If you are a first time traveler to Qingdao, bear in mind that Qingdao has spent the last decade upgrading its transportation system, and in doing so, make it a lot easier to get around the city. For example, if you fly into their new airport, Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, once you gather your bags, you have a choice of using the city's rail service (Line 8) to get you to downtown Qingdao. It connects with Line 3 (Licun Park), and Line 3 connects with other lines, so rather than pay crazy money to get to downtown, you could pay as little as $1 just to travel to anywhere in Qingdao. The signs are in English, and they have staff on hand who speak some English as well. Great airport!

A wonderful city where people seem friendlier and less in a rush. We loved the European style in the German quarter and the view form the Signal Hill park. I would recommend having a little coffee there in the cafe up top. Very interesting to see second beach and then enjoy the cable car over the city from Zhongshan Park.

Some of the museums temporarily don't work, others finish accepting visitors too early each afternoon (around 4pm), so double check the working hours before planning your visit there. The city architecture is amazing, you can just walk round the city without any plan and enjoy fascinating views. The beaches are great and clean but have nowhere to hide from the sun.

Always love Qingdao, this was my fourth visit, though the first in over 12 years. It's great for a beach holiday in northern China (though don't expect beaches like you'd get in Mauritius!), and has the added attraction of the German architecture in the old town and plenty of good restaurants. It's easy to get to from Beijing on a 3-hour fast train and easy to get around on the subway or by Didi. I'd recommend going in September as the weather is still hot but there are far fewer tourists.

Qingdao was a welcome getaway.
Qingdao was a welcome getaway. We live in Shanghai and were looking to escape the hot and humid summers. The climate in Qingdao was amazing. We walked most of the way and in between, we enjoyed good local BBQ and cheap draft beer. Dont forget to visit the old german governors mansion and walk along the boulevard, and especially not the qingdao beer museum!

Often overlooked by tourists, Qingdao is a great "China for beginners". This city is well-ordered, easy to navigate, and safe. A nice balance of fairly recent history with modern services and a unique natural environment between mountain and beaches.
This hotel is a Chinese local one. Therefore, breakfast is generally local breakfast composed of noodles, fried vegetables and eggs. As a foreigner, that was all right with me. the location is very close to the conference and exhibition hall. Even though the reception staff didn't know English, we managed to communicate with mutual efforts. room is fine. over all it was a nice stay.
Nice accommodation in this slightly quirky building. I had a ‘big attack room’ and it was really simple and comfortable for the 4 nights I was there. The service and food in Jinn’s cafe/bar in the basement was great. Sitting out the from of the hostel with a cold Tsingtao in the evening till it’s dark. I would stay here every time I am in Qingdao I think!
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is quite well designed and our room was spacious. The hotel is located within 500m of the beach, subway and bus, and it's in a historic area with many cafes and restaurants. It's a bit pricey but it is a unique place to spend a few nights. Light breakfast is provided.
It's a beautiful historic building with friendly staff. The location is nice, close to Beach No. 2 and the Badaguan scenic area. The room's furniture was nice and practical, with a good wardrobe to truly unpack and store clothing. The terrace on the third floor, overlooking the bay, is a heavenly place for breakfast.
The rooms are nice and have everything available. The beds are very comfortable and the view is magnificent. Bathroom is big and clean and magic glass in the bathroom is very cool. Breakfast is great. Location is right on the beach which is accessible from the hotel. City center is about half an hour by taxi.
I liked hotel location and design. You can go to everywhere easily. Main tourist attractions are nearby hotel. Rooms are very small but super clean. Stuff is attentive. There is a varied and delicious breakfast. if I travel to Qingdao again, I will stay in this hotel.
The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The breakfast deal was great value for money as it also offered refreshments and a light dinner in the evening. Hotel was very conveniently located next to a large shopping centre and train station.
The Apartment is spacious, clean and well equipped with everything for a short or long stay, there are shops , convenience stores and a mall nearby and perfect location by the sea with the view of Qingdao East Coast.
Don’t be put off by the dated interior in the lobby. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The reception was very accommodating and kind. The hotel is very close to the peer, and the Cathedral.
The pool was closed for renovation, I wish they mentioned that on booking, because that was one of the reasons to choose this hotel.
The AC was not working, it a was 30 degrees in the room.
the staff was very helpful, the bed was really comfortable,
the view was spectacular, the hotel was right across from the ocean. 3 minute walk, very highly recommend.
The staff was exceptional. Especially Hardy. He was very warm and hospitable. I would be looking forward to coming back and staying at Shangri- la Qingdao again.
