You are paying for that breakfast.
First, everything else is already ranging from expectedly standard and excellent. Clean, large spaces, indoor slippers, free coffee and soda drinks (limited time per day of course), and all the disposable amenities necessary.
Helpful staffs with very warm attitude (yes, I know what I meant by that. They are both polite AND warm. I can't help but notice that).
If you have luck, you may get a room with a nice view of the ocean (if the floors are high enough).
Massive plus:
The location is 2 blocks away from the tram lines to Hakodate station and 3 blocks away from Omori beach. Nice sunrise! 🌄
Big plus:
There's a microwave right near the elevator on each floor.
Extreme plus:
My god, that breakfast buffet. For the price you paid, holy moly. Crab legs, mini cakes, the ungodly variety of toppings you can put on your rice. All the salad sauces. Grilled fishes, smoked salmon, raw salmon sashimi, squids. Matcha pudding, fruit cocktails, yogurt, actually tasty corn soup with fresh toppings. Bakeries, fresh grapes and various fruits.
They also changed it a little each day.
For the price you paid, just GET. THAT. BREAKFAST.
I felt like 80% of my excursions in Hakodate was royally tinted by that breakfast. Major mood maker ✨🫅
Suprise plus:
There's a free-flow of Hakodate salt based ramen at night!

A great hotel just across the road from the train station.
A great hotel just across the road from the train station. Close to other attractions eg the fish market. The room was a great size and big compared to other Japanese rooms we have stayed.
The breakfast was wonderful - a mix of Japanese and Western food.
The staff were friendly.
We wished we could have stayed longer but we only stayed for a night as a stop over.

Planned for 1 night stay; however while we arrived at Hakodate in the morning, there was unfortunately a slight snow storm that impeded our evening and night touring! And the storm continued till next morning and in the afternoon we left Hakodate for Sapporo, so didn't have the chance to see what we have planned.

We stayed overnight at Hakodate travelling from and back to Sapporo. We got to enjoy the morning seafood market that we were looking forward to and got to visit other places of interest on our drive from and back to Sapporo.
The visits to Mt Hakodate Observatory and Goryokaku Tower were enjoyable and it was also a good thing that the weather was cooperated and we had clear views of the city and sea.

Hakodate is a lovely place to explore if you enjoy Hokkaido seafood. It is a costal city and beautiful in autumn. I explored the city taking the trams and walking. The Red Brick Warehouse is a great place to shop and eat. The streets are super clean and easy to walk. The parks are beautiful with autumn coloured trees and flowers.

I heard so much about the sweet melon.
I heard so much about the sweet melon. Bought a slice at Y400 to try it out. Rather disappointed. Not sweet.
Have to beware about the price difference between sellers for crabs.
Knowing Y per Kg helps.
Amazing place to stay especially given the value. Great location close to the station and opposite the morning seafood market. Room was small but this is expected for most hotels in Japan and we had a beautiful view of the city outside. Amenities and house keeping were very good. The hotel had a voucher system that you could purchase for a meal at the seafood market which was a nice discount. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooftop onsen was beautiful. Would highly recommend staying here if you're in Hakodate.
I had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. The rooms were very spacious. There is a separate bathroom and toilet. Beds are comfortable and there is a nice sofa a the window. Check-in was very easy. For breakfast you get a breakfast coupon that you can exchange in one of the fish restaurants at the Hakodate Morning Market. It was a wonderful experience. There is a big parking lot nearby and the train station is only a five minute walk. The tourist attractions are a 10 minute walk away.
The hotel is conveniently situated next to Hakodate Station, which is particularly advantageous during winter travel. Additionally, it is close to the morning market, and within a 10-minute walk, you can reach the tram station. The hotel provides complimentary skincare amenities, access to a public bath, and free coffee. Furthermore, guests are offered the option to choose their preferred pillow.
Location is excellent as it just takes less than few minutes from JR Hakodate station to hotel by foot. Staff are very helpful and friendly; despite poor in English. Room is spacious and AC is performing well unlike many Japanese hotels. There is a small corner at lobby for free coffee, soups and wine for hotel guests.
The breakfast buffet spread was one of the best i have had in hotels. Thankful that we were allowed to check in slightly earlier after our long journey to hakodate. The rooms were spacious and clean. We also enjoyed the baths on the top floor v much. Will definitely stay here again should we be back.
I have to say a big thank you to the staff. My mom forgot the room number and got lost in the hotel. To find her, we caused lots of trouble to staff. But they show patience and professionalism. This group are so helpful. Thanks. I will book this hotel again if I had a chance to visit Hakodate again.
I loved the location, the view, the room design itself, amenities, and the convenient location to the Train station. A hotel I would have liked to have stayed longer at. Perhaps if I'm ever in Hakodate again I'll stay a few nights instead of one.
I stayed in the dormitory. The bunk bed was really comfortable. The hotel is also centrally located in the Bay Area near many attractions and restaurants. The shared bath facilities were also spacious, and the hotel in general was very clean.
The lovely hotel in magnificent Hakodate was more than a pleasant surprise - with a large and comfy room, rich breakfast, onsen included, and the location - next to a small shopping centre and the train station - was definitely a plus.
Super nice hotel!
Great location, great service, friendly staff. Good value for the money. Very comfortable. Would definitely recommend. Me and my family would surely choose it again next time we visit Hakodate. Thank you!
Great location. The hotel is attached to the Hakodate train station and directly across from the market. Staff were super friendly and helpful. As a solo traveller, you can't really ask for anything more. Great stay!
Everything. The location, the spaciousness, the facilities, the view, the service all top notch. The bathrooms were very clean too. Totally value for money. My next time in Hakodate, I will always choose Hotel Resol.
The room is big enough for family of 4
The public bathroom is more than expected
I would like to give special thanks to the staff who is willingly to help sending the belongings that we forgot to our next hotel.
LOCATION GREAT . A LOT OF RESTAURANT NEARBY. THE FAMOUS BURGER Lucky Pierrot Hakodate Ekimae JUST BY WALKING DISTANCE . HOTEL NEARBY GOT CAR PARKING BUT NEED TO PAY . I WILL STAY HERE AGAIN IF NEXT TIME VISIT.
It's close to attractions such as Mt. Hakodate. The owners were incredibly sweet and nice, and went above and beyond for us. If I ever go back to Hakodate, this will be the first place I want to stay.
The staff are very helpful and accommodating.
Tram and bus step right next to the hotel.
Good view.
Relatively spacious room.
Decent breakfast.
This place is some of the best bang for your buck.
A very comfortable stay and all the staff were polite, helpful and nice. The hotel was near to Lawson, Family Mart and JR Hakodate Station. The beds were comfortable.
Overall, the service is good, location is great, it’s near the market, the pier and the mountain top! I will recommend this hotel for a short stay in Hakodate
