We've stayed in Unhais da Serra as a base for exploring Serra de Estrela and the region. The town is nicely located in a valley, and pretty well connected - the closest bigger city Covilha is about 20mins drive. There are few well established restaurants in the town with good ratings and decent local food choices. Also a good store with local cheeses, delicacies and craft. It's certainly a nice mountain retreat place. Will visit again in another season.

Lenda do Viriato restaurant has amazing food! and it's walking distance from the hotel. A small grocery shop called Merceria da Estrela is great to have portuguese tapas (the lady prepares it upon request) and to buy cheese and enchidos.MafaldaBarrosPortugal

The view from the goat room is amazing. Teresa is very thoughtful and even proposed a vegan breakfast (not included in the price). There is a nice hiking tour only a few minutes away from the house. We were very lucky to enjoy a quiet and peaceful sunset and sunrise as we had the house for ourselves the first night but if you have other guests in the house, the atmosphere might be very different and less intimate.

Having breakfast outside looking at the mountains is just an amazing and unforgettable experience! Close to the restaurants and cafes of the town Unhais da Serra. The ground floor room with the terrace is amazing for trips with the baby. We put the baby to her afternoon nap and were able to chill with a glass of wine, while listening to what's going on in the room. Very comfortable stay with the toddler in this room with the terrace. Beautiful pool. The owner is very kind and sweet. We will be returning.TiagoPortugal
