Port Fairy is a great place to visit - especially if you appreciate a very good golf course. The town has great historical interest and is well appointed for tourists. This part of Victoria is very exposed to the weather so the traveller needs to check the weather in advance and take clothes to suit.

Port fairy is a beautiful, quiet and very much upmarket town with excellent shops, cafes and one or two good looking restaurants. There are peaceful, interesting nature walks and a picturesque wharf and boardwalk.
Gorgeous!

We visited Port Fairy as part of a drive along the Great Ocean Road in November 2023. We really loved the place. Very walkable. We particularly enjoyed the waterfront along the Moyne River and the wildlife on Griffiths Island. Had a lovely and good value meal at Alexo Pizza and Bistro (and the robot waiter was a real novelty). My wife said the coffee and cake at the Mill (across the road from Alexo) was some of the best she had ever tasted. The East Beach was miles of glorious sand. Would have loved to stay longer, but we had to get to Hall’s Gap in the Grampians. We did stop at nearby Tower Hill on the way north, but didn’t really have time to do that justice. Can’t wait to visit again, but not sure when that will be as we live thousands of miles away in the UK.

East beach is fabulous for a swim.
East beach is fabulous for a swim.
Griffith island a great walkway for wildlife, the port is really pretty.
Once a month (?) on a Sunday (?), they fire a cannon at midday (it's very cool!)
Make sure you go the the mexican restaurant on the main street - freshly made tacos, burritos, quesedillas etc, made to your liking - delish!
Would have liked to stay longer!!
We arrive past reception time, but the Jess' communication and contact with us was on point, we had no issue getting to and around the place. We were provided with places to visit around Port Fairy and some recommendation as well, guest experience was fantastic... We stayed a night since we were only driving through back to Adelaide after our trip in Melbourne and drive from the Great Ocean Road. The place is definitely great for young travellers, it spacious, clean and have enough social rooms to meet up new friends...
We loved staying at this quaint cottage and would have happily stayed another night. Clean, comfortable and great location , just a few minutes walk to the main street . Lots of character with beautiful furnishings and well equipped kitchen. We liked the little touches and the complementary chocolates were appreciated. Christmas decorations were lovely. Easy contactless checkin with key code sent day before. Will recommend for a stay in Port Fairy.
The cottage exceeded our expectations as did the town of Port Fairy. It was truly a lovely experience to stay, the 3 bedroom cottage was just gorgeous. We only stayed for one night but wished we were staying longer. It was the perfect way to end our drive from Melbourne to the 12 Apostles and then finish in Port Fairy before returning home to NSW. I hope to return one day.
Oscars Waterfront Boutique Hotel is superb with facilities that are clean, comfortable and so welcoming. The care and attention to detail within and around the Hotel and its rooms was well above our expectations. The Hotel's manager Andriana was very friendly and obliging. The breakfasts she prepared were so very tasty and filling.
Breakfast was good. Coffee was amazing and service great. We loved the room, the location and the staff. They went out of their way to make our stay wonderful, gave us extra cookies and plenty of water and coffee. Highly recommend this venue in Port Fairy.
Sitting looking out at the sea was absolutely beautiful, we are already planning a return visit. The kitchen is well set up, it has everything you need and plenty of it. The location is perfect, right on the east beach within walking distance to the cbd.
The location was good—-we could walk to town. Port Fairy was a nice town with beautiful flowers. Julia was very friendly and accommodating. The cottage had everything we needed and was clean. It was fun to feed the alpacas.
Our Shearwater studio was bright, clean and well supplied with fridge, kettle, hot drinks tray, and microwave. Parking close by (code was needed for the barrier). We had a comfortable overnight stay, and enjoyed Port Fairy.
the location was great, short walk, minutes into town and across the road from the port fairy coffee roasters, the cottage was super comfortable, yet more than enough space for us. we loved the bonus yo-yo biscuits 😄
Lovely setup - comfortable living area, very well equipped kitchen, well set-up bathrooms and very nicely styled bedrooms. Really great space to base yourself in when visiting Port Fairy and environs.
