Northampton is one of England’s largest towns and has appeared in writing since the 10th century. The large medieval market square has an array of stalls 5 days a week, and nearby are the Market Walk and Grosvenor shopping centres. A larger retail and entertainment site is out of the town centre near Sixfields Stadium, home of Northampton Town FC. The Northampton Saints rugby union team play nearby, and Silverstone is south-west of the M1.
To the east is Billing Aquadrome, a marina complex with go karting, minigolf and a miniature railway. A smaller marina is along the River Nene in Becket’s Park, overlooked by 78 Derngate, a Grade II-listed house redesigned by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Other notable buildings are the Guildhall and colonnaded All Saints Church. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre dates to 1100 and is one of England’s largest round churches.
On the outskirts of town, by one of several golf courses, is Delapre Abbey, and to the north are other historic mansions of Coton Manor, Cottesbrooke Hall and the most famous of them all - Althorp House, the final resting place of Princess Diana.
The Northampton accommodation on Booking.com includes hotels with swimming pools, alongside apartment and guest house options near the train station and university.

The surrounding areas were nice and I was at a conference at Delepre Abbey which is well worth a visit, the grounds are lovely and you can take your children for a run around or your dogs. Picnics in the summer would be lovely.

I formerly lived in Northampton and was staying over night to meet with family. As a town it has changed significantly from my child hood and whilst attractions in the town could be considered limited, there are interesting places to see and it acts a good based to visit other attractions in the surrounding area.

We used to live in Northampton some years back and the changes were a shock to the system. The volume of road works was staggering. More cones and detour’s then the M6 in the 80’s. The town center covered in chewing gum pats everywhere. Most of the big stores had closed down and large shop area closed off.

There are loads of individual shops in Northampton, and not many large chain shops. It is quite a large city centre. There is a large central church - All Saints Church, which is open during the day, and serves refreshments, with lots of outdoor seating. Saint Peters church is another, older building with many interesting features. There is a large bus station very close to the centre of town, and the train station a short walk away. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, with several interesting pubs to choose from.

What I didn't like in Northampton:
What I didn't like in Northampton:
Northampton is a town from the past. Poor quality roads.
I was really disappointed in parking meters - I could not pay for parking by card as all the parking meters required coins. In 2023 that is a big disappointment as I don't use wallets since 2004 and don't have any space for coins.
I could find a parking lot where I could pay online. The website was ancient, like being built 15 years ago.
It is very well located, next to a park, walking distance to the town center. The places looks dated, although I think it’s charming, and it was perfectly clean. Lots of storage space in the room, new TV, a kettle and selection of tea and coffee, cookies, little fridge, I couldn’t ask for more. And let’s not forget about the breakfast - very generous and delicious, cooked to order. Overall, this hotel offers a tremendous value.
Very modern, clean, comfortable place to stay which far exceeded what we expected considering the very reasonable price we paid. Free car parking!! Staff very friendly and conscientious. Continental breakfast very nice. Location good, longer walk to centre of Northampton than from some hotels we looked at. However its not far and the walk is pleasant and the payback is the quiet location and the cheaper price. Excellent stay!!
Location was perfect and easy to find. The studio was tastefully decorated and provided everything one could need to ensure a pleasant stay! Josh (Host) was outstanding and provided everything needed to get in and once checked in followed up several times throughout stay to ensure my stay was perfect. Definitely will use again when back in town.
We have used this hotel several times before. The location is excellent right in the centre of town. The staff are always friendly and it is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and very good value for money, highly recommend taking advantage of it. Will definately stay again when we next visit Northampton
Excellent spacious apartment equipped with everything you need for a self catering break. Beds were amazingly comfortable and despite being on a busy road noise level was low. Just a few minutes walk into town centre and train station. Great communication with our host. Would definitely stay if we’re in the area again!
The location was convenient for our travels to Oxford and Cambridge. The hotel's breakfast was as described. Consistent but decent spread. And the takeaway breakfast was very useful to carry some food for the kids. We had requested for connecting rooms as we were traveling in a group and that was accommodated.
Room was clean but shower gel pretty hopeless
Husband and mysellf food was good but my daughter had cottage pie and will ill
during the night contact hotel twice but was no reply to me a answer would have been nice I was not saying it was that that made her ill but thought I should inform them
.Wow!. What a hotel.. Spacious room
Spacious shower.. Shower was right pressure and easy to control the temperature. Room was clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast and all these for a very reasonable price.
Am tempered to go back to Northampton all because of the Langham hotel
Check in/ out staff were friendly, the member of staff that was present when we got back from an evening out, not late I might add it was barely 9.30, didn’t even acknowledge us when we said hello as we walked in.
Pleasant walk into the town centre, good location.
Location was perfect, walking distance from the town centre. The property was immaculate any and had plenty of space for 4 people. Two bathrooms along with a separate toilet made getting ready a lot easier. The hosts were very responsive with our enquiries.
I like the staff and the cleanliness of the room. The housekeeping came everyday to make sure everything is good. the size of the room was spacious. The hotel is 10 minutes far from the city centre and close to public transports as well.
Really nice and comfortable hotel which is in a great location, close to the town centre. The staff are very helpful, in particular Maria who was wonderfully pleasant and accommodating during our stay. Thanks a lot, would visit again
This flat was in an ideal location for our requirements close to 2 good supermarkets petrol station and within 3 miles of Northampton Cricket Club. The flat was very modern and beautifully decorated. it was lovely.
This place is a gem… close to town center/train station. Exceptionally decorated, most comfortable beds ever, and a beautiful private garden paradise! Doesn’t get much better.. 5 star accommodations and great price
The beds were comfortable. The location was good for what we wanted to do. We came for the Bedlam breakout festival, which was walking distance. Also good restaurants nearby.
