Wuxi made it virtually impossible for foreigners.
Wuxi made it virtually impossible for foreigners. They require the use of an App called Linxi but this cannot be used by expats. Your passport has to be registered in Wuxi in order to use the App. I had to ask a colleague to help add me to theirs. She had to list me as a dependant (child). The next problem was trying to explain to people they had to scan my QR code which nobody understood how to. This experience made me never want to travel here again. Even the PCR tests weren't linked to Alipay therefore upon returning to my home city, I was unable to use the metro to get home!

Wuxi has many sights to see, especially around the lake.
Wuxi has many sights to see, especially around the lake. Buy a garden pass if you plan to see more than one garden as it'll save you money. Nan Chan Jie is full of restaurants and coffee shops and it's building are in the old style along a canal. During Summer it's possible to sit along the canal and enjoy a meal. Taihu has lots of gardens (free and pay to visit) that are wonderful to walk around, especially in Spring. It's worth taking time to travel out to the Lingshan Buddha.

The food street has so many, varied restaurants, and is a picturesque area...well worth visiting, even if you don't eat!
The Temple area has some very interesting, small craft shops, and cater to local tourists, so prices are reasonable.

A nice, clean and friendly city.
A nice, clean and friendly city. A nice bar area with good restaurants. Ask for taxi to Blue Marlin restaurant the surrounding area is the beautiful old Town. The temple and tourist shops and stalls, restaurants, boat rides and views are great.
Mr Peter was our knight in shining armor! Hotel Kapok wasn't expecting to see 3 laowai walk through the door and when we did the confusion hit... but Mr Peter calmly diffused the situation and handled it like a seasoned pro. He also recommended which attractions to visit. Thank you Mr Peter the definition of a 5 star employee!!!
Great location for us. We were attending a competition and the hotel was in walking distance. We also had booked a taxi from the airport to the hotel though booking.com and this worked very well. Staff were very friendly and there was always someone speaking English on hand to help us out.
The beds were comfortable, the room was spacious, clean and the breakfast had a great variety. It was a thirty minute walk to the lake, and while it was away from the hustle and bustle and nightlife, the city streets are quiet and pretty.
The hotel was very well located in the heart of the city. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were okay for the price point. Breakfast was okay too, they had Western options. Most hotel staff could speak English.
Central location, close to shopping centers, banks, cafes. The hotel is not fresh but reasonable for price and services, quite clean. Fitness centre small but working. Free parking lot for guests and their visitors.
High floor with expansive view overlooking the city. It is close to everything and most importantly, hotel provides FULL internet access, you can access most of the usual stuff with no block. Gig deal in China
