Loved the area with friendly people everywhere. Went to the Museum which my Great nephew really loved. All hands on. Went to Kirwan Bowling and had a great time with all our extended family.
Also went to the Tavern and had a wonderful meal which didn't cost too much.
Spent time on The Strand at the Waterpark and all the kids had a ball splashing around.

It is a nice city surrounded by some rainforest, farmland and bush. Lots to see and do. I loved the museums. I loved the botanical gardens; the hill overlooking Townsville is five minutes drive away from the hotel and you can drive or walk up it. The esplanade is worth the walk. Lots of places eat and drink along it.

Townsville is a relaxed, growing city with good restaurants in Palmer Street and along the Strand. Easy to get around and always peaceful on the water front. Magnetic Island is a quick ferry ride away.

A good tip for a stay in Townsville is to try and stay...
A good tip for a stay in Townsville is to try and stay around The Strand, even if a business traveller, if you have a car. If you're a tourist wanting to chill out you don't really need a car. It's a couple of klms out of the City but it has everything you need and is pleasant with the sea close by and a walkway for walking, runners and even dogs are very well catered for! (Drinking bowls, walkies and cafes accept them). Lots of restaurants and cafes. However, try to stay at the City end of the Strand if you aren't a great walker or if you have difficulty with mobility. Having said that, the walkway along the sea (from one end of The Strand to the other) is flat and OK for wheelchairs I would think.
My room is 2 single bed but each bed has good size which is good for big guy (well i am not big) and 2 pillows each. Nothing cooking facilities or microwave, there are refridge & jug, a hotel room which is good enough for short stay. Walk-in bathroom, my window facing empty ground and the city, quiet, clean. I was allowed for early check-in 11.30am 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Palmer Street is known for restaurants/cafes and 3-4 stars hotels so it is definitely safe area.
Self contained apartment. It was large, comfortable lounge, undercover parking, everything you needed inside. It is 3 blocks from the Strand, but we an easy walk, or grab a scooter of you feel lazy. Clean pool area. Because of the location, we had a self contained 1 bedroom apartment for the same price as a one room motel room on The Strand. When booking we had trouble deciding but glad we chose the larger living space.
The views from the apartment overlooking the harbour was amazing with great location, easy access to the restaurants and ferry terminal. The staff was kind enough to locate us on the higher floor, very much appreciated that. There were on 2 apartments on our floor, which made us feel quite exclusive and it is pretty quite. Our friends and their kids enjoyed the hotel pool.
Location is very close to CDB and Palmer street which has several eating and drinking places. Its a short walk to the Strand and both Magnetic Island ferries. The rooms are clean and we had a great view of the city. The gym is ok. The staff are positive and helpful. We had two separate stays within a week and the hotel was happy to store our luggage in between stays.
Excellent location, right next to the Tobruk pool and the Strand, short jaunt to "nightlife" (Townsvilleʻs version of it) at the Ville. Right at the marina where we hopped on our dive boat to the Great Barrier reef. Apartment is spacious with tons of storage and good wifi and we had an ocean view. Washer / dryer worked well.
Loved how exceptionally clean the place was and it was great going out for meals walking distance with a view of the strand ..Happy Place downstairs for a clean outstanding breakfast and the renovated Seaview for dinner
Very nice service in hotel felt looked after 😊
The room was very spacious
We had the self contained apartment at the back. It was large, bed was great, had washing machine, large tv, great wifi all in a great location on The Strand. Cross the road for pleasant seaside walks along The Strand. Places to eat were nearby (walking distance).
My family and I always stay at Hotel Allen and always enjoy it. The kids loved swimming in the pool while my partner and I relaxed close by watching them. We love the location, pricing and friendly staff at Hotel Allen so will continue to spend our getaways here
The central location in Palmer Street was terrific. It was easy walking distance to all of our places of interest including the Queensland Country Bank Stadium for a Cowboys game, The Strand for sightseeing and lunch, and Flinders Street for dinner.
You really can't beat the location and price. The generously sized rooms and friendly staff are a bonus. The family rooms are great for inter-generational families as they have a separate queen room. This hotel ticks all the boxes in my book.
Brilliant location and great choice for a night's stay before flying out of Townsville. Close to the Magnetic Island Ferry and city centre. Right on the Strand, offering offering lovely walks, heaps of restaurants, bars, gelato and more.
It is 5mins to the Strand and is surrounded with food outlets. Coles is just across the street. It's convenience and central to what Townsville has to offer. It is worth the price if you just want clean sheets and towel.
We were happy to be located on the Strand, and enjoyed the restaurants near by. Hotel parking was also sufficient and easy to get in and out at all the different hours we found ourselves moving around.
The location of the hotel is a quick walk to a number of areas like the football stadium, the Strand and the main nightclub areas. You basically can walk to anywhere from this area.
