We made the trip to go on the Pelagic Cruises and some sight-seeing in the Islea of Scilly generally. Plenty of eateries in Hugh Town - but pretty slow service - gave up on one when told 25mins to wait for lunch order. Didn't look round Hugh Town particularly as not interested in shopping/beach. Tourist Info pretty good.

Good spot but queuing all the time to get in the coop not good. Shame the Bishop and Wolf is closed. Butchers round the corner was much better! Local boats don’t seem to operate social distancing, packed solid! It’s a good spot to get anywhere on The Scillies. St. Marys has a lot to offer. Porth Hellick one of our favourites.

Busy harbour with easy to access trips to the other islands.

Busy harbour with easy to access trips to the other islands. The town is small with narrow pavements but limited traffic. The Garrison was well worth a walk. It had lots of useful information boards and the views out to sea were worth the walk up the hill. There are a few small shops and restaurants/cafes. There are several pleasant beaches within walking distance. We ate dinner at the Mermaid just off the harbour. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely.

Very friendly locals. Good food everywhere. Lots of activity to just sit and people watch. Laid back. Everyone (including tourists) acting as humans talking and laughing rather than slaves to their mobile phones.

Go to the Kavorna for friendly helpful staff great food at good prices and pet friendly. Buy a pasty and find great views and beaches to enjoy it. Mermaid and Atlantic are friendly pubs for variety of drinks with great atmosphere and dog friendly. Then walk or bike to Old town for beach, history in churchyard, cream tea or pint in pub. There is a wonderful Artist studio in silver street, meet Steve Sherris the brilliant artist and his lovely partner Alison who put their heart, soul and love into these outstanding pictures of Scilly. We found Bondy cafe NOT very friendly. But Oldtown cafe on beach much better. Oh there is also a great Gin school down the road!!!!

For us, Hugh Town was the best place on the Scillies to stay. There were plenty of places to eat and drink and there were a few shops; we didn't want or expect any more than that. It is the hub of the Scillies and where the boats sail to the other islands from. We enjoyed our visits to the other islands, particularly the Eastern Isles to see the seals and dolphins. Some of the restaurants have a sea view and generally the food and service are very good.

I must say it was a beautiful boutique hotel, especially Peter, working at the front Dess along with his coworker. She was also very friendly and helpful. The dinner was superb Lee the Chef in excellent job. The breakfast was superb as well. Obviously, they have a wonderful staff and the housekeeping also was superb. I would highly recommend this hotel. And the front desk staff, Peter, and the lady both were extremely helpful in getting tickets for the boats and exploring other islands.

The staff in the castle dining room was attentive. Food choices on the menu were extensive. Lots of seafood. Though travelling on my own, I found it easy chat to other guests during mealtimes. Plenty of sanitisers round the property. Booking of swimming pool ensured covid restrictions were followed. I enjoyed the swims almost every day. Great location for town centre. Fabulous sea views from the hotel. The luggage pickup and drop off service was much appreciated.

The facilities and the site are outstanding - we especially liked the swimming pool! The rooms are bright and clean and serviced daily. Views from the battlements(!) are stunning and the Conservatory restaurant is a beautiful setting - the atmosphere in there is also more relaxed than the main hotel restaurant. Staff are very helpful and there is always a list of the days’ boat sailings to the other islands pinned up by reception. Useful for planning your day.

Our room was a superb base to explore the archipelago from, when we landed it was a short walk from the airport past fields full of the joys and flowers of spring, and was an easy walk into Hugh Town for food and boats to the other islands. Having full cooking facilities made life easier (and cheaper!), and we spent a lot of time happily sat by the front window enjoying the view. One of the most relaxing holidays I have been lucky enough to go on.

The hotel provided everything we needed and delivered exceptional service. Staff were friendly and able to offer advice, the food was excellent and the location for us rowers competing in the IOS Gig championships was perfect. Bags being dropped at the hotel from the ferry was also an added bonus. We would highly recommend this wonderful family owned hotel as a great place to stay on St Marys.

We were delighted to stay at the Star Castle Hotel - this was a real treat for us and really lived up to (and exceeeded) expectations! The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was excellent - hadn't expected such high quality. The setting and grounds were really magical and memorable. A great holiday and we would love to return.

It's not the hotels fault, but the weather prevented us from getting there.....however I had hoped for some kind of offer as I paid on zdvNce in full all lost as no refund policy applied....just take the money and silence...not very customer friendly or thoughtful or caring.. Like I said disappointing!!!!

Well appointed rooms, good restaurant, located on the edge of the islands largest village, so quiet at night. Room was a suite and a decent size. Nice small garden area at the front of the hotel for sitting out.
