Nice little market town with plenty of places to eat in the evenings, even in the winter. It is a good centre for visiting other places nearby and it has the main attraction of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Clean tidy and relaxing.
Clean tidy and relaxing. The birds at the pond were lovely to see. Even saw a kingfisher. Hot tub was very nice and they even turned up the temperature to meet our preference. The hot tub was checked and attended to promptly ever day of our stay. I know Pickering very well as my daughters lives there. We used the site as a place to relax and be with my family after loosing my brother few weeks before. My husband had also retired that weekend so we wanted to be close to our family. All our needs were met but could have done with few more cooking dishes and trays as we did not want to go out to eat. Would recommend the site to others.

Such a beautiful part of the country.
Such a beautiful part of the country. The town itself is great just to have a good walk around. But you are close to other locations eg. Whitby. To really enjoy in my opinion one of the best locations in England. Excellent for walkers, photography ect

Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction.
Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction. The stops are interesting and mostly independent! Parking is plentiful! Pickering is a fabulous base to explore the moors! Just 20 minutes to Whitby, 20 miles to York. Plenty of places to eat, lovely cafes and pubs! Don’t forget to visit the Castle. Scarborough is a 30 minute drive. People in the town are very friendly and the shops are very welcoming of dogs. Pickering is a real gem of a town! Flamingo Land theme park is about 10 mins from Pickering.

The purpose of our visit was to visit the Bangers and Cash Auction House, and to visit there memorable museum in Thornton le Dale. Pickering was a nice place. We went out of season so it was quiet and only went for two days. Ate at a Indian restaurant which was recommended to us.

Pickering is a pleasant small town.
Pickering is a pleasant small town. The church is an interesting old building. The key tourist feature is the North Yorkshire Moors railway which runs to Whitby and offers a nostalgic experience of train travel in the age of steam. Pickering is a good base for exploring the North York Moors National Park and the coastline.
Everything about this place met or exceeded our expectations. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. The food, breakfast and dinner, was excellent. The reception was always available, if not physically manned, all the time. The room was a good size, clean and quiet, despite being on a main road. Pickering is within 2 or 3 miles and is a lovely little market town on the edge of the N, Yorks Moors, and the N. Yorks Moors Railway station is in Pickering. Really Nice little hotel.
Excellent hotel, well run, with very friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Food was consistently good and used award winning local produce. Extensive, good looking breakfast menu. We both had the full cooked and it was outstanding. I have no doubt everything else would have been prepared to the same standard based on that, our fellow diners' discussions, and the evening meal in the restaurant prior.
Outstanding accommodation and perfect location. Sally was the perfect host, always helpful and served a delicious breakfast each morning with nothing too much trouble.
With the separate bedroom with en-suite, sitting room and dining room, all spotless clean and so tastefully decorated, it leaves hotel rooms for dead.
We could not recommend highly enough and would love to return ASAP.

We loved being able to use the fireplace. We were in The Tack Room and it's a very well laid out cottage. It's comfortable, homely and cosy; perfect for a couple to stay in.
It's walking distance to everything in Pickering and it's a relatively short drive to York, Whitby and other coastal towns. You can also get to Dalby Forest and other lovely places pretty easily for a nice walk which we liked.
Well located, it’s a 15-20 minute walk into Pickering. The garden is well kept and attracts many bird types. The main benefit if it’s peaceful location. There is a lovely walk from the hotel through the woods and flood defence area then back across the steam railway line and back down the road to the hotel
Very friendly and warm welcome. Had dinner in the hotel which was served piping hot, my gammon being exactly how I had requested it cooked. Exceptionally clean room and throughout. Good night's comfortable sleep. No noise from nearby road. The manager knows her job and is a good 'people' person.
Lovely quiet location yet only a thirty minute walk or five minute drive from Pickering. Secure parking right outside the property. The Stables was an ideal base for exploring the area. A light, airy and comfortable property and a very relaxing stay.
The property was clean and well equipped. The location is perfect for the North York Moors, the steam railway at Pickering, Whitby and Robin hoods bay were not far away.
York is well within an hours driving distance, use the Park and Ride.
Location is excellent and this hotel is maintained to impressive standards. Offered a discounted upgrade to a superior room and enjoyed a super comfortable king sized bed. Bathroom had underfloor heating.
Everything about the hotel was excellent, beautiful room and fantastic food. You need a car as there is nothing in the village but it is very close to Pickering and other North Yorkshire attractions.
Lovely restful couple of days in Pickering. The Old Manse is perfectly located, close to all the amenities. Great breakfast and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Definitely staying again
Location in Pickering was great. Nicely maintained property; decently sized rooms and bathrooms. Food was great and really reasonably priced. Owners were helpful and flexible.
Very cosy cottage in quiet location. Lovely facilities, had everything we needed. Loved how the peacocks visited our garden. Easy drive to Pickering and Flamingo Land.
2 en suite bedrooms, well appointed kitchen. Off road parking behind property. Location, 2-3 mins from Pickering High St and 5 mins from the Ryedale Swimming pool.
