Its a great experience to have train ride and the light house and the beach near by. Its a small and welcoming city. Worth to visit car museum if you like motor vehicles. The whale museum is also good. Its easy to spend half a day to one day. Ther is a beautiful lavendar garden on the way to great ocean road from portland, worth a visit.

Portland has so much to offer both in close vicinity and just a short drive away. From the interesting activities at the Port to the many walks around town, safe swimming at Nuns Beach and some very cute shops and cafes.
A short drive to Bridgewater and you will find the most gorgeous beach that gives QLD beaches some strong competition. A few more min up from Bridgewater and there are spectacular view of Blowholes and the ocean at its fiercest.
The historic lighthouse at Cape Nelson is a short drive from the other end of Portland.

Pretty country Victoria town on the sea.
Pretty country Victoria town on the sea. The beach is right in town, else you can drive 15mins to Bridgewater where there's a Cafe right beside the beach with extensive menu & lots indoor or outdoor seating. The Royal hotel in Portland city also offers an extensive menu, very reasonably priced with friendly service and multiple eating / drinking areas, plenty parking or 1 block walk from William Dutton hotel. Portland has Aldi, IGA & Woolworths supermarkets

We visited the park near the port, had a short walk along the beach. The area is clean and safe. We enjoyed the view. We also visited the botanical garden. It is great. Small garden, but lots of beautiful flowers. the city has got several very good places for lunch or dinner. We visited one and had a great lunch. I liked the view form the cliff to the port. It is unique, but it is hard to find the stairs to the beach from the cliff as it is hidden. February is a good time to visit: not too hot, and not cold, perfect.

The views, nature, walks and open countryside both in and around Portland make it a nature lovers paradise. Seals, birds, wallabies, koalas and at the right time of years Whales are abundant. The people are friendly and a good variety of places to eat for a small seaside town. Macs hotel does great meals right next to the port. Not commercialised, just a genuine rural town. Individual shops also small outlets of the large chains. Well worth a visit.

Portland has so much to offer.
Portland has so much to offer. If you enjoy fishing, this is your destination. All the sightseeing places are worth the drive/walk. The mill is extremely interesting to watch from afar and its story is very fascinating. Plenty of eateries and drinking venues.
We will be back and I would definitely recommend Portland
Everything! It was such a welcomed surprise after travelling for 6 weeks and ending up in some very mediocre accommodations. The owner was very helpful, accommodation was charming and immaculate and the location was fabulous. We would recommend without hesitation and should we return to the area we would absolutely stay at the Annesley House again.
We stayed at the Caretakers Cottage which is spacious, nicely renovated and has a full kitchen with oven and dishwasher. The location is very special, being right near the lighthouse on a windswept cape. We stayed at this location last year but in the annexe, which was also nice, but we preferred the caretakers cottage as it had a full kitchen.
Breakfast was included in the tariff. It was well presented and the staff friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself was the first built in historic Portland and its presentation has been kept in true
1840's style. Historic photographs adorn the walls along with historical maritime events.
We would return to Mac's on our next regional visit.
The property was very clean & comfortable. Great location on the esplanade overlooking the sea. Fully self contained with it's own kitchen.
We were just passing through Portland looking for an overnight stay & happy to find this gem. We would certainly stay here again.
Immaculately clean, comfy beds, great shower, quiet at night, good fridge and small kitchen area, really appreciate a kettle, toaster and fridge/freezer. We also received great service from reception. Would recommend it and would stay again.
The location and the rental facility was excellent being adjacent to the beach in a remote location away from the town of Portland.
The facility was a good value for the money. Had it been in our travel plans, we would have stayed longer.
Beautiful room, so comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Food was amazing, we enjoyed every meal.
Location was good , very close to shops.
Highly recommend this hotel
Very cute retro room, comfortable bed, spacious and close to Portland attractions. The tourist maps and info at reception helped guide us to many beautiful sights and experiences.
Being able to book in at 12.00noon!
Appreciated the Bucket of water & squeegee to clean my car windscreen
Had a Toaster !!... they seem to be disappearing in some Motels :-(
The location was better than expected. Close to the beach and all amenities that Portland had to offer. Cable car/tram travelled right past the front gate.
