This is the most friendly place in the whole of Australia!
This is the most friendly place in the whole of Australia! Everyone we came in contact with was so helpful and accommodating. We did not experience one unpleasant person during the time of our visit. Kirk at the Information Centre set the bar high and made us feel very welcome.
A number of vineyards are dog friendly so that makes travelling with pets so much easier. There are also a number of excellent restaurants and cafes that have an outdoor area where it is possible to sit with your pet and enjoy an excellent meal. There are so many wineries to visit you will need to plan a further trip.

I truly just loved how lovely decorated it was and so very very clean. That is a super big bonus for me . There was plenty of room for the two of us . It’s always a bonus when there is a covered outside area to sit out in the fresh air. There was a bench to sit on or a table with two chairs outside. It is not a place to do any cooking . Only a microwave . No sink for washing up. Dirty dishes get put into a container with lids. I would assume once you run out of stuff , the host would wash and replace. We were there for two night and we had plenty of plates, cutlery and cups etc.

Lovely old buildings with modern facilities.
Lovely old buildings with modern facilities. Easy access to wineries. A good range of quality food and coffee in the main shopping strip. I am an avid push bike rider; Rutherglen has great bike tracks and safe wide roads to ride on. Even a good-sized supermarket. People are friendly.

Rutherglen is famous for its wineries, so a visit here is not complete until you visit some of the cellar doors. Staying in town is a great place as it central to all the Vinyards there. But the main street is worth a visit too as its a nice, picturesque place with many interesting shops.

I loved the food and wine.
I loved the food and wine. The area is lovely, particularly in winter, with plenty of open fires at vineyards and restaurants.
The highlights:
It's a short drive to Corowa, where we enjoyed a whiskey tasting at the Corowa Whiskey Distillery and Chocolate factory. The hot toddy and hot chocolate with a "wee dram" were delicious!
Lake Moodemere is a must for lunch or dinner, which can be matched with wines. An open fire, cosy atmosphere, great wines, excellent food, and outstanding staff - it couldn't have been better.
We also had a slightly more "informal" lunch at Footsteps @ Colfield Winery - best hamburger ever!

Rutherglen beautifully, just where we stayed was not worth the money, much overpriced.lot more places good for the money & once you have paid by card in advance, not much you can do. All comes to bottom $ & value for money $214.00 for 1 night a bit rich for where we stayed
We stepped out of our room and looked straight down to the De Bortoli Winery; the location was incredible and an easy walk into town. The rooms were very comfortable. The bathrooms we slightly old-fashioned but perfectly fine. The greeting from the friendly, kind and extraordinarily welcoming Max was wonderful. The bed was excellent, the space was perfect, and we really enjoyed Rutherglen ad s whole! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Beautifully appointed and spacious apartment accommodation with the largest bathroom we have encountered in an hotel. Lovely grounds and an excellent restaurant. We did not bother trying to find anywhere else for dinner on the two nights we stayed. Very courteous staff who seemed to like their jobs as well as appreciating their customers.
Staff are extremely friendly and were in communication prior to our stay answering all our questions. Comfortable family room. Liked that it was 2 rooms too and the main room was large enough that we didn't feel cramped as a family of 4. Positioned behind the Poachers Paradise Hotel with quick access to the main street of Rutherglen.
lovely accommodation- rooms very comfortable. outdoor area with lovely views over vineyards. not self catering but provide plates and cutlery for platters. very nice breakfast. did not have enough time to properly enjoy it. Rutherglen is a beautiful town with all of the buildings in original condition.
Spacious, comfortable and clean apartment, well located to explore Rutherglen wineries. Chris and Ian are wonderful hosts with a good knowledge of the region. Their 3 border collies are gorgeous and the property gardens are impressive. We forward to returning in future
Kellie was just the sweetest of hosts. Looked after us from arrival to departure. Breakfast was exceptional, rooms were very comfortable. We couldn't fault anything with our stay. We would definitely say at La Maison St Arnaud again when we come back to Rutherglen.
Clean and quiet. Good mattress and ok shower. Mostly full of grey nomads rather than tradies and FIFOs peeling out at 5am.
Nice spot. Close to all the attractions and pumping nightlight of rutherglen except for the wineries which are all out of town.
Beautiful apartment, right in the centre of Rutherglen. Furnishings gorgeous, comfy bed, everything we needed. Great communication regarding check in. Absolutely recommend and will stay again.
Great location in the centre of Rutherglen. Couldn't hear any road noise. We stayed in the spa room and it was clean and comfortable. Owners left Easter eggs for us. It was a kind gesture.
The property was beautiful.. Everything was very considered for a comfortable stay.. Amber is an amazing host and would recommend Amberesque for your next stay in Rutherglen.
