Varkala beach is busy very busy on weekends with lots of Indian tourists. The cliff side walk has lots of restaurants and shops. We found the beach a bit rough with the waves but beyond the waves it was calm . The stairs to the beach can be challenging if you have knee issues . It’s has a good atmosphere but we prefer less touristy places hence staying at Odayam each area .

Touristic place.
Touristic place. So lots of restaurants with a large variety of meals, bars, shops, ressorts, loud music, massage.
Best restaurant is Clafouti for me.
Nice beaches, big temple.
This is a tourist destination. India' s soul not there. Crowdy, noisy, pushy salesmen, beggers, stray dogs.
Pretty dirty environment cause of littering.
2 to 3 days stay is enough.

Beautiful views from the cliffs, plenty of beaches, option to learn surfing (!), good food, and the most gorgeous mangrove/backwaters (30 mins away).... that's Varakala in nutshell. Lovely cliffside walks with breaks for some ice cream at Scoopy or a whole Israeli breakfast(yummmm) at Buddha Bar. We loved ABBA for all other hunger pangs. Having a rented scooter to go around the places away from the cliffs helps, but there were plenty of Autos as well.

Its took travel time is too far, Kerala roads are not good. Many people not follow traffic rules. Really upset to road travel to Kerala. Many sign boards are shown only in Malayalam Language, we struggled with read.
Except that places are really good and peoples also very friendly.

The main beach of Varkala - around the helipad area- has gone through an unhealthy and unregulated development over the years. It has lost its rural charm. Head north - beyond the mosque. There you`ll find hidden treasures: Odayam beach, Baba`s restaurant, and some other places on the small hillock. The lotus pond with the buffaloes is a magical place.
Serene location, spacious and clean dorms, wonderful hosts - Molly and Keshav. They'll help you with contacts and activities to do in and around varkala. It's rare to find such helpful and humble hosts. The love you get from Chotu , the hostel guardian doggo. The property is away from the crowded north cliff ( walkable ) in a silent locality with access to beach and good food around. Will be visiting again in Jan or feb. They also have a beautiful garden and roof top area to chill and work.
This has to be one of the best beach stays I've had. Clean room, spacious bathroom, the breakfast nook above the reception area has a lovely view. The staff was the sweetest and the most prompt. The beach is within walking distance and the area is serene and perfect for those who prefer less crowd. The resort is at quite a distance from the busy North Cliff area that is packed with cafes, shops and hotels but one can do a small hike to go to the other side or just take an auto,
Loved the place and the people. The people there are amazing and will be the best part of your trip. The property is well maintained, spacious and comfortable to stay in.
From the cleanliness to the adorable furry friends to the fun, communal nights, Cliff and Coral is a place for doing your own thing and having fun, while keeping within your budget. Definitely the place to stay in Varkala.
I stayed here for 2 days. The room on the ground floor is only AC the rest are non AC.A total of 3 rooms. One on the ground floor and the other on the second floor.Very near to varkala south cliff beach 10 min walk.restaurants are also nearby. The owner is very helpful and decent person.car parking is available.Quite locality.second floor room have a kitchen and dining table as well.
This is the best place to stay in Varkala. It is very close to the cliff, nevertheless very quiet and cosy and the rooms are spaciious and very clean with a very nice balkony. The people are very friendly, helping their guests with everything and making them feel at home. I liked this place so much that I came back here and I can highly recommend this place to everyone.
Beautifully thought out rooms each with their own balcony, perfect for breakfasting, reading, contemplating away from the bustle of Indian streets. A short walk from Varkala beach - 10 mins form the main cliff-top tourist restaurants and souvenir shops. Very friendly staff and owner - helpful researching and sorting our onward connections. Would definitely recommend.
We’re a family visiting from Australianand we’re lucky to come across this new, modern and clean hotel with comfortable rooms and beds, very professional staff who are keen to make all guests feel welcome, and an excellent location that is in a quiet spot yet only 40 metres walk from the cliff where all the action is, 5 minutes walk from the beach.
the best place to stay in Varkala! beautiful, super clean and spacious room. comfy bed. located in walking distance to bars/ restaurants on the cliff however that makes it very special because it's actually quiet here! owners- helpful, kind and easy-going :) make sure you book surfing session with them! thanks Guys, I had amazing time!
The location was perfect considering the beach was merely five minutes away. Its proximity to resort-restaurants made my stay during the pandemic stress-free. There's greenery all around, and I felt absolutely safe even though I was the sole individual staying at the property. I loved trekking daily from Odayam to Varkala North Cliff.
The small cottages were very comfortable and set in beautiful gardens, so very peaceful atmosphere. It was only a short walk down a lane to arrive at the North Cliff Varkala where the cafes etc were located. The manager & his assistant were such pleasant people, who made sure that we had everything we wanted, they were so helpful.
Very well maintained, a green cove just as in pictures. Peaceful premise, service was non intruding, pramod and gopan was very friendly and helpful with all our needs. Yako and Sophie is as much a part of the stay.
The South cliff beach is just a walk away, less crowded and picturesque cliff view
The location is amazing. A slice of paradise a bit outside of the center of Varkala and resort-busy North Cliff.
The whole team was super friendly, helpful and welcoming!
Super layed back atmosphere with the bungalows having their own little front porch.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was clean. This hotel is nearby the North Cliff. The manager was very kind and supportive. He arranged transportation for us & also allowed us to keep our luggage after check out.Highly recommend this hotel.
An amazing hospitality, felt between friends.
I had a very good time talking to kuji and kuku.
Their English is perfect. So calm and peaceful.
Close to the beach (3 minutes)
6 km to the cliff
They helped to relax and also with thinking what to do
Amazing hotel with very good rates. I think it's a 4 star, not 3 star. Extremely clean, luxurious and comfortable. I much prefer to stay here than in varkala which is just 15 minutes away. Much more comfortable and also much cheaper!
The location is great as one can easily roam around the North cliff and there are many cafes and restaurants around. The beaches are close by. The staff is helpful.
People are good and the food was great. And I was on a workation, talking about internet speed. It's great.
The location, easily accessible to beach and cliff area.
A pleasant stay in Varkala. The property was quiet naturistic. Cliff is 500 m from the property and it's walkable. Budget friendly and nobody will disturb you.
