Lovely quaint Somerset town with good shops for size of town.
Parking not good though as limited to 2 hrs Mon-Sat 8am-6pm unless you want to walk from a car park 10 mins away. Even then not a 24 hr parking.

Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset.
Beautiful village setting in rural Somerset. Must be a driver to get around, although there are very basic amenities on the doorstep. If not eating out within the village you need to have a plan of where you are going to eat (google and trip advisor are your friend here). Supermarkets are about 5-7 miles away so you need to have a plan for this kind of trip.

Visited Castle Cary as somewhere to stay whilst visiting Longleat. Found Castle Cary a very friendly traditional small town with plenty of historic buildings. Pleased to find many tradition, locally run shops.

it is a pretty little town. i love the hill behind the high street. next time i go i’ll make sure i’ll visit on a weekday and saturday (there’s a market). i live in london and visiting a town like castle cary is very special. it’s quiet with beautiful cottages. i really love going up and down the hills, seeing the lovely town and spotting the tor from the top of the hill. it’ll be lovely to ride a bike and go to other town near by.

Castle Cary was form our trips around the county a typical Somerset town with easy access to other places such as Shepton Mallet and Wells. however like so many other places people/businesses were recovering from COVID but don't let that deter you. If travelling from the west avoid the A303 at all costs!
Plum cottage is a lovely period cottage in a fantastic quiet location in the centre of Castle Cary. Access was easy and all information very helpful. The cottage has been very nicely decorated in keeping with its cottage style and age and is very clean and well maintained. The courtyard garden is pretty and a lovely sun trap, where we enjoyed sitting at any time of day.
Communication with the owner was pleasant and a very prompt response.
Avalon is owned and operated by a friendly, elegant couple who keep their home in immaculate condition. It is spacious, well appointed, has high ceilings, picturesque views of a garden, farm fields and Castle Cary. Frances prepared wonderful breakfasts with tasty options. The house is next to Ellesmere House another B&B. They are virtually the same in size. While also nice, I would return to Avalon House as my first choice.
Hues was easy to find in Castle Cary, and the instructions to get into the apartment were straightforward. The room was great, clean and well appointed. The breakfast room was well equipped, clean and well stocked. The concept of three unique rooms/apartments with a communal breakfast room works so well. It was a great base for me for the 4 nights I was there.
Lovely hotel, perfect for our one night stay.
Around 20 minute walk from the train station.
The staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room was massive for the price we paid.
Not sure if we will stay again as we stayed here for a wedding but a good little play if you need somewhere nice to stay in Castle Cary.
When it says Swallow Cottage, Castle Cary I expect it to be in Castle Cary not small hamlet two and half mikes away. With only one pub and no other amenities. The actual meaning of cottage is a small dwelling and a dwelling is somewhere that you can live which does not apply to this particular Swallow Cottage.
The bedroom has 5 star hotel quality bed linen and soft, thick bathroom towels. The separate living room gives the option for watching TV or working independently if the other guest wishes to rest. Frances is an excellent host and was most helpful in restaurants and local attraction recommendations.
Absolute gem! House was beautifully presented and super clean. Chris responded really quickly to my questions and could even give recommendations outside of Castle Cary for things to do. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or at another of Chris’ other properties.
Pet-friendly, quiet place, friendly host and easy communication, big shower, phone chargers, convenient location, cute deco (would recommend adding some hooks maybe?), clean and in general good value for the price
Hewlett’s Mill is a little piece of heaven located near Castle Cary. We had a lovely room with comfy bed. The breakfast was yummy and the hosts were really welcoming. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
The Hues Apt in Castle Carys is a wonderful place to stay. The Apt was beautiful and high standard.
Perfect location with a 3 min walk into Village and we enjoyed a tasty meal in The George Hotel Pub.
The kind and helpful hospitality of Melanie and Martin in their fascinating home.
It’s a short walk in to beautiful Castle Cary.
We had a very relaxing stay. Thank You.
