing and only needed a clean and quiet place for the night. Near metro.
Great location, for you can walk to many of Taipei’s attractions. The bed and pillows were comfy. The showers have a perfect water pressure. Relatively calm.
Overall I would recommend this hotel if you’re on a budget, definitely a good option!
Hotel is located across from Daan park which you have to take a couple of hours to walk through. I was surprised at the variety of birds in the park. Other attractions are easily accessed by metro or Ubike.
The location is great. There's a car park right in front of the hotel, great for those who rent a car during their travel. Within short distance walk there are MRT stations. Xi Men is about 5-8 minutes walk!
The hotel was centrally located close to a metro. Lots of places to get food around the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly. The room is pretty nice for Taipei standards
