    Taraz seems a very interesting town, and I liked it vastly more than Almaty, the only other place where I spent time in Kazakhstan. Everyone we encountered there was extremely friendly, in contrast to the brusqueness I felt in Almaty.

    I stay here just 2 nights to prepare to go to Bishkek by bus...

    I stay here just 2 nights to prepare to go to Bishkek by bus. It is not a big city, not crowded but silence, calm, I like it! After having enough rest, I take a bus to the city center, also went to Karakhan Mausoleum to take a walk and feel the holy place.

    Definitely worth a visit!

    Definitely worth a visit! On Sunday mornings there is an animal market (mal bazari) just north of Taraz (on the road to Asa). Go there early in the morning to enjoy the chaos of the animals and the friendliness of all people at the market.

    Taraz has numerous parks and monuments which makes it a great place for an evening stroll! The restaurants are excellent providing both great service and generous portions. I especially enjoyed Kish Mish. Take the time to visit archeological sites and the shrines in nearby.
