The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.
The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.
One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.
Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.
Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

I had a fabulous time, wonderful shopping, excellent places for eating, so tranquil and relaxing. A visit to the Turkish baths is a must but pre book or you wont get in, have been before and will go back again.

Just walking around the fabulous architecture was an inspiration. The choice of cafes and bars and restaurants is incredible as are the green spaces in the town, especially Valley Gardens. We loved our trip to the theatre which was spontaneous and booked a few hours beforehand, as well as our 2 hours at the Turkish Baths (if you like heat and very cold plunge pools - otherwise this might not be your thing!). We ate at Lucia’s and Konak Meze - enjoyed both but especially the Turkish restaurant and the ambience.

Harrogate is like many of the towns in the UK.
Harrogate is like many of the towns in the UK. True it has more Heritage, than most others, but it seems like all the councils of the UK has conspired to make all the places look and feel the same. We would come back, at a different time of the year, just to see how much difference the weather makes to your experience.

Large hotel, needs a bit of TLC but room clean and comfortable. Staff pleasant but could be a little smarter. Ideal location for centre, good value for money. Can't comment on breakfast as we ate elsewhere. We only stayed one night and I'd certainly use again. Don't pay £12 to park in hotel, download the app for the car park a two minute walk away, only £5.65 for overnight.
Perfect last minuite stay away with my wife and 3 year old, just a short car journey away from Harrogate town centre to visit the xmas markets.
Room was immaculate and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very nice!
Excellent stay, cannot fault and will definitely remember this hotel next time we visit Harrogate
The location of the property was great and onsite parking, with it only being a short walk to Harrogate city centre, however it was not made clear when booking that there are two site locations of the aparthotels, and incidentally we were given one that was not pictured in the hotels advertised properties.
Expensive but for a treat, worth it. Really good size room, bathroom that looked brand new (and everything worked). Food was good though expensive and the bed was big and comfy. The location of the hotel was very good being near the centre of Harrogate. An excellent choice for an expensive treat.
Excellent value for money. We got far more than we expected for the price we paid. Excellent location, well within walking distance of Harrogate centre. Free parking, helpful and friendly staff. Warm, clean, comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Huge hotel with period features.
A stone's throw from Harrogate's town centre, this lovely quaint hotel offered a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. The staff were attentive and they served a great breakfast in the morning.
Gorgeous hotel only a short walk away from the city centre. Plenty of parking nearby as well . Staff friendly and helpful . Would definitely recommend and would stay there again if visiting Harrogate
