Hotel Posthuys Vlieland, hotel in Oost-Vlieland

Located 8 km from Vlieland's harbor and centre, Hotel Posthuys offers non-smoking accommodations and an eatery open during the day.

We’ve got a spacious room, well warmed and clean. Good mattresses (it’s the hard ones for us), but far from softness dark colored towels. There is a kettle, coffee machine and a set of tea bags in the room. Unfortunately, our room was not cleaned during 3 nights stay (no vacuum, no fresh towels, nothing, even trash bags were not replaced). For breakfast, it was a bit awkward to wait when the waiter brings you a plate and cutters, we even had to ask for plates. Plates are not served at tables or in a pile next to the food, as it is usually done. I’m not sure what is the reason of the hustle to go back to kitchen to bring sets for each guest. Decent variety at breakfast for early birds: yogurt, omelette, cheese, croissants and pancakes, boiled eggs, 2 types of juices, for coffee / tea you also need to ask; at around 9.20 you’ve got what is left, which was kind of okey in the end. It was great to learn that there is a luggage delivery, when I saw other bags labeled at the reception. Our luggage was delivered directly to the ferry. As I understood, all hotels do this. But still, very helpful.

    Good roads for cycling, hardly any cars.

    Good roads for cycling, hardly any cars. Good island for beach walks too. It's a small island (e.g. vs. Texel), for adults, a week on Vlieland would be too long unless you like to read many books and meditate. Many birdwatchers were visiting too.

    Vlieland is a beautiful island.

    Vlieland is a beautiful island. You must enjoy walking, biking and solitude. The town has everything you need, grocery, restaurants, some shopping. Many activities to choose from. There are miles of beaches with almost no one around.

    Top place for families comprising of various generations (...

    Top place for families comprising of various generations (from small children to seniors/grandparents) to explore island life, its biodiversity, dunes & beaches. Touring the island on bike combined with stops for beach walks / picnics and bird watching is highly recommended. Come with your own evening/night entertainment (books, games), though there are many places to eat and have a drink in the village of Oost-Vlieland.

    The island is very beautiful and well preserved.

    The island is very beautiful and well preserved. Because the cars are not allowed , it is very safe to bicycle and the air is very clean. The nature is well preserved : dunes , forest .. While the beaches are very nice , we noticed a lot of with/yellowish foam /mousse on the beaches due to eutrophication, which is an increase of nutrients in the sea. Eutrophication is mostly due to human activities, like industry and agriculture. This is a pity and I hope that the locals and the European union will take severe measures to save the beauty of the North sea beaches and islands;

    The location is great. Middle of it all.. Room with a Seaview is the best! Loved it. Peaceful to wake up to that or sit at the balcony with the sun. Staff are super friendly and professional. Always helpful and welcoming. Nice that next to the hotel, there is a bar where you can have some drinks and fun before going to bed. The breakfast buffet was also good and with variety. In overall, a great place to stay when visiting lovely Vlieland.

    I had a apartment with balcony . It was winter but the balcony is very small . The (Hästens)beds were too soft for me and a little bit too big for the bedroom the sitting room and kitchen was roomy. Not a big kitchen but ok for making breakfast and easy meal. No oven but microwave. Fridge had no freezer. Overall a nice apartment and the hotel is in the middle of the dorpstraat . Shops are very close .

    We had the rooms with sea view and the view from there was exceptional. We all enjoyed the stay a lot. The breakfast was very standard and no complains there as well. The location is very close to the Ferry depot, two bus stops, shopping stores, restautents and of course to the sea. We also went there for birding and we did see many species quite close to this hotel.

    The location is fantastic, right on the beach, on top of the first dune. We were not in the main building, but the one across the road and that really lacked atmosphere. The room was spacious, but basic and lacked a bathtub. Good breakfast and a nice pool. The beach restaurant is also great and right in front of the hotel.

    Great central location, very friendly staff. It was very quiet when we stayed so breakfast was specially prepared for us which was lovely. Dinner in the restaurant was superb. And the hotel is very dog friendly, first time that any accommodation I stayed in provided a proper dog bed.
