Unfortunately the weather wasn't our friend so we didn't see much of Poole. We did drive 15 mins to Durley Chine where we parked for walk into Bournemouth. We also took a trip to Hengisbury Head (25 min drive).

Poole is a vibrant busy Marina town.
Poole is a vibrant busy Marina town. The High Street has an interesting variety of shops (including the flagship Lush store). The streets are lean, and felt safe. Parking is well signposted but not cheap.
If you have time then make an advance booking for the Harbour, Sandbanks, and Islands Cruise. We’ve done it twice and the commentary is excellent. Entertaining and informative.
We strongly recommend the fish and chip shop by the Lifeboat Station. Huge legions of really fresh succulent fish, lovely crisp batter, and a generous portion of chips.
There is blue-badge disabled parking directly opposite the Poole Quay Hotel and near the High Street. The town is flat and easy to get around for anyone with limited mobility.
We loved Poole and are already planning our next trip in a month. We have no intention of paying £30/night extra to bring our two pampered house cats. For £90 extra for three nights we need to see we are getting something extra - not a standard cold room.

The Town itself has died with many shops either closed or have become Charity Shops. Far too many Flats being built and being overrun by 'Outsiders' (Not Tourists). We will not return but stay to the West of Poole in the Purbecks and beyond far more tranquil.

Poole itself is not particularly of interest and is quite small with an old town area and harbour, but is quite a good base to visit other places in the area either by boat trips, by train or by car. It is easily accessible by train from London Waterloo and once there it is also close to other coastal resorts such as Bournemouth and Weymouth.

Ideal for visiting Brownsea Island but it closes November to March. Check opening times! Easy access to Sandbanks with lovely long walk to Bournemouth. RNLI College Hotel is an experience in itself and cruise trip boats are within a short walk from it. Poole town is very ‘tired’ but a good base to travel around area.

I nice area, with plenty to do. If you plan to go out in the week check which restaurants are open and / or which pubs serve food.
As Poole is on the South Coast, please consider the Weather at the time of year you visit.
Location was superb, just a short walk from Poole Quay. Juliet Balcony overlooking Hamsworthy Bay and a working marina. Apartment was very clean, well appointed and "Home from Home" giving you comfort with personal space and far better than just a hotel room. For January the weather was very kind that we could have breakfast on the balcony watching the sea and the world go by. Probablly one of our most favourite breaks.
We enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay with our dog feeling very welcome. The breakfast was very well organised, lots of options to choose from and delicious and we were really set up for the day.. Great location and nice walk into Poole. Debs and Doug were very hospitable, gave us lots of ideas of places to visit and we will definitely return again.
We got a really warm welcome from the hosts and were made to feel at home immediately. The attention to detail in the accommodation was as good as I've seen in some top 5 star hotels. Very comfortable accommodation and perfect if you are going to spend a dew days in the Poole area. There is a private parking spot for your car.
Chezza is lovely. So helpful. Room had everything I needed. I didn't expect a hotel experience at the price so was very happy with the place. Lovely quiet area and central to both Poole and Bournemouth. It is not bed and breakfest, so dont expect one. The price reflects this, and I was happy with that. I would use it again
The room was attractive and comfortable and a better size than I expected from the website. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was ideally located for the reason for our visit - a function at the Guildhall - and also for exploring old Poole. We enjoyed our visit and would stay at the Antelope again
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Family room was just right for us as a family of 4. Hotel was minutes away from Poole ferry so really convenient. Had evening meal that was good value and came really quickly, bonus when you have hungry children!
Great location next to the beach on one side and views over Poole harbour on the other. Plenty of space in the guest areas on the grounf floor that are not found in more modern hotels. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
Location was superb - less than 10 min walk to Poole Quay. Accommodation was large enough for two people and had everything you could need - and the general area was exceptionally clean, well kept and felt safe.
The location is perfect. You go out the hotel straight onto Bournemouth‘s golden sands. The hotel has a lovely outside area. Pool, sun lounge and shower. The inside spa area is clean and enjoyable.
The location of this hotel is fantastic just where you wanted to be close to everything and near Bournemouth and Poole. Breakfast was lovely had a lot to choose from very fresh and well cooked.
Brilliant location to walk to wayside bars and restaurants and to Poole park.
Good size comfortable room with bath and (easy to use) shower.
Great breakfast - fresh fruit and fry up
The hotel is located right on the front of Poole Quay making it a perfect location to access all amenities. The room was nice and clean with a fantastic harbour view.
Beautiful hotel in the centre of Poole. The room was amazing, service perfect. Breakfast was up to high standards with delicious dishes early in the morning.
This is little gem of a Hotel , walking distance to Poole, view across Poole quay was lovely staff very friendly breakfast yummy, defiantly would stay again
