FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Chapultepec Park was my favorite destination because of the many museums and the forest setting. The National Museum of Anthropology alone is worth a trip to Mexico. But the National History Museum is a close second. You might want to do them on separate days. We used a lot of Ubers during our stay. Our hotel was in the Historical district, which was okay but maybe not the best location. An area near Chapultepec Park would have been better.

It was a great city. Getting around was easy. Used uber, walked and used city buses. Favorite part is we stayed the first 4 days near zocalo and it was great visiting all the beautiful churches. Last part of trip we stayed in Roma, but I preferred zocalo area. We ate mostly street food and it was amazing.

Mexico city has a lot to offer.

Mexico city has a lot to offer. Teotihuacan is a must see as well as Museo nacional de antropologia, the main museum of the country. Some areas of Mexico city are very pleasant to visit as is the area around Paseo de la Reforma, Coyoacan, San Angel. The historic center is worth a visit. The most problematic is moving around. Mexico city is huge. It has metro, but there is a big but - almost no escalators. When there are quite long passes to change metro lines (1 km) they have 3-4, sometimes more long and steep stairs. Very tiresome. Impossible for elderly people or those with small kids, particularly in rush hours from 3 to 8 p.m. Taxis as alternative may be expensive because of terrible traffic jams and long distances. The only practical choice - to use Uber for ordering taxis. Some museums, like Frida Kahlo require advance reservations only by internet, not possible to buy tickets on site.

There are many sights to see in CDMX, but my spouse is an artist so the Frida Kahlo Museum was high on our list. Get tickets in advance on the museum website is you plan to go. We stayed on the edge of the Condessa neighborhood, fuull of interesting shops and restaurants, and walking distance to the Chapultepec Park, full of interesting sights. We were bowled over by the Museum of Anthropology. If you have time and like that sort of thing, worth your time. The Pyramids of the Sun and Moon are worth the trip.

We were in Mexico City to celebrate a friend's birthday and most of us stayed at Uliv Poe in Polanco. Great location and easy for all of us to meet downstairs and do the activities together. You can never have enough time in Mexico City, there is a lot to do, museum and cultural institutions galore, and we celebrated in Xochimilco. Highly recommend if you like good food, culture, etc. Best week to visit in Easter week when traffic is at its lowest.

The staff at this hotel are really lovely and helpful. I have dietary requirements and the women making breakfast would make something specially for me every day. From the reception staff, to the guard on the door, to the room cleaners everyone was genuinely welcoming, lovely and helpful. Location is amazing as it is very close to the main areas of restaurants and bars in Polanco but is on a relatively quiet street. It is quite a charming little place, we would often take our breakfast up onto the terrace of a morning and it was so peaceful.

This hotel was perfect for our 5 day trip exploring Mexico city. The hotel was modern and well priced. We opted for the cheapest room which was fairly small but the room was very comfortable with comfortable bed, air conditioning, a fridge and a good shower. The smart TV was huge and the WiFi worked well. The buffet breakfast was good and had a wide selection. The location was great, next to the metro and a short walk to the cathedral square. Staff were helpful and attentive.

Excellent hotel! Very clean, modern and has good amenities and room service if you need it. The wifi was the best, most reliable I had in my stay in Mexico and I stayed at over 5 hotels. The location is ok, Not too far from Centro historico but a bit of a walk. Really no big deal as uber or other ride sharing apps very cheap in Mexico. I would definitely stay at this hotel again! The price is very cheap for such a nice hotel. This is a little gem!

Breakfast is ok, nothing special. The best thing is that there are two restaurants directly connected to the hotel which makes it easier to access food at almost any time. The room was done every day and staff was always very kind and attentive, however, I have the impression the room was never swept. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is close to many attractions of Mexico City. Overall, it is a great place to stay!

I have been to this hotel few years ago and I was a little deceived with it but this time, I was amazed by all, they really improved and the staff is amazing. Great room, great mattress, great bed linen, the size of the room, great shower, hot water and really quiet even if close to all bars in Zona Rosa

Beautiful hotel and room in a great Polanco location, overlooking the park and easy walking distance to many attractions, restaurants and shops. The staff was great, even helping us find a lost item in the gym (which we used many times) and directing us to numerous local spots for coffee, drinks, etc. There are great restaurants in the hotel, and you can get an excellent at Chapulin. We would definitely stay here again.

The best thing about this Hotel was the location. I was in a great area and close to lots of bars, restaurants and coffee shops etc. The pool area on the rooftop was nice, great place to chill out, however the pool was ridiculously shallow.
