Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.
Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall, or Glockenspiel, in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.
For great shopping, Karlsplatz is a pedestrian zone which takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse is yet another commercial wonderland. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.
Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city center from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.
Munich was very expensive and a bit underwhelming.
Munich was very expensive and a bit underwhelming. The architecture within the city centre was a joy to behold and capture, however, although the restaurants we visited were first class in terms of provisions, amenities, and customer service, it is not a place for someone to visit on a very low income.
There are places to eat out at outwith the city centre which ate less expensive but these are hard to discover.
Saturday nights in the centre of Munich is out of bounds if visiting a restaurant or bar unless you make a reservation beforehand. We couldn't get into any licensed establishment on Saturday evening in the city centre although there are plenty of eateries.
Retail therapy on a Sunday is a no-go as well as 99% of retailers are closed on this day.
The planned guided tours of Munich are mainly German spoken and are very stop start in nature, so you'll hardly get to see and savour the place you primarily wish to visit like Dachau Castle.

Munich has its own character and charm on its own! Marienplatz and the shopping district would be a good place to start the attraction sightseeing. We love a place called Augustine Keller, a beer house that is located near Eden Hotel Wolffe and showcased the charm and rustic culture of Germany. Very nice place for dinner and drinks!

We stayed 4 days (3 nights) in Munich.
We stayed 4 days (3 nights) in Munich. It is very easy to get around in the town, the underground network is great, you can easily access any place. We visited Deutsches Museum and spent a whole day there: it was fascinating, however, 6 hours were only enough for a quick visit, you could spend a lot more time in there.
Next day we went to the FC Bayern München Museum and Stadium/Allianz Arena. The museum is interesting, you can walk around it in about 1.5-2 hours, there is a souvenir shop at the exit as well. It is worth booking a guided tour around the stadium, it is very enjoyable.

Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Did Mike's Bike Tours - great way of seeing some of the city - leisurely pace. Went to Dachau with my teenage son - easy get there. Visited Marienplatz, climbed the church tower, had beer in the Hofbrauhaus. Englischgarten great for a visit - massive - surfers on the Eisbach river so impressive.
Public transport in the city is very good - easy to get around and cheap.
Would really recommend a visit to Munich.

Munich in March- still very busy!
Munich in March- still very busy! In some parts can be very seedy as with any city. Lots of beggars, barber shops and kebab shops with men gathered in doorways all smoking furiously. Beautiful architecture and this place is HUGE! 3 days was not nearly enough.
We did not want this to be so, but our visit to Munich overlapped with the Octoberfest. We battled to find reasonable accommodation that is affordable, well located and pleasant. Very difficult because of the beer fest. The hotel however is a budgetary hotel, smallish room with two single beds pushed together. They were rather small with a very small duvet cover each.
Though away from the city centre, the hotel is very close (50m) away from a major bus route. This worked very well.
Fantastic central location and great value for money overall. Friendly and helpful staff, good sized room and bathroom. Very clean and modern, with nice views of the city. Great sound proofing too, we only heard some noise from the street cleaning machines and church bells but that's what you get for being right in the city centre - it didn't bother us and we slept very well. Big, comfortable bed too.
Would definitely recommend this hotel if you're visiting Munich!
The location is 20 minutes walk from the old city centre. There are a lot of construction works around the hotel. We have a room on the 5th floor with the balcony and the garden view. It was good. No conditioner in the room, it was hot without it. But the price in comparison with the other hotels was fantastic, the parking as well. We paid for parking 10 Euro per night, it is the cheapest what we had found.
Location is the best. The breakfast was very good and definitely worth its cost. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. In general it is an old school hotel with all the small supportive facilities which are now missing from the new automated high tech new small hotels. Some parts of the hotel are under renovation which shall only make it better. Definitely my new first choice in Munich center.
The location of the hotel was ideal. We booked this hotel as we wished to visit the Christmas Market which was only a short walk away. It was also convenient to visit other places with the city centre.
The staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was cleaned daily.
There was a good choice of food for breakfast.
I can highly recommend this hotel for a city break in Munich.
Great location in terms of being able to easily walk there from Munich Central Station after catching the train in from the airport. From the accommodation you can easily walk to many of the main attractions in Munich. The California Bean cafe which is on the same street as the hotel and only a short walk away is a great spot for breakfast.
It is a very good hotel outside of city centre of Munich. The room was big and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The shower can be a bit better. Wi-Fi is very good. The breakfast is full of options. If you like walking such as I do, the Center is 45 minutes away on foot. They have secure parking. Above all staff is amazing.
My sister and I had a wonderful experience at Bayer's City Hotel. The staff was delightful, eager to help us with everything we needed and very friendly!
It is located close to the city centre and the central station.
Our room was lovely, very clean, and comfortable.
I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Munich.
The location of the hotel is excellent. The underground station is nearby. So it is ideally connected to the Airport as well as the city centre. The room was very clean. Breakfast was very good. The staff was very kind and helpful, especially at the reception. With pleasure, I would book this hotel again.
The hotel isn't a luxury hotel nevertheless room are wide, confortable and clean, the managers of the facility are kind and helpful, the breakfast included in the room fee has a good variety of choices and a free parking it's available inside the hotel courtyard fact that in a city like Munich it's a plus.
Nice comfortable bed and room. Very handy for railway station direct trains to airport and city centre also underground trains start here. Also REWE supermarket opposite and ALDI on the other side of the station. Had 2 nice evening meals in the hotel but did not have breakfast.
The location is in the best part of Munich, I dream of living in Schwabing one day. You're literally a few steps from everything including excellent food, a great gym and the train. Best location possible. The price was also super cheap compared to all hotels in this location.
the hotel is very clean and modern with a minimalistic design. if you're coming to Munich for medical reasons, it's very conveniently located close to various medical centres; however, it's pretty pricey for a 3-star hotel far away from the city centre
Great breakfast. Great location to the old city center. 10 minute walk. The location to the train station was quick and easy. Overall, really good experience. I would recommend this hotel and use it again if I were to go to Munich
The hotel is in a quiet area outside the center of Munich. Including the walk to the S-Bahn, we could be in the city center in less than 45 minutes. Parking was plentiful and included. Our room was spacious, updated, and clean.
Location is a couple of minutes walk from the S bahn and just past that is the Munich city centre, very easy walking.
The hotel itself is on a fairly quiet street set a bit away from the main road. The breakfast was good too.
The location is grate , it is located near Munich main station.
The staff are so nice and cooperative, my respect to the manager he nicely responded to my request,
The Lufthansa bus to the airport is next to the hotel
Very nice hotel just outside of Munich city center. Excellent breakfast buffet and the rooms had great A/C. About a 15 min walk to city center and tons of food around the immediate area.
