At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.
loved loved loved Osaka. The food was amazing. Things we tried Takoyaki, Kushikatsu, Okonomiyaki, Ramen and the cakes. We loved all the different flavours. If you want to try different food all in one place, visit Kuromon Market. The Kobe beef is to die for, 1 skewer was approximately Kobe $15 or Wagyu $8 AUD. Our favourite Ramen place was Ippuo which was just across the street from our hotel.
Namba was fantastic area to stay in.
We did a few day trips so the location of Namba Station to our hotel was great. We used the Metro Line nearly everyday. We didn't buy any of the travel cards (just tickets) as we were there only 8days.
The lines and stairs are unavoidable. The stairs are a killer, however the lines move quickly so don't be put off.

It’s very different from Tokyo, Narita area.
It’s very different from Tokyo, Narita area. They have become more westernized. Especially when it comes to their nigiri. They add so much sauce and extras. Not like the traditional nigiri style. It was extremely cold, like depressing, can’t do anything weather. I barely noticed the sun out all of the 5 days I was there.

Osaka City is an absolute treasure trove of warmth and wonder! From its bustling streets to its rich cultural heritage, every corner of this vibrant city is brimming with charm and excitement. Whether you're indulging in mouthwatering street food at Dotonbori, marveling at the iconic Osaka Castle, or immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere of Namba, there's never a dull moment in Osaka. But beyond its famous attractions, it's the warmth and hospitality of the locals that truly make Osaka special. Everywhere you go, you're greeted with smiles and kindness, making you feel right at home in this bustling metropolis. With its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Osaka City stole my heart, leaving me with cherished memories and a longing to return again and again.

Either a day with overnight stay, or a day trip from Kyoto...
Either a day with overnight stay, or a day trip from Kyoto would have been sufficient. Compared to rest of country, the city was so-so, but what's truly impressive is how much of the city is in the underground at several of the train stations. At the Osaka, and Usaka-Umeda train stations, the underground walking area is a city of its own. Its extensive! Its nothing short of a spacious, glamorous, labyrinth. Boggles the mind to imagine the planning and execution that went into is marvel. Its extensive! Overall Osaka is very end-to-end built-up city; its business-like.

I have to be honest, I didn't enjoy Osaka as much as I enjoyed Tokyo, Kyoto & Hiroshima. It can be very crowded in the popular areas, noisy, perhaps more suited for younger people! If you love shopping, eating and crowds, then you'll love Osaka! I'm glad I've been there but I've got no desire to return.

The city is clean and the people are very kind.
The city is clean and the people are very kind.
It is good place for family because it is near to Universal Studio Japan Amusement park and beatif antique temple and also have good shopping center. Most of all, there is Pokémon center for kids and you can get wonderful Pokémon characters.
Dotonbori hotel is perfect place to stay you want to access Osaka places, it is also close to Osaka namba station which makes it really good spot if you are heading from KIX airport.
Services are amazing and you get free Sake and cup of noodles from 4PM to 9 PM which makes it perfect for chill and relax. You have few amenities such as 7 eleven, Lawson close by so if want to grab anything additional then you are walakable distance. I would recommend this place for any one who wants to stay nearby
super clean. and big! had 2 extra beds in the dinner room. not sure the Japanese name. but the table and the floors super cool. mankai was walking distance and the best ramen we ate in 2 week trip from Tokyo to osaka . staff was super nice helpful. was the most “authentic Japanese room” we stayed in. subway was super close, nice city view. housekeeping was on point definitely recommend this hotel. the castle was in walking distance. was fantastic!
Very friendly staff which understood enough English to help with basic needs. Staff had a live translator which was very helpful as well. The price which we booked the hotel could not be beat and the location is very convenient for what my wife and I were planning to do. It was a perfect location to have as a hub in Osaka. Also this was one of the best AC units in any of our hotels in Japan, would recommend this place if you plan to stay in the summer
For anyone using the trains to get around Japan, staying in a hotel directly above a JR train station is a great way to go! There are so many food and shopping options on the floor below, combined with a extremely comfortable hotel above. It made for a great home base for our touring of Osaka and Kyoto. Coming back to the hotel each night, we had a huge selection of food options without having to leave the property. We had a fantastic stay here!
Hotel Noum Osaka is in a lovely spot on the river. It's in a peaceful area particularly for such a busy town. It's got good access to a couple of train lines and if you have the energy you can even walk to the busier parts of Osaka from here. It's also very close to Osaka Castle. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Their English is some of the best we came across in Japan and they're ready to help with anything you might need.
Breakfast was very basic Japanese. Not enough variety. Location very good. Close to train / metro stations & plenty of bars & restaurants. Further to my first review , we did not stay there again . Two reasons. Firstly , the mid-week rate is quite a bit higher than the weekend & we found an APA Hotel that represented better value. Secondly, the route we chose to return from Hakuba terminated at Osaka station ( not Osaka Namba ) .
The location is very convenient. Dotonbori is 5 minutes away by walking. Very short walk to train stations, JR Station, laundromat is across the street. 7/11, Lawson, family mart are minutes walking distance. Staff ( Hsueh) was working when we checked in and checked out. He speaks minimum english but was extremely helpful. Room is tights as many hotels in Japan but comfortable enough for 2 adults.
Super convenient compact hotel. It has really nice modern Japanese style design. The room itself is quite small - pay attention to the description while booking. We were ready for this, yet of course it is not comfortable for two people with two suitcases. Amenities are good with a pleasant smell, tea and coffee are tasty. Location is good, Dotonbori area, Osaka castle are easy to reach.
I wanted to stay in Dontonburi, and the hotel was perfect for that; it is close to all of the attractions there. It is within reasonable walking to a subway/rail line for easy access to other parts of Osaka. The breakfast was incredible too. It was a Japanese-style breakfast with some Western elements. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family in Osaka.
The hotel is located strategically near major train stations (Osaka-Namba, Namba, Nippombashi) so it was a short walk to wherever we want to go, like Dotonbori and the malls. The rooms are IMMACULATE. I LOVED that the beds are king sized so there's enough room for us. We met and made friends with one of the staff, Jeremy, who was a great help addressing our concerns.
This is a newly refurbished hotel that’s a couple of minutes from the east exit of Shin-Osaka station. Super clean and comfortable. Highly recommended for easy access to the Shinkansen or remote work (they have a work desk and plenty of outlets). Room is a bit bigger than the average Japanese business hotel. Will definitely stay again.
The room views were absolutely brilliant. Facing to the river side Yodo river. The room size are considered bigger in Osaka city area. The hotel room price was included the breakfast buffet in which a value added to the complimentary to hotel guests, its seldom occurred as most of the Japan's hotel are separately charged prices.
I like the location( near dotonbori, koromon market, namba station metro osaka, a lot good shops with gacha near and family mart ) the space and price. I like also the extra bed, the easiness of the washing machine, microwave, sink and electric stove. The instruction on going in the room was pretty fun for me :D .
Very nice, modern hotel. Good location - close to Osaka Namba and to Dotonbori. Good options for food near-by (both for eating out and supermarket - there is a big 24/7 supermarket (not convenience store) very close by).
Good value for money. Staffed reception. Nice lobby area with water and tea facilities.
The location is incredibly ideal. Exit 3 of Higobashi station is right in front of the door. Within a minute you're at Osaka station and the other way, a few minutes to Dotonbori.
The staff is very friendly & the bed is one of the best in the business hotels I've stayed at.
This was a great hotel to stay at in Osaka. The staff were incredible and helped at every opportunity to ensure the best stay possible. Would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family going to Osaka, Japan. Looking forward to staying here on our next visit to Japan.
This is my third time staying at Nico Hotel and it has always been exactly as what I expect it to be. Rooms are spacious as compared to the standard rooms you get in Japan. It is the perfect choice for groups or families traveling to Osaka.
Close to osaka station, a later check out available compared to other hotels that we have experienced in Japan. Sells an umbrella if needed with 500yen. Big tub. Close to the universal city. Provide ice machine.
Cross between Airbnb and hotel. No reception staff, but room was quite large, included a sink with stove for kitchen area, large fridge and microwave. Short walk to Osaka/umeda stations, less than 10 minutes.
