Most of the island's attractions - shopping, restaurants, hotels, the port to access other islands and the airport bus - are within a two minute walk of each other. I didn't visit the attractions outside of the centre because I didn't have a car and the local buses didn't run frequently but I had lots to do nonetheless. Took a very enjoyable day trip to Taketomi Island.

The accommodation offered a breathtaking view of coral reefs with a lush jungle as its backdrop. We spent our days walking down to the nearby beach, enjoying swims and snorkelling adventures in the warm waters. Our host even took us on a tour where he showed us clownfish, adding a layer of wonder to our stay. If you're a nature enthusiast yearning for a tropical escape that connects you with the natural world, this place is an absolute paradise.

I liked that you can get around in short time and still have a big variety of things you can do. I was there in Feb and no watersports was possible for me as it was too cold. Went to Karibe for a walk and to Iriomote for a bike ride.

A beautiful island, which is surprisingly big as it takes about 3 hours / 120km to drive the ourter circumference.
Once you get outside of the main town it is exceedingly quite, with beachtiful beaches and countryside.
A car is a must!
The main town has easy access by boat to other remote islands. Taketomi was only about 15 minutes away, with stunning beaches, a good bike rental service with shuttle bus from the port and ox-cart rides!

Ishigaki has a lot to offer.
Ishigaki has a lot to offer. It's small enough that you can see it all in one stay but it's also varied to make you want to come back.
The North coast is unspoiled. The beaches are never crowded. Some like Yonehara have showers.
You can relax and refresh. It's an ideal place for families or couples.
There is a wide range of eateries and lovely souvenirs like shells, textiles, cosmetics and tofu chips!

The property is in the middle of Kabira Bay village, close to all the restaurants of the small town. The hotel and room was really clean and comfortable. The owners were really kind and fixed the problem we had with the wifi, installing a repeater close to our room and it worked. We loved looking at the stars from the rooftop of the hotel, absolutely breathtaking (they have a bench at the roof terrace to enjoy the view). Advisable to rent a car as public transportation is very limited and beaches are a bit faraway.
We ( a family of 4) had a great time in the sunset cove hotel, food was very tasty, room were comfortable and quite clean, and the best was the hospitality of all the people who work in the hotel.
Beach and pool was clean and there is also kayaks on the site free of charge.
Kids were quite happy with the manager Mr Josh and his jokes and also they enjoy playing in the pool.
Thank a lot Josh and all the team, looking forward to see you guys again.
I liked the outdoor pool and loungers, as well as the ping pong and billiards table and the hammocks. The baths were really great, and the only ones in our whole holiday to include extra towels (so you didn't need to take your room towels) and a cold plunge. One of the hotel receptionists in particular - Kakeru - went the extra mile and helped us a lot (to find an osteopath in town, to stay extra nights because of the typhoon etc).
We loved the location of this hotel, because we really felt like we were in the middle of nature with our forest view room. We used the private onsen both at night and in the morning and it was the best feeling! Even though it rained during our stay we had a wonderful time. And the option of renting some movies had a fun nostalgic factor.
The hotel is very conveniently located on the bus route, the bus stop is literally outside. It’s a little way out of the town, but you can rent a free bicycle and enjoy cycling to the center. The breakfast was wonderful! Both the room and the hotel was clean and had a lovely beachy ambience. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more!
We loved the hotel! The location, the people, the room were fantastic! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely come back. The staff is so kind, friendly and caring. They helped us a lot, they even gave us their own bicycles for free when there were no bikes available for rent. I really want to come back.
The location was great and the facilities were really comfortable, I felt at home.
Was the best staff I have experienced interacting with from all hotel stays in my life.
They were personable and genuinely cared that I was comfortable. Whenever I had a special need they did their best to help.
We had a pleasant stay with a nice view and atmosphere with a welcoming feel. It felt welcoming as the bus stops were so close, a ride away from town. The beach was walking distance away and in general the hotel was very large and offered a lot of utilities that made it a very nice stay.
Despite all of the restrictions imposed by COVID 19, the staff goes to great lengths to ensure the comfort of this hotels guests. Great dining, immaculate rooms, great swimming pools .. ANA InterContinental Ishigaki continues to be an oasis in this beautiful island setting.
Great beach front location. Pool and beach are well maintained and aesthetically pleasing. Very quiet and relaxing. Hotel rooms all have great views. The staff was exceptional and top notch. also highly recommend the snorkeling tour. we will be back again.
What an excellent breakfast! We were so nicely surprised by the breakfast- variety, taste, quality and presentation were excellent for the cost. The hotel is in a good central location and ideal for a short stay, as we were passing through to the islands.
Breakfast buffet was full of Okinawa local foods. Delicious and delightful.
Room was cozy with good harbor view,
Hotel building was clean and cozy, but seemed not new fashioned. But, that made little bit nostalgic mood nice to stay.
The place is good for backpackers. The manager is a very flexible person. Had to change the booking for a hotel after one night and the manager did not hesitate to effect the change.
Loved the personal exceptional customer service from the manager Josh..
Location was beautiful.
Be aware it is a long way from town
Hotels car hire was good value.
The location is fantastic and was extremely well equipped. probably the best equipped set up I have stayed in Japan. very clean and ease check in and check out.
