It is often said that everyone should visit Kumbakonam at least once in their lifetime to truly experience the rich history and culture of India. Words cannot do justice to the incredible experiences this city has to offer. Everywhere you go, you will be surrounded by Indian spirituality - from the massive temples to the water bodies and greenery, Kumbakonam offers a truly unique and delightful experience for those seeking it.
Kumbakonam is also known as the karmabhoomi of Raghavendra Swami and other saints, and is home to many Muths belonging to different faiths. For Shaivas, it is considered a Bhu-Kailas, while for Vaishnavas, it is a Bhu-Vaikuntha - a true spiritual haven for all who visit.

The area is full of temples built decades/centuries before. Had chance to visit and pray in Navagraha Temples.
There are number of small and medium size veg restaurants in and around. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced.
Most of the hotels don't have attached restaurants.
Hiring a taxi is the comfortable way of reaching out to temples within stipulated time.
Taxi fare is reasonable though not according to Govt fixed rates.

One can find hundreds of old temples around Kumbakonam and it is not possible to cover everything in a few days.
Most of the Hindus travel over here to cover Navagraha temples which are nearby. You may need one or two days to cover all along with a few main temples like Swamimalai is one of the six abodes of the Lord Karthikeyan/Muruga/Subramani.
The nearest railway station is Kumbakonam and the airport is Tiruchi.

It's a temple city ... basically, you see prominent temples everywhere.. The entrance would be on a small corner road.. but inside the temple would be huge.. In some temples, Reconstruction is going on.
If we preserve these temples in a better way they will add significant value to our culture and our tourism to flourish, but most temples are being neglected and their beauty is getting eroded.

Tamil-speaking visitors who know which temples they want to visit should be delighted by Kumakonam and its surroundings. For others... The temples are very spread out and outside the city, so hiring a car and an English-speaking guide is indispensable. And the critical mass of foreign tourists visiting there seems too small for this to be readily available as it is in places like, say, Hampi.
The place is a little outside of Kumbakonam, nice and quiet and very well maintained. Balaji, his wife and staff made us feel at home immediately. We learned to paint Kollams, had the most interesting, personal and warm encounters and exchange and were helped with whatever we were interested in - even having a workshop in a local bronze casting factory. We are looking forward to come back to friends whenever we have the chance to visit South India again. The place is perfect for groups as well...
Probably one of the best hotels in Kumbakonam! I had a lovely stay here. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful and courteous. A special thank to Rajesh for helping me set up the itinerary and driver for a tour of nearby temples. The location of this place was also perfect, right in front of the small pond and Kasi Viswanathar temple. The layout and internal decoration is also quite inviting.
We don’t know where to start. This place is a wonder of Kumbakonam. A hidden treasure shall we say.
We’ve only stayed for one night, but we were filled with mind peace. Welcoming staff, spiritual atmosphere, Clean rooms and a thriving complimentary morning tea !!! What else would you want . Please do visit ! Highly recommended to all your friends. Love from UK, Netherlands, France
Just stayed a day. Courteous staff, close to Kumbakonam Railway Station and Bus stand. You can take an auto to get yourself dropped here. The hotel is in the main area and a lot of restaurants and food cart are available. With loft facility. The rooms are comfortably big. AC throw was perfect. UPI and cash transactions only. 24 hours check in and check out is a huge plus!
The atmosphere of he hotel is amazing - historical building, tradition, history, color, it is like a museum, you can take endless stroll and always come across something beautiful, astonishing. Rooms are like a palace chambers , very high ceilings, old furniture, and all set in the garden, with peacocks, ponds. It feels like a lucid dreaming
The hotel is at walkable distance to most of Kumbakonam temples. Close to the Bhagavad Padithurai to have bath in Kaveri river. The staffs are friendly. Small hotel with about 10 rooms only. Clean and nice interior decoration. Reception staff are friendly and knowledgeable
Nice and peaceful , mostly good was good but there were two chefs one was extremely good the other wasn’t good when we pointed out that the food wasn’t good though they excluded the dish from being billed the chef didn’t seem to take it well. Overall a great place to stay
location, of the hotel was well near to the centre of kumbakonam town, parking, of 4 cars available in the hotel and may be 4 more cars can be parked near on the road side, its a newly built hotel so it was very clean, the staff courtesy, size of room all were good
One of the best places to stay in kumbakonam. Perfect location, proximity to temples and restaurants, and the hotel looks almost brand new after the refurbishment. Ample parking space is available too. Keep up the good service.
Had an great stay in hotel , rooms were well maintained and it was spacious clean & neat . Staffs were friendly towards guest. Hassle free Car parking with decent space. Well recommendable to all guests !!
You need to educate your manager look and behave like a manager. Educate staff that they don't pay the hotel expenses and because of customers from all corners of the world the salary is disbursed.
Everything else was good, especially the hospitality. They even arranged internal transportation for us and food when requested. Thank you so much Hotel Atlantis.
