We just needed an overnight stay but found Stawell township clean and pleasant with an extraordinary number of beautiful old homes in good condition. Beautiful to see all the iron lace and different architectural buildings

Our stay was not long enough, just an overnight one on the way to our destination. The room location was peaceful, spacious and clean. Towels were very thin and no extras given.
We were lead to believe there was an on-site restaurant where we could eat Dinner and breakfast unfortunately not when we were there - it was closed

A well kept town with some lovely buildings. The locals were friendly and helpful. The Gift Hotel has great meals and an easy pub ambience. There’s nothing not to like about the place but don’t expect to be run off your feet with activities.

Stawell itself is a decent place but check accommodation and maybe pay a bit more for peace and quiet and choose somewhere in the back blocks away from traffic.
25 minutes from Halls Gap, the zoo and the Grampians.
Shops are accessible with a few cafes.

The service at Magdala was excellent; particularly in the restuarant. Great Food!
The owners were friendly and approachable.
The town of Stawell is very pleasent with interesting historical locations to check out both in the town and the surrounding area.
I do recommand you visit the Information Centre to gain information on sites to see. They were every helpful.
The Railway Craft centre is a lovely place to visit for a high tea and to purchase locally made craft items and paintings. Very friendly service too!
The only challenge is the right-hand turn from the main street (not sure of street name) onto the highway. There are no traffic lights and many semi trucks are travelling along the highway all the time. A very tricky junction to access.
We arrived late so the staff were happy to leave the key for us in the key safe, meaning we didn't have to rush. The room was nice and clean and the shower was hot. I thought being so close to the highway that the noise might be an issue but apart from hearing a bit of traffic just before we went to bed, it was pretty quiet overnight. This was a basic room but I think you could easily make this motel a base for visiting the Grampians and surrounding areas.
Clean room, large room, good bed, nice chairs, good tables, large tv with foxtell. You can sit up in bed and watch tv comfortably and that is rare in hotels. Plenty of towels and nice shower. Has everything you expect from a hotel. Has good curtains that allow you to make the room dark during the day if you want to sleep in. Didn't have to ask for anything. Best value in town and the best room of the 3 I've stayed at in Stawell.
Just a few minutes from the Stawell shopping centre. The cabins are surrounded by bushland. It is very quiet, and you will be visited by Skippy and maybe a few of his friends (including the occasional fox and possums.) We had 10 there one night and they are on the property and come very close. I found the beds comfortable, and everything is provided. Stove, fridge cutlery plates etc.
This is our 4th visit. We will be returning.
The cleanest motel i have stayed in. Both inside the rooms and outside areas were cleaned regularly. The DVD players on TVs was an awesome feature. Watched a movie the old fashioned way.
Super friendly owner
Extremely close to Halls Gap and the other attractions. Would recommend it and its where I would stay next time anyway.
The bonus for us were the nice little shops in Statwell and the long evening walks in Statwell.
Spacious room with all the amenities for working away from home, lots of towels, soaps and shampoo, close enough to the shops if you dont mind a walk to the inner city of Stawell or a quick car trip, very close to take away, petrol and Milk bar. The room was very clean and comfortable. The pool looked inviting and cared for. Clearly the better of the motels on the Highway in Stawell
Very well appointed apartment right in town. You can walk to most things. Our host Rob went out of his way to make us feel welcome with some lovely added extras like a bottle of wine and chocolates. Also he is a great source of information as to what is happening around Stawell. All the locals were so friendly. It was just a lovely experience for us over the Anzac Day long weekend.
Staff were very friendly and accomodating, providing support and guidance when asked. e.g recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner - great advice given - the meals at the Pub across the road from the athletics track was great.
Being able to check out a little later than 10.00 was no problem, especially as it accomodated our reason for being in Stawall overnight.
The room was very clean, the king bed was comfortable and had very good electric blankets unfortunately no reading lamps , although the restaurant was closed meals could be ordered to the room , the man at reception was nice , easy to get on with and made us feel welcome overall a very pleasant stay , yes I would recommend the Goldfields motel . 😁
Great little Motel, conveniently located of the Western Highway. It is centrally location between Little Desert National Park (Horsham/Dimboola) and the Grampians (Halls Gap). Stawell is a perfect little town with all the amenities for a short stay.
Quite a large room for a motel, could easily fit another queen bed. The motel is old & some of the furniture has seen better days but most have been update & modernized, especially the bathroom. It has a well appointed & spacious kitchenette.
Breakfast was generous, including 4 eggs. Cook it Yourself in full kitchen.
Loads of space and impressive 'corner store' vibe.
And Stawell is a lovely town.
