I made the mistake of visiting Chengdu when it was SNOWING and Wet Snow / Icy Rain drizzling for a few days in January 2024. That kind of (very rare) weather kills everything touristy in Chengdu: Most hotels have no heater. You need to use the AC......after one night's AC blowing, I woke up with a bad cough and developed a bad cold soon afterward. One tip: Ask your hotel for a movable heater for your room: Much better than using the AC.

Sichuan is well worth visiting and Chengdu, the capital, has an interesting history. The people are very friendly and there are plenty of places in and around the city to explore. The metro is excellent and the restaurants plentiful. Wouldn't go to the giant Panda Breeding Base if I visited again - very crowded and in January crowded but very little to see and parts of the centre shut and locked. Although the site is enormous, and it would take at least a day of walking to get around the whole place, there are I believe better and more intimate Panda centres in the area.

Interesting and culturally rich.
Interesting and culturally rich. Clean and technologically advance.
Friendly people and a safe country to visit and walk around.
Very affordable food.
However, everything will be in chinese, the signages, the menu and the language spoken. It was really challenging for non mandarin speakers to communicate there.
Not a place to shop though, cannot compare with Bangkok or Beijing.
The Panda Base is not worth a visit if you want to catch Pandas, because they will be either hiding or sleeping. However, that attractions have many instagram worthy spots to take pictures.
Kwan Chai alley is a must!! with very affordable opera shows.

Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China.
Chengdu is a busy and popular travel destination in China. The museums are impressive and have amazing cultural relics. It can be hard to get a booking to visit a museum, the booking process can be difficult (mostly online via wechat). Some places in the city are very crowded, keep that in mind.

It's a big city, 20 million inhabitants , but not difficult to get around either by taxi or metro or bus. There is so much to see and enjoy including the stunning Du Fu gardens and many monasteries and museums. The people are charming and very helpful if you need assistance . The food is fantastic and there are little shops and tea houses everywhere. Just go there, you won't be disappointed. Truly a great place to be.
The hotel is located on a kind of small island, surrounded by river and park. Quiet and there is space for a walk, free and convenient parking. Staff is super good. Buffet breakfast is good 8/10 compared to others branded hotels, rooms are clean, has bathroom. We paid around 70 usd per night, very good value for that price. Some hotels for 100 us in China are worse. Great territory an can have breakfast outside.
The boutique hotel is charming with lovely art and Tibetan decor. We found it conveniently located as it was close to the subway "Tonghuimen", opera house and "kuanzhai" alley where there are little food stalls and souvenir shops. The hotel owner helped us buy last-minute opera tickets when the booking office down the street told us they were all sold out. Very helpful staff, which made for a great stay.
Breakfast wasn't huge, but very good variety. The location was awesome, sandwiched betwee the most popular shopping outlet and classic Chengdu streets. Room was clean, modern and well kept. Great gym and indoor swimming pool. Staff very nice and most of them speaks English well, showing professional standards. Room service twice a day with fruits being constantly refilled. Superb hotel.
The room has all facilities I was looking for in my business trip. The service is superb, they are kind and always helpful. The location makes it so easy to move from here to other areas of Chengdu by car. Closed to the airport. The gym is 24 hours, which was highly appreciated since I only had early hours in the morning to workout. I am definitely coming back for leisure.
It is very clean, and the staff were very friendly. The room is very specious with a great view of the city and the river. It has a roof garden on 34th floor for you to enjoy the city lights with a nice breeze. I booked 4 rooms for a week for my family gathering we had a wonderful time. I would book the property again when I visit Chengdu next time.
This was an interesting experience. I think the hotel's system is really great. After booking, they added my WeChat, sent me a step-by-step guide, arranged airport transfer, told me the car's number, and were really nice.
The room was comfortable, and I can't say anything bad about anything else.
Pleasantly old-fashioned Chinese hotel quite different from the standard ones. Large rooms, nice view from the window, many things to do in the direct neighborhood. Open-air restaurant in the patio. Laundry service for free! Try the rabbit head sold in the neighboring shop,
The hotel was very well located. They provide a map of Chengdu and are very helpful. They have a lovely terrasse to have a drink or breakfast with lots of plants. I loved the paintings in the rooms. They will suggest good restaurants.
I have had a positive experience at the hotel, especially with the helpful concierge services and the excellent assistance from Doris. I stayed in this hotel before and after my trips to Tibet on mid September 2023.
excellent staff. stayed for a month and didn’t want to stay in a conventional hotel. was nice to do laundry and have open windows. the pool and sauna were great. Vera the manager was very friendly.
The hotel is close to Jinli Road and has easy access to transport of all sorts. The location is really convenient and nice. The staff is super helpful and speaks English! :D
Very convenient location, close to many attractions and subway. The restaurant in the hotel is good taste and worth to try. And they provide free laundry.
